Can our draft situation be fixed?

If we don't trade down, we need to take Bush. I don't like these ideas some people have about taking D'Brick or Williams or whoever with the #1 pick. Bush is the only player in this draft with #1 overall potential that isn't a QB, even though taking him makes me nervous. We can trade down, if we get a descent deal, or take Bush, but I don't want to spend a #1 on some player that should really be somewhere between #4 and #15 or so.

I still think the thing to do is Draft Vince Young..... If we have to use the first pick...... I understand we just signed Rosenfells, and some believe he may be a starter in the waiting, which is fine. But as long as their is a question about how successful Carr can be, I'd shore my bet with Vince. I'd be able to groom him for atleast two years(I don't believe it will be necessary to sit him for two years, but I'd have that option), and Start David Carr......

Granted, I don't have access to David, I don't have the ability to get inside his head..... Kubiak does, & I'm sure he's working with David right now. Come Draft day, if he doesn't think it's necessary to put together plan B... I'm fine with that....... If he wants Reggie Bush...... I'm fine with that too........ But since we are on a message board, talking about what we'd do........ that's what I'd do.

The first thing I'd do.............. is fire Mike Holmgren............ mmmmhhhhmm.

I've argued for a while that our best move is to trade down, get at least 2 extra 1st day picks, and try to get Young. The extra picks make up for needs we have to fill, and Young becomes the thing we do for the future of the franchise.

There are a lot of ways to do this, but the strongest hand is to take Leinart at #1 and THEN trade him during the draft to somebody down the line who wants him. You can't let him stay on the board because that means teams will trade up with others to take him.

I dont think there are enough teams high enough who would do this. If the plan is to get young, you would have to have a team draft Young, and then trade the rights for Leinart. This leaves the Titans as the only team, because if we take Leinart, then the Titans will take Vince.

I do agree, NightHawk is panicking a little early........ & he's beeing pretty obvious about it....... I don't believe he's a poker player.

I'm not panicking, I'm suggesting that if push comes to shove we take Leinart with the 1st pick and try to trade him thereafter.

No, you are panicking....... much of your excitement, I think, would be more approriate after Reggies Pro Day at least.... for instance, the title of this thread..... "Can our Draft Situation be Fixed", well it isn't broken, yet.... the Draft is what 38/39 days away...... over a month... half of the top prospects haven't even worked out yet. The only moves we've seen so far, are instigated by teams looking to fill their rosters with FAs..... no one is pro-actively positioning themselves in the draft yet..... we've got at least antoher 2 weeks before FA is over, teams will then start to focus on the draft..... until FA is over, no one really knows what their draft needs are....... i.e. The Dolphins....... did you know they were looking for a QB?? Detroit?? N.O. after signing Brees, most likely won't be looking for a QB..... we won't be looking for a TE. OT, DE, have moved down on our list as far as quality goes, we can be more picky.

Through FA, Kubiak has done a really good job... he's upgraded several positions, while adding youth to the team. We've addressed most of our issues, I'd like to know specifically which holes, you think we need to address with extra picks..

What thunderkiss just said. Well you make it obvious that you would switch out Bush for young in the first rd. So you don't address any needs either. Who do you take with the extra picks in the second and third rds. At the beginning of the offseason I would have agreed with you, but after all the FA moves that Kubiak and Casserly have made I no longer see so many big holes.
