Bruce Arians... Arizona?

If you were Bruce Arians, would you have taken the job with the Arizona Cardinals?

If it were me, I think not. There's something fundamentally wrong with that organization & I don't know that Arians will be able to "fix" them. In fact, I think his head coaching career will be ruined by the Cardinals, like other HCs of the past.

I understand as a candidate, I have to wait for someone to give me the opportunity then it's up to me what I do with that opportunity. But with Arizona, it seems if you fail in Arizona, you've got to prove yourself all over again.

Look at Wisenhunt. He took that team to the SuperBowl, now he's the OC of the SanDiegoChargers.

Bruce Arians is 60 years old, has been coaching in the NFL since 1998, and had never even sniffed an NFL HC job before this off-season. Don't forget that after the 2011 season instead of saying they fired him, the Steelers came out with the story that he'd decided to retire. He didn't have much time left to land a NFL Head Coaching job, and given the circumstances that occurred in 2012, I strongly believe that if he didn't get a job this off-season, it was very likely never gonna happen. There were eight HC vacancies after the 2012 season. When Arians accepted the Arizona job, it was the eighth job to be filled.

There's zero question in my mind that given his specific circumstances, he made the right decision.

I'm with CT; if this is "your shot" you take it. After standing in as the Colts' HC last season (and winning coach of the year in the process) he probably thinks it's time.

Yeah, I'd go for it.

Wisenhunt not only could never deal with the QB situation (despite supposedly being an offensive coach) but, that losing streak that got him fired was unacceptable. I would have fired the guy mid-season. He'd simply been there too long.

Personally, I think the Cleveland and Cincinatti jobs are worse than Arizona, but, that's just me.

The only real HC gig I'd be hesitant to take is in Dallas. We all know who runs the team. Previously Oakland was there too. Other than that as a coach, why wouldn't you want to get to the pinnacle of your field?

I think highly of Arians, but man he landed in what is strangely becoming one of the most physical divisions in the NFL.

Makes perfect sense... had I known his history, I might not have posed the question.
