Bruenner and Miller: what do they do?

Wolf

I haven't gotten to see the last 2 games and not paid much attention on how we are using the TE's . Are they staying to help block on the majority of the time of pass plays? or going out on passing routes? I am just suprised that with our OL troubles (which is so much better than the 2002 season) that the TE's have basically disappeared from the offense (overall). We have gone from Miller,Bradford,Gaffney(rookie) with Allen at RB ... and Miller basically was the focal point given NO OL. to Miller/brunner, AJ, Bradford, with DD at RB... we have upgraded the positions.. Yet our TE goes from focal point to non-existant. When Carr HAD time to throw.. seems many times he takes off running or throws it away or dumps to DD for a 3 yard game.. My question is how are we using the TE.. It seems with the upgrade of our RB's and WR'.s the TE would get open more (compared to 2002).

Or is Carr reading 1st option then DD?

or are the TE's staying to block?

*edit*
BTW, I don know that we don't have a complete TE. (miller can't block, Bruenner can't catch) according to NFL standards. But in Miller's case he is the same as he was in 2002

I spent the majority of the game watching the receivers. Almost all routes are 3 man routes. TE's are staying in to block. We are trying to block 4 with 7 or 6(if DD is in the game) and failing miserably.
Some call for the quick routes to WR's or TE's but that is difficult because the LB are all over the quick slants.
Until we figure out how to block 4 rushers we will go nowhere.

If the pressure was the result of blitzes that would be a different story but with 7 in coverage and Carr having to get rid of the ball in a nano second we have no chance. Some complain about the play calling but you can't even tell what play is called because the OL breaks down in the first second after the ball is snapped.

thanks for the response and makes sense.. and yes the OL is bad.. but it seems like the OL in 2002 was worse than this group (and with less weapons)yet we found ways to get it to our only weapon (miller) in 2002..

Texan Gal has pointed out many times that we are using 7 people to block 4 and are STILL not getting the job done. That is how pathetic our o-line is and it is no wonder that the recievers have a hard time getting open when they have 7 covering 3. Pretty easy to blanket them with that.

Isn't that what we where doing in 2002? We found our TE's (I believe Miller had 41 catches off the top of my head) what does our TE's have this season about 20 combined?
