A few months ago I mention something about Brock Lesnar trying to get into the NFL. Most thought it was just a joke, myself included. However Brock seems to be serious. He's even worked out with a few teams. While signing Lesnar would be a huge risk, He did record a 4.7, 40. For a man that size to run that fast, it is a chance someone might risk it. I feel him being out of football since 97', the best he could hope for right now is practice squad. After that who knows. My questions are, 1 Will Brock ever make an impact on the NFL? And, 2 When? Finally with who? and Should the Texans take a look. :hmmm:
 
He would be a great fit at KC or any team with a coaching staff that can teach and has the ability ($) to bring along a project (which includes Dallas). This guy could be a monster D Tackle or LB but is he juiced? Can he pass a drug screen? Can he deal with being a scrub for a while or is he a prima donna? I don't think anyone will give him a serious look until he gets some PT in the World league or something.
 
the only way he makes it onto an NFL roster is as a special teams player. then it would take him about 2 years to learn a position, and in his case it would be defensive end.

I'm I the only one that sees this as a publicity stunt? The way I see it, the guy needed a little vacation from the body oil & bikini circuit (not to mention the roids). So why not get a little free pub in the mean time by announcing to his public his intentions of joining the NFL. This guy will be back on the soap opera in tights tour by next year. If he really wanted to be a football player, he would have gone to Europe or Canada this year to get some seasoning. By trying to start at the top, he indicates that he's not willing to do what in takes to be a football player. Like his "sport", this guy is one big joke.
 
If he can put fans in the seats, he can play (the bench) for somebody. He doesn't even have to be good, remember MJ playing baseball. Minnesota needs to do something or we will be watching Ol' Red at the podium in a press conference from the Alamodome. He is a Minnesota guy and there may be some appeal, remember Bucky the Aggie.
 
he is a hell of an athlete, so he is worth bringing into a training camp at the minimum. If he can prove that he can learn the playbook and follow instructions, with his athletic ability, he will be worth signing to the practice squad.

Vikes give Lesnar shot at NFL

I want to see this guy get destroyed in a preseason game. Please Mike Tice, don't cut him before the 1st preseason game.

I heard on ESPN Radio that Mike Tice is really excited about Hovan this year. He said that he's shed some wait, and stopped trying to get as big as he could possibly be and go back to the quick athletic DT we all know and hate. They could have one of the best D-Lines in the NFL if they make a trade for Ogunleye.

Amazing. He runs a 4.7, 40 and now he's NFL material. With all the heck Clarett got on this board questioning his skills because of his age, it's suprising to hear this response from some of the posters on this board. This man has been away from football for almost 10 years, this aren't on his side to say the least. But at the same time, I would never fault a man for giving it his all. I say good for him.
 
Lesnar signed today with Minnesota..he still need to show if he can make it to the first team, he would play as a defensive tackle.
 
In the article I read, the Vikes scout said Lesnar was a "project with a capital P" and that "he has the physical tools, but he has a long way to go". I would think he would go to the NFLE if anything. Just my :twocents: .
 
If he really does run a 4.7 that puts him in the upper tier of DL as far as speed goes. He is strong, with quick feet and hands from real wrestling. All he has to do is learn how to use what he has.
On paper he sounds great once you get past his former occupation.

Brock update

"The Vikings held their first full-pad practice Monday morning, when Lesnar got his first real taste of pro football. Playing with the third-string defense during team drills, his inexperience clearly showed. Up against the third-team offense, Lesnar was stood up at the line and pushed down the field several times."
 
Looks like he did better in a practice against the Chiefs.

Brock Lesnar, the former World Wrestling Entertainment star who turned down a lucrative contract for a chance to play in the NFL, picked up his first sack. The victim: the 31-year-old Huard. During morning drills between the Chiefs' offense and the Vikings' defense, Lesnar broke through the middle and nailed Huard low, knocking him on his back. The play drew a loud cheer from the crowd. "I'm just here to prove myself," Lesnar said. "I've got to play hard every play and make some plays to really establish myself. That's just how it is."

QB's are off limits in scrimmages
Heralded as the Next Big Thing on the pro wrestling circuit, Lesnar had Vikings fans eating out of his hands when he sacked Chiefs quarterback Damon Huard.

Of course, the rules of the practice were that the quarterbacks were off limits, and Lesnar's hit on Huard, who suffered a hyperextended elbow, upset many Chiefs.

Lesnar showboated for the fans after his sack, then got smack in the middle of one of several fights, starting a fracas when he retaliated against Chiefs center Jonathan Ingram, who had shoved Lesnar from behind after the sack. When the large brawl was broken up, the 2000 NCAA Gophers heavyweight wrestling champion ripped off his helmet and stalked around the field.

And Mike Tice was complimenting his play afterward? The guy would have racked up about 100 penalty yards and been ejected had this been an actual game.
 
I'm sorry about Huard, but you gotta admit its pretty funny. It's like the movie Waterboy has come to life. I'm surprised he didn't tag in Chris Hovan to finish him off. Besides, Minnesota is the state that elected a former wrestler as their Govenor. So it's not a big surprise they're the first team to give Lesnar a chance. I just wish we played the Vikings this year in the preseason. Imagine the taunts we could toss out at him.
