John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports friends of former Houston Texans head coach Dom Capers said he has received five offers to run defenses from NFL teams, including one from the Miami Dolphins who play a 3-4 scheme.

Dolphins | No formal offer to Capers
Tue, 10 Jan 2006 21:31:44 -0800

Jeff Darlington, of the Palm Beach Post, reports Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban has yet to offer former Houston Texans head coach Dom Capers a position on his staff. There has been talk of Capers joining the Dolphins as defensive coordinator, but that may not be the case. Capers still is hoping to be considered for one of the remaining head coaching vacancies.

I would like to see Capers get a shot in New Orleans. He could draft Vince Young and that would make him a better coach than he was in Houston with David Carr

Capers will go to the Cowgirls as DC so when we play them next season he can get revenge!

I wouldn't hold my breath if I was Capers. He may be a good DC, but he was a horrible HC.

Bills | Capers could be candidate for defensive coordinator job
Thu, 12 Jan 2006 09:50:25 -0800

Leo Roth, of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, reports former NFL coach Dom Capers could be a candidate for the Buffalo Bills' defensive coordinator position should Bills defensive coordinator Jerry Gray not return.

Pfft... def coord Bills? You just lost a head coach correct? Why not make Capers the head coach - he's got his staff all ready to go.

I wouldn't be surprised if he went to the Giants with the soup nazi since he is such good friends with him. That means that he would have coached both of my favorite teams.:crying:

With 10 NFL coaches fired or leaving their teams, a large number of assistant coaches could be available, depending on the head coaches hired to fill those spots. McCarthy suggested he’ll begin interviewing candidates immediately.

Among those with experience as defensive coordinator is former Houston coach Dom Capers, who was a defensive coordinator with Pittsburgh (1992-94) and Jacksonville (1999-2000). He runs a 3-4 scheme he learned as an assistant with the Steelers.

uhhhh no. Dallas already has one of the brightest minds in football running their defense. He didn't know crap about running a 3-4 and learned it over the summer. His defense, as is expected with him now, was GOOD.

Besides, when Parcells is done, I am have a suspicion that Jerry will make Zimmer the HC of the Cowboys.

The Texans 2005 season was a failure in part no doubt do to decisions
made (or the omission of other decisions) by Capers and I think he should
have been canned. But to just say he is a horrible HC and leave it at that, no. Coaches can have entirely different results in different circumstances with
different teams. As an example, look at Caper's buddy Tom McCloughlin, who
was fired at Jacksonsville after some losing seasons but a few years later
taking the Giants to the playoffs in just his second season with that team.
I wish Capers the best of luck with his efforts to land another HC job, because his results could be entirley different than here in Houston.

I'm really pulling for him to get the Buffalo job. Hope he lands on his feet as a HC somewhere.

Our former head coach Dom Capers has interviewed with the Bills out of Buffalo this last week, and some consider him to be the front runner. This just prooves that he's a great coach, because he's getting offers. If he doesnt recieve this job, he'll more than likely get a defensive coordinator job somewhere in the leauge.

And hey, Denver's getting killed! We may name Mr. Gary Kubiak our coach this week. :redtowel:

At least Capers will have a solid D already in place. Hopefully he takes Pendry with him to help sure up that o-line in Buff.

Considering that we'll see Buffalo again next season, maybe we run over their offfense if indeed Capers and Pendry are there. :ok:

That's nonsense. He takes a team from scratch and in just three years guides it to the cusp of a .500 record and you say he's a horrible head coach? I suppose Cowher is a horrible head coach because he had a bad record a couple years ago. Same with Holmgren. I guess you would have fired both of them if it was up to you. Capers accomplished a heckuva lot with the Texans and he was rewarded with a pink slip for one bad season. Real astute. Yeah, right.

Cowhers has had 3 losing seasons out of 14 with only two being back to back. Holmgren has had 2 losing seasons out of 14 with none back to back. I like Capers but c'mon, your examples kick harder than they shoot (hopefully a TN fan will get that one).

Capers has had one winning season in eight years of head coaching experience. It doesn't take a math genius to figure out that is not a good winning percentage.

You can ramble on about expanion teams, but they are just excuses. And we know what those are like....everyone has one and they all stink!

Dude is firing his offensive coordinator TWO GAMES into a new season!! That, in itself, is indicative of a man who is not the greatest head coach.
