Rooting for your team to lose so they'll finish with the worst record in the league is quite possibly the most soulless expirience in professional sports.

Limiting payrolls, rewarding losers, and censoring celebrations: the NFL is definately NOT the Great American Pastime.

ps - Oh, and they're looking at limiting the amount of hair that sticks out of a helmet for "safety reasons" even though there is no record of an injury due to hair length.

Personally, I don't care who coined the phrase... I have fun watching it.
Also, that moniker came about when the celebration rules were a lot tighter than they are now. They are allowing quite a bit personal expression from players these days.

Giving the worst team the first pick is another strategy intended to foster parity in the league. For better or worse (you'll say worst I think), the NFL wants to make it so every team has a chance to improve significantly in a short period of time.
I don't see it as rewarding bad teams per se... Even teams that are strong for years on end will (most likely) face a rebuilding process eventually.
Look at the Titans. They broke the bank trying to field a championship team and had a real solid run. But all good things come to an end. They had to jetison a whole bunch of talent to be financially viable.
I think it is fair that teams like that are given higher picks so they can improve themselves.

I do see your point if you look at teams that are horribly mismanaged (sp?) cough cough... Phoenix... but for the most part, every organization will hit the skids no matter how well they are run.
Anyway, that's my view of that particular part of the system,chief...:neener:

A few years ago before his retirement someone pulled out some of Ricky Williams' dreadlocks that were sticking out of his helmet in an attempt to tackle him from behind. Hair is considered part of the equipment so no penalty.
