I haven't turned on the TV yet but that seems imposible. We're supposed to only interview him. It's gotta be pure speculation. Although they are 99.9% right, there is that .01% because it's against the rules to hire a coach from a team that is still involved with their team in the playoffs.

Don't believe everything ESPN says. They said we were taking Bush before he declared and when we don't even have a coach. They don't get down here much. Trust me, when UT won the CHampionship they must've been a little pissed because the whole city of LA turned off the TV.
 
irresponsible journelism, they should have at least waited until after the Bronco game out of respect for all parties involved. its already widely known that Gary will be the next coach but there is a time and place for everything and this is not it. I really hope that the Broncos win & keep winning :redtowel:
 
This has to be the oldest breaking news in history. Every Chronicle writer and media outlet in the city has broken this news already. What next, the Berlin Wall is coming down?
 
just because we are going to hire him doesnt mean he is officially our head coach yet.

i forgot the poster, but he said it would eventually be leaked out that he would be our next HC

I agree but this time they might be right, We will see the headlines all night. Mortensen was wrong about Parcells retiring, so I see were you are coming from.

All that is being reported is that Gary Kubiak is unofficially our next HC. He cannot be officially named HC until his current team is no longer playing. It was also reported that if the Broncos go to the SB that Kubiak would be reevaluated, due to the evaluation of draft and Free agent prospects that would be missed, and the overall availability of staff. It is a happy day in Texans land, and not something that most people did not already know.

More evidence that our local journalists are more "in the know" about the Texans than the folks in Bristol.
 
ESPN.com is also reporting that the Texans have decided to hire me as their QB coach. Seeing as though how my QBs in Madden always seem to average around 45-50 touchdowns a year on the hardest All-Madden setting. The Texans went through several other candidates according to ESPN.com, but they chose me because the Texans felt like I would be able to maximize either VY or David Carr's talents to the fullest. ESPN is also reporting that I have started working on QBs throwing motion and studying them intensely by playing Madden 05 (don't like '06) and studying David Carr's mechanics and by creating a player similar to Vince Young. ESPN also mentions that I am supremely confident that whoever is our QB next year, they will put up enormous earth shattering numbers. After this season I will become such a hot property that NFL teams will fork over multiple first round picks for years and NFL owners will be begging at my feet. According to ESPN, rumor has it there are some owners and GMs already interested in me. So, what do I have to say to all of this? Just one thing: Thanks ESPN!
 
i think this is the 1st time i have heard anyone say kubiak would be a BAD decision for us. thanks bobo for the wonderful input

I've said it many times before. He would indeed be a disaster for us. His overall record hasn't been all that stellar since Elway left, he isn't a sidelines coach and he has never had any NFL head coaching experience. Being a season ticket holder, I will be very, very disappointed going with a non-descript offensive coordinator when teams have repeatedly shown that defense wins games.

Mixed emotions about this weekend of football. I'd love to see the Broncos beat the Patriots, but as they keep advancing the pool for coordinators is decreasing.

the new HC mcnair wanted was an offensive minded one. one with a good track record with strong arm qb's. kubiak probably wont be the loud/screaming head coach on the sidelines, but he knows enough of the game to get his players to give 100% and create a winning atmosphere.

no doubt the defense needs help. but this defense can be in the top 10 or 15 JUST with coaching. there are a few weak spots, but the playcalling and coaching was horrible.

IMO kubiak would not come in as a OC if we were to hire a defensive minded head coach.

Wrong the Broncos are one of the most winningest franchises in the past decade. It seems like they win atleast 10 games every year and are always going to the playoffs. Have you watched football lately.

You're right defense does win championships, but just because we have a offensive minded coach doesn't mean we can't have a high caliber defense.

Lets look at the greatest defenses in the modern era:

The 85 Bears
The '00 Ravens
The '02 Bucs

What do all these teams have in common, thats right they were led by a OFFENSIVE minded head coach.

Now lets look at all the teams that have won the Super Bowl over the last 10 years:

The Packers
The back to back Broncos (thats right Kubiak was on that staff)
The Rams (who had a good defense and the team that lost was led by a Defensive head coach)
The Ravens
The Pats
and the
Bucs

Other than Belichick all were won by OFFENSIVE minded head coaches

The Bears and Raiders are a perfect example of what I am saying. One stocked up on offense, had very minimal defense, and finished 4-12 and fired their coach. The other has a very strong defense, virtually no offense, and finished 11-5 and earned a playoff bye. You don't need a great offense if your defense does the job -- all your offense has to do is keep from making mistakes and convert when the D gives you short fields. When you focus on offense, you're hoping to win shootouts and that philosophy always fails. But as I said, Kubiak has a lot of other glaring deficiencies as well. The fact that he hasn't really been high on anyone's list in the last several years should give you pause, plus the fact that he is NOT a sidelines coach is also scary. Add to that his lack of NFL head coaching experience and the fact that his record hasn't been all that great since Elway left (I am sure that being the OC of a team with Elway at QB was real, real tough) and you have a recipe for disaster.

Yeah, I've watched football lately. And lately I haven't seen the Broncs do very much in the NFL, despite having some really good personnel. I remember the Broncs getting to a couple of SBs with Elway at the helm -- but who wouldn't be able to do that? What did he do after Elway left? Yes, the Broncs at times did get into the playoffs -- only to be knocked out in the first round and by embarrassing margins at that.

Kubiak has had a lot to work with in Denver over the years and when you take that into account, his accomplishments are marginal. If he comes here, he won't have near the personnel he has in Denver. He simply isn't a guy who can take something from scratch and make it happen.

The more you discuss this, the more Kubiak worries me. Heck, this guy isn't even on the same field as the defensive coaches! Since he has no experience in the NFL as a head coach and doesn't even interact with them as he focuses solely on offense -- well, this isn't good. I see another Norv Turner manifesting himself in Houston. Well, I guess you'll say that 4-12 is an improvement ...

Ah.........Dan Reeves...you know the guy that has coached and played in 9 super bowls and he had Elway in his prime and couldn't win the Super Bowl, but when Mike moved to the head coaching spot and brought onboard Kubiak, they were able to win them

Kubiak wasn't given those players he helped draft and develop them, players like: Rod Smith, Brain Griese, and he saved Jake Plummers career. I really don't get your point here either, would you like us to hire a coach of a losing team, because he hasn't had the players to work with.

Your right we should just hire Dom back because he is a defensive head coach with head coaching experience, Kubiak clearly isn't on his level.....
As far as him not interacting with defenses coaches and focuses solely on offense.......Ah I thought that was his JOB since he WAS a offensive coordinator.
 
Who do you think he will bring with him? Its very unlikely for him to come by himself, so he would take one or more coaches on Shanahan's staff. I hope he brings the O-Line.

he will. early reports say the oline coach as well as the receivers coach if im not mistaken

The reason BOBO has taken such a, shall I say interesting stance, is that he is VERY sure Kubes will not be wanting Vince and that is all that matters to him.

Actually it's reported in the Denver media that it will be the O-line coach and QB coach. Man, THAT sounds good to me.

Why would we get their recievers coach when Rod Smith is their only legitamite threat at reciever? We already have that.

VINDICATION!

Look for the continued possibility of Jerry Gray to be DC, this is the teams first choice. However, with the Bills opening and Gray interviewing with other teams this is not certain.

Kubiak hopes to bring Dennison (denver's o-line coach) in as OC, but he is waiting to see if he may be offered the OC job at Denver to replace Kubiak.

I have heard some rumblings that Greg Davis from Texas could come in as TE and/or running backs coach, maybe even QB coach.

I've heard this, and I believe I heard it here, but I've been unable to find anything regarding it outside of our message board.
 
If Elway has any role, I see it as one that is similar to when Jim Mora Jr. had Steve Young come in and work with Michael Vick and help him with the west coast offense.

I really can't see John Elway having that big of a position on the team. I think he has too many other obligations to prevent him from putting in the work to be a full time coach in Houston.
 
Elway has a lot of business interests in the Denver area. I doubt he'd leave them to be an OC in Houston.

in all honesty i dont care whop the head coach is, that is as long as he doesnt shut his game plan down with a 3 point lead in the third quarter trying to hold the lead.
