Carr calling plays in first half? why?

I am interested in knowing exactly how much latitude David had in the play calling. Did David actually call the plays? All the plays? Some of the plays? Or, was he just given more latitude at the line of scrimage for audibles?

The plays were always sent in from the sideline, even in the first half, but in the first half Carr was allowed several check options that gave him the latitude to read the defense and choose different run/pass options based on what Cards were showing.

Early in the third quarter, drives 7 through 9 started on the Texans 16, 5, and 20 yard line and that's when the conservative, take control nature of this coaching staff took over. They still passed (or attempted to pass) as much as they ran on those three series but David was directed to run the play as called because of the field position.

I thought Carr did a great job calling the plays Sunday. He mixed up the pass and the run well, and he didn't do anything to jeopardize the offense's drives. He played within himself. He didn't try to show off his arm by throwing a 50 yard bomb to Andre, or try to force anything. Yes, he dink and dunked because he knew its what this offense could do and one of the only thing this offense could do in the passing game and he led this team to 24 points. I think thats enough said.

Let Carr call the entire game and you will see a high score of 40+ points.. Do this and our defense can stay the way they are.
