Broncos released RB Willis McGahee.

Free-agent RBs now include Willis McGahee, Michael Turner, Beanie Wells, Cedric Benson, Brandon Jacobs.

Much respect for Willis McGahee. Even if he can't find another gig, he's done what many thought was impossible. Ten years, 4 thousand yard seasons, basically trouble free.

This was a guy who could have collected a million dollar insurance check & never played a down.

Man.

When I saw that hit on his knee in college, I never thought he'd play another down. I never thought he'd walk right after that. For him to have the career he's had is a helluva testament to his intestinal fortitude.

Exactly. That's a man not looking for a handout, determined to be somebody (didn't happen, but good try), wanting to earn everything he gets.

Whuuut? Dadgum TK, what does it take? The man did well. VERY, VERY WELL! I can't recall how many times I heard his name called on the play by play announcers. And that's not for screwin' the pooch. In my book, you're correct, he wasn't looking for a handout. But not being a "somebody"? I guess that's where I have a disconnect.

Please explain how he failed at being an NFL "somebody". idonno:

Like I said, very nice career. Only 2 pro bowls, no all pros, no championship, never led the league rushing... no way will he be in the HoF discussion, ever.. never thought of as a top back, maybe not even top 10 (could've been, don't remember).

MjD has done more than McGahee & he'll probably be forgotten soon. No disrespect to McGahee, like I said, he's done more than most.

He broke the top 10 3x but I don't disagree with your point. His best finish was 8th (twice).

he will be known for having a solid career.
If I remember right, the last few years he's been a big redzone back and short yardage guy and has the occasional long run.

I still remember watching that game in college ....*cringes*
