Brady Quinn as he relates to Andre Johnson

Jackass of Day!

Pulling together all the video I could find, I tried to learn all i could about Brady Quinn. The one common thing about most of the throws I saw on this highlight reel is they were all HIGH. Now, this is either going to mean one of two things in the NFL..either he is going to throw a lot of picks, or having a big, tall, reciever like Andre Johnson is going to be eaxctly what he needs to be successfull. Quinn does a lot of things well, he moves in the pocket, avoids pressure, throws strongly on the run. The flaws I see are that he tends to float his throws on some of his deep balls, and tends to be high on most of his throws. I don't like the guy, and still prefer landry at the 8 spot, but I have to admit the potential with Andre is there

you're right there is potential there is also the same potential with stanton and kolb IMO...that's why i'm for landry #1...and one of the other guys later

you see tom brady do the same thing. i'm not totally sure, but i think it's charlie weiss' way of making the receivers be able to catch the ball better. because his receivers never drop passes, and they always make those kinds of high acrobatic grabs. i guess in theory, if they can snag those in, the ones in the chest should be fairly easy.

Yes. We have WAY more pressing needs than QB. Draft Landry & maybe even McCauley in the 2nd. THEN draft Kolb / Stanton in the 3rd. I would love this.

But how does that translate to recievers who aren't tall like samardjzia and andre johnson? I would think the proclivity to throw high would get him picked off a lot more than the numbers bear out

im saying look at tom brady. he's never had a tall receiver. i think quinn is taught to throw a bit high by weiss. i'll need to see more of what he did pre-weiss though. could just be a coincidence between the two QB's.

Brady Quinn has the desire to be great, and that paired with his already excellent natural ability is why I think he's going to end up better than JR.

But as far as the tendency to throw high, if Houston drafts him I wonder how much Kubiak's style is going to differ from Weis's.

I don't think throwing high leads to more interceptions. If anything, it keeps the passes from being deflected at the LOS, being picked off by a lurking FS or LB leaping into the air. If you overthrow the receiver on a deep route, it just hits the ground behind them

not true all the time.

I'm interested to hear what your inside source has to say now, that you all but assured everyone David would be returning to finish his extension, is everything still in place as told

no way I take a QB after passing on VY last year. the supporting cast is not equiped yet to handle another QB who cannot improvise with his legs, the pocket has yet to be addressed. I will quit as a fan of the Texans if the Texans make a boneheaded move and draft Brady Quinn, worse yet trade up giving away more picks + paying thru the nose the rest of David Carrs extension :money:

I really like your 1-7. I would just hope Gaines Adams can be as successful in the NFL as he was in college.

its evolving thats for sure, I'm hopefull with all the interest now for Peterson/Quinn one of the teams ahead breaks form & Gaines falls to the Texans. I watched him play & he is a mirror image of Mario Williams on a smaller scale, with those two coming off the edge the Texans sack total will double. Meriweather I like because he can also play some corner, very fluid & looks like a ready made NFL playmaker in the secondary. while I'm real high on Kalil he will not be there in the second for the Texans, however they need to address the Center position in a big way & Samson (aptly named) is a beast, high motor/fire plug & remember his QB is coming out next year, so just in case this could be a pre-emptive move before taking Colt Brennan next year.

Aundrae Allison will hopefully still be available in the 4th, I don't know, he can stretch the field & has blistering speed 4.39 is very crafty/creative with his routes, will not give up on the play & get open for his QB. Ryan I've always liked @ the CB position, very good in man to man, when he got beat he knew he had Reggie Nelson covering his backside so that probably made him more aggressive, but I think he can play & have a long NFL career as a CB, for a 5th rd. pick thats saying alot, just ask Pete Faggins. any QB to develop, should be heady, fleet of foot with excellent understanding of the game with the leadership skills to overcome, anyone else see Boise State upset of Oklahoma? Jared is a leader & can move an offense making smart decisions.

some might recognize the name Keith Jackson, he is the son of former NFL great TE Keith Jackson. gives the Texans a run plugger in the middle, saw him @ weigh-in (combine) very thick truck like build should be able to contribute valueable minutes, maybe even develop into a starter in 2-3 years.

Im sorry but drafting a DE with #8 would be crazy.
We already have 4 DEs on the roster who aren't going anywhere:
Williams, Weaver, Kalu, Babin. All 4 of those guys can hold their own in a DL rotation.

We are not moving Weaver to DT, so if there is any position on the DL we need, its DT.

If we draft ANOTHER DE 1st, after spending big money on Weaver, and picking Babin + Williams as 1st rounders, I am going to be truly upset
