The first thing Weis does during an ND pro day is meet with the NFL people before any of the players participate in the various drills and tests.

"That's so I can tell them what I think," he said. "And I tell them what a guy's going to run (in the 40-yard dash), and that's (the time) he runs. And I tell them you could take that guy over this guy, but you'd be stupid, because this guy is better. And you know something, they write it all down and go back to their GMs, and that's the way it ends up playing out.

"More than anything else with the draft, where I'm helping them the most is all the (NFL) people who talk to me on the phone. They ask me about players we play against, too."

And Weis' best advice?

"I told them to take Reggie," he said with a chuckle, referring to probable No. 1 draft pick Reggie Bush of USC.

You take a survey of who should be the 1st pick anywhere but in Texas and it's the majority to Bush by far.

That is all well and good, but each team is different in need, cap and philosophy. Bush and Williams are the two top guys in my opinion. Who addresses our need the most given our cap moving forward, acquisitions and attritions this year, especiall if we sign Moulds?

You're missing nothing. I never said it was a bad thing.

The is a bit of self-deprecating sarcasm. I couldn't be more pro-Reggie without actually sharing his DNA. I live in California (go ahead and boo all you Texas isolationists, there are 38 million of us not counting the guys and gals picking our crops), grew up in Southern California and have known of Reggie Bush since his days at Helix High.

He's the best player I've seen come out of college since a man named Bo came out of Auburn. I watched Marshall Faulk play twice when he was at SDSU and Reggie is much faster and shiftier.

If Reggie Bush is not the #1 pick in this year's draft, somebody's making a big mistake.

It's a no-brainer, IMO. Pick Reggie or trade down. Simple as that.

I like the comparisons that get made with Bush. While I like many of the other draft prospects, I still think there is something beyond special about him. I hope his college magic transfers to the NFL and he has a HoF career as a Texan.
