I think this means they feel confident in Hoyer as their starter. I don't think they're going to spend a draft pick on a QB.

Imagine if they take Sammy Watkins & Morgan Moses with their first two picks.

Or Khalil Mack & Cj Mosely?

I think they will pass on QB at 4, but will target one with 26 or 35.

That's possibly 3 dynamic players that can potentially help your football team from Day 1.

If they're in love with one of these QBs.... if they see a franchise guy, a guy they want to lead their organization in the near future I agree & it would make sense.

But I think they've been bit on QB too many times & they have an opportunity to really make some noise. Hoyer isn't the future, but he's looking like Mr. Right now.

If I were them, & I could get a Murray, McCarron, or even a Fales on day 3... I'm targetting 3 day 1 starters with those first picks. I'd even be trying to swap #4 if I could get an extra 2nd & 3rd.

Unless they are bringing in mobile QBs in preperation for drafting Manziel.

Don't want to run a system for JFF and if he gets dinged up not have another player in that mold.

I agree that's what they should do. I'm just telling you what I think they will do. They're the Browns. They'll find a way to screw all this up.

They'll draft a QB.

I agree.

I think this is a clever misdirection by Cleveland. This move says "we're not drafting a QB at 1.4". Why do they want to give out that message? Because they *do* want to draft a QB at 1.4, but they're worried that someone drafting shortly after them wants the same guy and maybe prepared to trade up to get him. Signing VY and Thigpen says "we're set at QB, no need to trade up to get your man".

For example, Cleveland want Manziel, they think Texans take Clowney, Rams take Robinson and Jags take Mack. They're worried that the Raiders also want Manziel and may trade up to get him. By making these signings they're telling the Raiders that they've no need to trade up to get Manziel because he'll still be there at 1.5.

How does signing Thigpen and Vince Young tell anyone they're found their starting QB? Those signings do nothing but scream "Camp Body" to me. Why would you sign one of those guys and not draft a QB?

To sign one of those guys and believe anyone in the league thinks you have found "Your Guy" is ludicrous. Then again... this is the Browns.

To me it says they're looking for a veteran back-up. Meaning they're going to give it a go with Hoyer. They may draft a developmental guy, 5th round or later, but the guys they draft on days 1 & 2 are going to help them win football games this year.

He's a camp body that at most will be a veteran back up for Hoyer this year & the 2014 1st round qb draft pick later......if he lasts that long.

...i, like a few in here believe that this move means that they probably won't draft a qb at 1:4...They're probably looking at Robinson or Matthews..someone to stick opposite of Thomas to protect Hoyer & whomever they draft at qb at 26 for the future. Hoyer got banged up last year..believe he got hurt in a bills thursday night game b/c he had to scramble..... and in his absence of 2-3 games they went into a losing slide after they'd just won 3 in a row.

He and that TE of theirs Jordan Cameron & the young stud WR were all having breakout seasons before that as well.

I think they see how deep this class is at qb & what they also see is a guy like TB seemingly sliding further & further down. Even if he's not there when they come up again at 26, there are still some pretty good prospects to groom for a year.

With the additons of Tate and veterans Dansby & Whitner....Cleveland might be good this year...It all rest on whether or not they can protect Hoyer though.

I can be stubborn to a fault, so I haven't given up on Vince yet! I wish him well and hope this opportunity will serve him very well this upcoming season. I haven't forgotten the sheer will to win in the Texas National championship game, and if he can get the playbook techniques down, it could be a surprising comeback. Anyway, I hope so.

It's a little bit scary that Vince is still such a hot topic down here.

The guy is obviously a moron and has blown opportunity after opportunity. But it seems like some people genuinely don't like him, and that confuses me. I don't remember him doing or saying anything negative toward Houston or the Texans. His followers however...

An often injured 4th year QB for the 4th overall pick? OK, it's the Browns but not sure even they are that stupid.

BTW, just saw this ..

Weeden never made plays that won games for his team.

VY did.

OK, I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you are only talking about the NFL here. Weeden won a lot of games in college.

yeah, what 7 years ago? If VY was that good at making plays that won games, he wouldn't be playing for the Cleveland Browns....

Not necessarily.

If Johnny Manziel is taken in the first round, then whatever team takes him expects him to be the starter one day. They will excuse a lot of things & bend over backwards to make sure he has every opportunity to win that starting spot.

That's the way it was in Tennessee for Vince & Denver for Tebow. They had glaring weaknesses those teams overlooked & as long as they were winning, it didn't matter how poorly that QB implemented their system. They were allowed to "grow." Even QBs who don't win, get that benefit of the doubt if they were taken in the first round; Ponder, Gabbert, Bradford, Locker.

Once Vince moved on, with those same weaknesses, teams were not nearly as lenient with him & it seems, so far, that he hasn't figured that out. Whatever weaknesses he still has, he has to find a way to overcome them.

Guys like Fitzpatrick, Rosnefells, & Palmer have done a lot better job of picking up systems, terminologies, and what not that has allowed them to stay in the game longer than others.

If Vince is still playing with a rookie understanding of the game, thinking that he'll be allowed to go out there & wing it, he'll be out before training camp.

I like Vince. I've been pulling for him since day 1. But it appears to me that he wasted his time Philly, Buffalo, & Green Bay.

My how the mighty have fallen...:vincepalm:.....it's gotta sting this dude's ego that he got cut from a team in less than a month.................again....less than a week after they drafted another qb..............

Gotta hurt knowing that Tyler freakin' Thigpen is gonna get a better chance to stick on the roster.

They only signed him for mini-camp. After drafting Manziel and signing Connor Shaw it was inevitable.

Definitely embarrassing that they chose Thigpen over him. Not a surprise though. Thigpen might not be around very long either. They apparently love Shaw and might not feel comfortable risking him on the practice squad.

Damn ... was hoping they'd somehow acquire Tebow and have all the attention in the universe centered on Cleveland.
