This offseason, the Texans are adjusting their offense by placing more emphasis on timing patterns. Due to the fact that Carr was "jittery" at time when the pocket was collapsing. Makes the case for starting #1 pick early in the year.

Carr recognizes the pressure placed on # 1 pick. CArr say, "I'm serious, I mean your're in New York waiting for guys to get drafted, and you see guys who went #! like Bradshaw, Elway, and Aikman; that's nine Super Bowl rings. So you are aware of what's expected"

Texans cut off all endorsements opportunities during first year.

"Teammates have to believe they can win with you; it doesn't mater how strong you are or how far you can throw the ball as long as you help them win. The guys who fail? Their teammates stopped playing for them."

Greg Roman: "He has to step up and take ownership of the team."

Palmer: "There's a point in a young quarterback career where he has to say, 'I want to do it.' "David has to ability to carry this team on his back; now he has to make it his team. His teammates should expect a consistent level of play every week from him that gives us a chance to win. It is like the father of a family; he has to become father of the team."

If you are not copy-n-pasting copyright materials without a source to check you are fine. We try to be consistent although it is tough to catch everything. You are clearly giving credit to your non-net source and are just providing a bit of a recap so unless the site tells me this is not allowed I don't have any problem with it.

The piece sums up my feeling that Carr needs to step up this year. He will need to worry more about x's and o's than fixing his hair each time he takes off his helmet. He is a solid person and family man but he needs to work on his machismo and quit crying like he broke a nail when things don't go right if he wants to have the respect of his teammates. Carr has proven he is tough by taking the punishment the past three years and now this is his year to breakthrough.
 
Thanks pek281. That was the best article on Carr I've ever read. The type of candidness in Carr our local rag is incapable of obtaining. This is a great quote from Carr from the link above:
"Want to know why some guys come out highly rated and last just two years? Teammates can see right through you. They know exactly what is inside. If your strengths are good enough and your weaknesses aren't that bad, they will follow you. They want you to give them a chance. That is the biggest thing in the NFL with a quarterback. I think I saw a couple of guys stop playing for Carr late last year. I hope I'm wrong. Not the guys who'll be here long term like AJ, DD, Pitts, or even Wand. As much as I've criticized Wand, I'd never call him a quitter. From how he handles himself on the field to how he responds to questions in the locker room, there's no doubt in my mind that Wand cares. I wish I saw the same sense of ownership from some of his linemates.

i cant rememebr anyone that "stopped playing for carr". If anything i always thought our team played with a lot of heart even in the games were lost they never gave up !

They certainly stopped playing the last game of the season against Cleveland last year (it was the last game) but the 2 games prior to the Browns, against Jacksonville and Chicago, the team looked very sharp and will hopefully be a view of things to come.

Well i figure the team didnt think Cleveland would be to big of a challenge and the browns caught us with our guard down.

I don't really buy this. These guys are pro's, and they come to play every week. Bottom line is they tried and got whipped.

In the perfect world "pros" would come to work and play every week, but thats just not the case, especialy in the last week of the season when playoff hopes were dashed for weeks. These guys are humans just like us and could of looked past the browns just like us, because they get paid to show up and give their all doesn't mean they do. Like I said this isn't a perfect world.
