OzzO

.. and then?
... and no B'OB is not one of them. The poll above lists in burning order from pilot light to @$$ on the grill, for those wanting a change a HC, assuming:

- Bobby Mac won't go college route
- bring in another HC vs promoting coordinator
- Rick the godfather is still around

... who out of these do you feel would do better the B'OB as HC, using the existing "Texan method"

Comes from the Fox sports list in the link:
http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl...seat-ranked-from-warm-to-scorching/ss-AAjKCgU

I didn't include from the list:

Jim Caldwell (Lions)
Jeff Fisher (Rams)
Chuck Pagano (Colts)
Gus Bradley (Jags)

mainly because there is a limit on poll selections and figured can probably rule out these 4 pretty easy. But hey, you're welcome to write in a selection.

Poll closes in a week

If we have to use the existing "Texans method", which OB pretty much changed up, I don't think any of those coaches would succeed. I do think McCarthy would be a better offensive play-caller, and maybe that's all we need, if and only if we can hang onto Crennel/Vrabel

Three questions:
Will he be forced to use Osweiler?
Will Rick Smith stay on as "GM"?
Will McNair continue to "break ties"? (He said that himself, "if there's a disagreement, I break the tie".

If the answer is yes to all of the above, then it may not matter who replaces O'Brien.

If the answer to the last one is "no" then the new guy has a shot at success. McNair needs to step completely aside and let the football guys do their jobs.

And my pick is McCarthy followed by Hue Jackson. Like JB said, I like McCarthy's offensive scheme and play calling. And even at oh-fer, Hue Jackson's guys still play hard for him.

By "Texans method" - I was basically thinking both McNair and Smith would still be around in their same capacity since I don't think either are changing roles anytime soon. All other items up for grabs. (I think that covered both JB's and Obsi's questions)

In my mind it's McNair who needs to step back.
I know I'm gonna get flamed for this but I don't really have a problem with Smith's role.

If I'm the coach I'd rather the GM follow my shopping list as opposed to going out and getting guys HE likes (whether they actually fit my system or not) and throw them over the fence at me. And if I don't make his square pegs work in my round holes, then he fires me.

OTOH, if I can't make the player types I specified and agreed to work out, then I need to be fired.

The owner's job should be to make sure we have good facilities and sign the checks for the players the coach wants.
