Casserly's Draft Comments this AM on SR610

From what I've heard on the radio from Richard Justice and John McClain, McNair trusts Casserly and is unlikely to let him go. So if we get a good coaching staff and all of a sudden these picks work out, due to proper coaching, how much responsibility/credit does Casserly take? I get the feeling that many of you will be unwilling to give credit to Casserly

Why would you give him credit when he just said this morning that he has next to nothing to do with it and the selections are pretty much all on Capers? Jeez.

Casserly just brought up a new twist on something I have mentioned a couple times. In the expansion draft Boselli passed an NFL league physical and then never played a down. The league made the Saints remove Willie Roaf from the expansion draft and he has only gone to every pro-bowl since and played 3 years after the expansion draft without missing a game. I had always looked at that as an either or situation, but Casserly just mentioned they might have taken both. That one situation is the biggest single what if for the Texans IMO. So fine Bosselli goes down and you don't have bookends, you still have Roaf at LT and Pitts at LG from day one without a snap missed. Hmmm, 16 sacks from the LT position instead of 39.75.

And PB got a game ball last week (along with Walker), now lets see some
more of the same this Sunday .i.e., a liitle consistancy.
His excuse for Hollings was pretty lame - said he just got beat out by DD for
the starting spot, but forgot to say Hollings isn't even an adequate backup because they drafted Morency for that reason.

hollings has virtually no trade value...packers might be interested after this season...as might the cards...but we're talking about a 7th rounder at best when we used a 2nd rounder on the kid :tomato:

Caller: "So Charlie, you basically wasted 5 draft picks for Hollings, Buchanon, and Babin...why aren't we any better this year?"

Casserly: "We were pretty good last year".

Wow. Thanks Charlie.

another reason for Casserly to insist that Hollings get some playing time that way teams could see the same potential that prompted Casserly to give up the 2nd rd pick aquired via the Raiders that because of their meltdown turned into what would have been the 1st pick of the second round :tomato:

what do the Texans have to lose? lets see what he's got, no more excuses :ok:

I like seeing Chester Pitts get some credit when he does well so I don't want anyone thinking that this is coming out as a knock on Chester. Having said that I want to add that when I hear Charlie Casserly talking up Chester Pitts at LT my main thought is that this is early "lubrication" to prepare us for the Texans passing over the best LT prospect in this coming draft.

I know, it's a little too "Oliver Stone" to be considered a plausible theory. It's just that this happens to be where my trust level is right now.

If they pass on the top LT this season I don't know what I'm going to do. There's always the classic "my head will explode" but really, I think what's going to happen is that I'm going to take a big hit to my ability to care about the Houston Texans.

What he said basically was " Hey... Buchanon got a game ball last week, and uh Babin's been hurt since the second week of preseason see, and he had a good rookie season last season and hey, Hollings was drafted the same year as Domanick Davis and since Domanick has been so good uh.... Tony Hollings hasn't been able to get much playing time, see."

Texan Fan: Uhh no Charlie - we dont see. Thats the problem. What we have seen you do is spend millions of dollars and trade away multiple draft picks for bench warmers see.... Weve seen your coaching staff spin their wheels and make one clueless decision after another see.. Maybe you and Boselli, Wand, Babin, Buchanon, Joppru and Hollings can head over to the Smoothie factory and work on your resumes for next year see...Cause were gonna have to let you go see.. :goodnight

Hey AJ, about that new avatar you've been sporting - Does that mean you're no longer President of the Charlie Casserly Fan Club ?
