Brett Hundley

see I don't understand this? Been talking for months about him & clearly dismissed by all here during actual live game tape now, upon reflection his stock suddenly soars? some have him rated higher than Mariota who once was higher than Winston? sense my rage/frustration. Disclaimer- believe what you see not what you read. go ahead & re-watch those dreadful Bruin games tell us what you see....

I've felt this way about Mariota/Winston for a while... I think most people have, but the "f* her in the *" thing, among others, was really hurting Winston . Then in the final two games of the season where Mariota is clearly not the best QB on the field really hurt him.

Far as Hundley goes, I've only watched a few games this year & felt most were just nit picking his game. I'm not saying he's a first rounder just that I've got an unfinished grade on him & I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up going in the first.

Brett Hundley -- Path to the Draft!
This time each year, there's plenty of emphasis put into analyzing, debating and breaking down every little aspect of college quarterbacks and how they might be able to leave their mark on the NFL.

All that time devoted to a single position is, of course, warranted when it is the most important position for any NFL franchise. This year there seems to be a host of storylines centered on the big two -- Florida State's Jameis Winston and Oregon's Marcus Mariota -- and who will be the third signal-caller picked in the draft...

"Shoulder and elbow injuries" kept Hundley out of the Senior Bowl.

Best attributes?: "Hard work (student of game/playbook), leadership..."

Wrong impressions about you?: "Accuracy. I'm looking to disprove that."

Very positive impression of Hundley interview: looks everyone in the eye, well spoken, intelligent, confident, stage isn't too big for him.

Appears to have an slight issue with upper teeth that gives him the appearance of an expression that may not characterize what's going on inside. (Teddy B had similar). Will check with Dr CND on Hundley.

Jim Mora: Brett Hundley not ready to start in NFL right away
"I think he's ready for the NFL. I don't know that he's ready to go in and start in the NFL," Mora said on NFL Network's broadcast of the Bruins' annual pro day event.

"I think if he can find the right situation where he can go in and learn and have a couple years to work on his craft -- because he will work on it, his work ethic is off the charts, character is off the charts -- if he can get himself in the right situation where he's not thrown right into the starting lineup, then I think he can be a very productive NFL player."

Pro Days on opening day of free agency should be illegal. :pissed:

Hundley would be a great pick by Philly in the 2nd if they miss on Mariota. 3rd string behind Bradford and Sanchez for a year and then let him compete with Sanchez in year two. He has a lot of physical gifts, but he is limited in certain areas. However, his skills set is tailored to Chip Kelly's offense.

Quarterback Brett Hundley was the primary focus of today's workout, and by all accounts, the signal-caller threw much better than he did at the combine. He completed 57-of-60 passes, throwing the ball to receivers which included Greg Salas (New York Jets)and Jeremy Horne (Calgary Stampeders). The ball flew off Hundley's hand, and he threw with great accuracy all day.

I like Hundley.

IMO, there isn't a QB in the 2015 draft that doesn't need time to adjust to the NFL & if you're not willing to adjust your offense, that time would be better spent on the bench.

However, Mariota is a plus athlete & that could help him become successful sooner. Maybe more so than Winston, even though he has experience dropping back & running play fakes from under center. If you're willing to RGIII Mariota in a zone read offense, you can win with him. But you'll be exposing him to getting hurt. If he's as "smart" as VY or Cam Newton, he'll probably get away with it. "Smart" as in those guys rarely took big hits as a rookie.

I like almost everything about Hundley. But two huge things stand out.

He is skittish in the pocket. That is a natural tendency and not something that I think you can coach out of a player. His pocket presence is similar to Blaine Gabbert. He has shown at times that he is definitely capable of playing from the pocket, but he is not comfortable there. That's a red flag to me.

He doesn't have intermediate accuracy. The money spot in the NFL is between 8-15 yards, and Hundley really struggles there. I don't think that can be fixed at this point. If you started multiple years at a big time football school and still haven't developed this skill then you won't just magically develop it at the next level. Coaching isn't an issue. There is no way he hasn't received top notch QB coaching already. He and Petty both have a red flag in this area for me.

maybe on the surface, but never thought of Hundley as good, quick, decision maker which if you play QB for Kelly you need to keep up with his thought process. honestly, don't think O'Brian is all that different when it comes to QB play/development.

I think it depends on OB/Kelly's ability to teach it. If they can make it "easy" for the QB, then it may look like he's a good, quick decision maker.

For all we know his coaches aren't very good teachers & it's a testament to Hundley that he's been able to accomplish as much as he had.

He's apparently meeting with the Texans according to either Rap Sheet or Shefty. I deleted the message already, but anyways...

Please No!

Pass! He has tools but I didn't see enough development from him last year against some pretty bad defenses in that conference.

I am so sick of this "until we get our franchise QB" bullshit.

Me too but "until we get our franchise QB" we're just going to have to turn over every rock we can right? I'm not big on either of the two project guys out there that we might end up looking at but I prefer Petty to Hundley if I have to take one (and we don't so why go get another Tom Savage?)

I hope Mallett steps up and runs with this so we can get past this stage of the process.

He will definitely be there at 16 but I doubt we would take him (I hope not at least). 2nd round would be a better target for him.

If we did, it would say that OB has no confidence in either Mallett or Hoyer or Savage. He'd be throwing darts and looking like a fool

Wow, just watched Hundley start for Rodgers against Eagles in pre-season & have to say was impressed. Still holds the ball but goes through progressions, has plus size & athletic ability for position to extend plays. 5th rd. steal looks like a franchise QB for GB when Rodgers gets hurt, retires. Hundley finished the game 22-of-31 (111.6 rating) and passed for 315 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.

I was thinking the same thing. Going against the starters, he don't look bad. I have no idea what his stats are, I'm watching on dvr, several minutes delayed.

Brett couldn't have gone into a better situation to learn, but ARod recently said he wants to play for 8 more years. I thought WCO would be Hundley's best fit.

He went to a place where he'll never play unless there's an injury. Man, he looked good in that last preseason game for the Packers too. This kid needs to play to really learn. If only he went to a QB needy team where he could eventually start.

The guy isn't ready to get thrown to the wolves in 2015. He'll learn from Mike McCarthy and Rodgers and get acclimated and either play should Rodgers go down or be ready to seriously compete as soon as his rookie deal is up. There's no pressure but to be a sponge right now and have all his i's dotted and t's crossed for when the time comes. Sounds like a really good setup for a good kid.

Aaron Rogers could be the Packers starting quarterback until 2022 or 2023. He's 31 and he mentioned in a recent interview that he wants to play eight more years.

Obviously Brett Hundley will have moved on by then? I agree the coaching is perfect for him in this situation with the Packers, but surely if he's to become a legitimate franchise quarterback it will be with another team?

Aaron Rodgers has played in practically every game for six of the last seven seasons. 16 games in four, 15 in two (rested a game in one, sat out with minor injury in other). He's only been seriously injured that one year in 2013.

Rodgers is a tough quarterback who will often play through pain. It looked like he could barely walk in the past playoffs against the Cowboys and Seahawks (calf injury), and he still threw some tight spirals with amazing accuracy. If not for that amazing comeback by the Seahawks (special teams and defensive let down by Packers) he would have led the Packers to a dream Super Bowl matchup with Tom Brady and the Patriots.

There aren't many, if any player, who I would take over J.J. Watt if I were building my own NFL team from scratch. Aaron Rodgers would probably be the only guy I would consider taking over Watt.

I just don't see Todd Hundley's future with the Packers. I doubt he's going to wait eight more years to become the Packers main man at quarterback. If he becomes a legitimate NFL starting quarterback it will have to be with another team.

Sure, it's ideal for him right now where he can learn for a few years.

I thought it was obvious that it would be with a different team, my bad. Yes, it would be with a different team.
