Bush vs. Oline in the draft...

I wanna see us trade that #1 pick for as many additional picks as we can. I'm all for trading the 1 for the 2, then the 2 for the 3 or 4, and perhaps that pick also. As long as we get our top pick at the O-Line. There are a lot of teams out there who are willing to give up an awful lot for Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart, and Vince Young (yeah, he's gone). I'd like to come out of this draft with:
-the best LT
-a TE
-a backup QB (maybe Reggie McNeal?)
-a WR
-a center

I know I'm ignoring the defense, but screw it.

I don't think this is too farfetched. If there were ever a year where a team could turn it's fortune around in a draft, it would be this one. If they played their cards right they could end up with a top six pick, three high seconds, and an extra one next year. You still get your lineman and load up in the second with picks that would normally be first rounders because of the depth of the draft.

1) Brick/Winston 2a)Max-Jean/Joseph 2b)Pope/Davis 2c) Landry/Bing 3a and 3b) best LB and DL available

Why not seems reasonable. Just need the niners and Jets/Raiders to deal

When I've watched this team this year, I have seen nothing but holes. Our blocking is bad, our QB is questionable, our WR's are below average, etc. I wish we were good enough to take Bush, but I don't want to suffer through any more seasons like this. When I look at the team I see three players who are unquestionably solid: Andre Johnson; Dunta Robinson; and Domanique Davis. With all the problems we have we can't afford to replace one of our solid parts. The only way Bush can improve this team is if he averages 300 yards and 4 TD's a game. I say let's start upgrading our weakest links (starting with the OL), and see what our playmakers can do. David Carr is a #1 pick, maybe he can break out with a better line and better recievers. Maybe if our offense stays on the field Andre Johnson can put up TO type numbers. Maybe with some blocking DD will run loose on people. These are all maybe's, but so is Bush.

Only problem i am seeing with this is that 49ers are doing what we are doing. They want Bush but i dont think they will make a move to get him. If they draft 2nd and know that we are going to deal the pick to say NY or GB then they might put up and offer involving Julian Petterson, the #2 pick and possibly another pick next year but i am not seeing it with the 9ers. Plus what i am hearing from Jets is they dont want Leinhart that his arm isnt strong enough. Which tells me if the jets make a move to trade up it will be for Bush not Leinhart. Esp with C. Martin only coming back for 1 more year that does make since to let Bush have 1 year under cmart. Then we have GB who has this no name running back who is trying to make a name for himself. I dont think he can carry the team though. I think GB will make a serious run at a trade to get Bush.

Also D Brick stock is falling unless he does something in the combines or senior bowls he might not be the 1st OL taken. I would say if the draft was today Winston would be 1st OT taken. How far will D brick fall to i am not sure prob not far.

Lets test out a trade with Jets #3- #1 and the GB from #4 - #1 see what we can get from that. I bet we can get some very good players to improve us all around.

Darnell Bing won't be available in the 2nd round. If the Davis you are talking about is Vernon Davis, I wouldn't expect him to be available in the 2nd round either. The word is that when he goes to the combine he is going to shoot up the draft because physically he is comparable to K2. I'm also really not sure that the Raiders will trade up to get Leinart or Young because they just drafted Andrew Walter last year in the 3rd round and a few people thought that he was the best quarterback in the Pac-10 last year.

The Packers have a whole stable of running backs. They have Ahman Green, who when healthy is one of the best in the league, they have Najeh Davenport, they have Tony Fisher, and they have Samkon Gado who has 500 yards rushing in 4 starts.

I guess I needed to get my ridiculous scenario out of the way. :penalty: I should just get a top 50 list and say we better get at least four of these if we get the #1 pick.

Green is been injured and i believe he is leaving FA too
Davenport is leaving thorugh FA

they have fisher and Gado

GB MIGHT be willing to go into next season with Gado, if he does as well for the rest of the season. I doubt they will be willing to give up much to get Bush, but who knows. As we see here, folks fall in love with a player and it's Katy bar the door to get him.

I really like Gado. The guy has a great story and is really performing well. I think they could have had a few more wins if they used him more rather than relying on Favre to try to be the hero.

We have a whole stable of RBs and a better one than the Packers have, so why would we be more inclined to take Bush than the Packers would? Domanick Davis is far better than Gado, Fisher, or Davenport, so if the Packers are displeased with Ahman Green I don't know why you think they wouldn't want Bush but we would.

I didn't know that the Packers are displeased with Ahman Green. So without him, then sure they would be interested, but with him I don't think they would.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Great post, I definately agree with what your saying. Also, if we do trade down we could end up with 6 picks in the first 3 rounds, all of them in the top 6 (a 1st, 2 2nds and 3rds (one from NO)). This also gives us an opurtunity to draft for the D, such as Michael Huff, meanwhile, Bennie Jopruu should come back next year at TE (there is no way the guy gets hurt 4 seasons in a row, no way).

Then, add someone like Andra Davis, MLB of the Browns in free agency (which we could have had last year, nice one Cass) and I think the D looks way better. Also add Wong coming back from injury and we are set at MLB (I think Davis plays in a 3-4 at Cleveland)

Why not trade the #1 pick to someone who desperately needs Reggie. We could get a ton in return. I was thinking about the Ricky Williams to New Orleans thing, and Herschel Walker to the Vikings back in the days. The team that gets more players in return usually comes out on top. Also, wouldn't it be huge to get a mobile QB like Vince? Just some thoughts. I really don't think we need Reggie. I think Domanick is awesome. We need a solid O-line and some defensive help.

The Herschel Walker thing was a 1 time in a century deal. I seriously doubt that will ever happen in our lifetime. Now as i look at the teams and where it looks like they will end up i see SF, NYJ, GB trying to move up for Bush then for Leinhart... it could be NO (doubt it though), Balt, Tenn (if dont make Rivers trade) and Detriot. Obcourse all of these teams will be top 10 picks IMO. The Ravens bc you cant play the 46 without having all the talent on the field and they are minus their best player. Detriot will lose like usual. I dont have to explain the rest. so basically any of the teams 2-6 could trade up plus the other 2. Reeves is a smart coach unlike Casserly/Capers. He will have a different style. He will want to bring his style of players. Plus we will start to get better late round picks too with him here. Remember Bryan Finneran and MacCaffney!!!!!! So i expect us to get some extra picks in the draft improve our O-line then take the pics we get and back trade up.

You are missing a CB in there somewhere. All our Dbs that are starting right now are 2nd string talent (excluding Drob).
