CB: Chris McKenzie ????

baba ganoush

Waterboy
I've heard that he is a pretty solid back-up and I saw him do really good last year in one game, does this kid have a chance to become a star in this league if his production continues, or is he just a career back-up???

i really like him, but i doubt he will be any better then a 2nd or 3rd CB.

but if he gets some good coaching i think he can be real productive

star/number 1 corner on a team. never. At best number 2 cb and that is a reach. Most likely a dime cb. In his prime he probably be a nickle cb.

injuries can happen and he will be a number 2 or 3 cb, but im talking about at the start of a season, i don't ever see him being the 1 or the 2 cb for any team throughout his career.

He will be a solid #3 for us hopefully in the near future. He is a great athlete but his side is a huge downside for him, even though he posted a great vertical in preperation for last years draft.

The guy is a midget.

He could be a great corner but because of his size I don't see him as ever being more than a nickel guy or a spot starter.

He's only 1 inch shorter than Aaron Glenn. Size isn't everything. If he has football skills he can overcome his size disadvantage. I haven't seen enough of him to tell if he's starter material or not but his talent will be the determining factor, not his size. imo of course

I do too. I believe one reason we didn't take a corner is because we are high on him. I can't wait to see him on the field this year.

I apprecaite skills make a difference, but I can just see McKenzie matched against guys like our AJ or Walters who are 7-8 inches taller than he is and seeing the fades the jump balls the TD's coming thick and fast....

Their is a good reason big corners are coveted and their is truth in saying that a good big man will beat a good small man.

It's called a 42 inch vertical :challenge

I'm sorry but don't you think that plenty of tall WR's can jump too??

They aren't just going to stand there and let some little guy jump over them and embarass them.

EDIT: Just did a little research myself and he was reported to have a 45" vertical jump. That is some impressive hops.

The dude is roughly 5'9" (5'8 5/8 or something), Dunta and most of our other corners are around 5'10" + or - a centimeter...

Either way, I like our CBs we have and look forward to seeing them perform with a good dline rush and good zone play and blitzs from our LBs..

Happy Memorial Day..

lol I missed that too. I searched google and the first one said 42 and the second one said 45. Even better! :tv:

actually tall corners tend to struggle and it seems to be tougher to backpedal and turn your hips and run when you have longer legs....one of the defining traits of good cornerbacks. I'd rather have a short corner that can cover closely than a tall corner that will not be able to turn and run like a shorter man. The extra height does no good if your man jukes you into oblivion.

I'd like to see him play a little more this season. With all the hype he gets on this board. I also think Vinny is right in why the Texans didn't take a CB. Maybe he'll be brought in to replace P-Buch.

When CBs could mug a WR and move him out of his route, it was a good thing to have bigger CBs. Now it's pretty much hands off, so the smaller, quicker guys are the better corners as they are able to stay with the WR better.

A good cover guy is a good cover guy no matter what size they are.

I am just saying that I fear the impact that size has down around the endzone.

Hopefully our D-line is taking care of business and putting pressure on the QB. Our DBs won't have so much exposed if that happens. That's our plan, anyways.
