Bing National Tailgating Championships

It definitely looked good.

Chocolate Penalty Cake. Recipe available for FREE via www.foodnetwork.com. I'd cut and paste the recipe for you if I could but can't.

Ingredients
18.4 ounce package triple chocolate fudge cake mix
3 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3/4 cup water or 1/2 cup raspberry rum
14 ounces condensed milk
18 ounces raspberry preserves
17 ounces butterscotch topping
1 pint whipping cream
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
1 package fresh raspberries
Fresh mint leaves
Directions
In a large mixing bowl add the cake mix, eggs, oil, water or rum until you have a smooth batter. Pour the batter into a greased 9 by 13-inch cake pan.

Heat a grill to 300 degrees F.

Put the cake pan on the grill, cover with the grill lid, and bake until done, approximately 30 minutes.

When done put the pan on cooling rack, upside down, until the cake drops from the pan. Turn the cake over and put it back into the pan. Poke holes into cake with the handle of wooden spoon, and pour the condensed milk into the holes. Spread the cake with an even layer of raspberry preserves, then spread with butterscotch topping. Whip the cream in a medium bowl until stiff peaks form and spread it over the toppings.

Cut the cake into 3-inch pieces and serve on individual serving plates. Sift cocoa powder over the cakes and garnish each with 2 fresh raspberries and 2 mint leaves. Serve.

I watched that too Joe, and I totally agree!! Bet you a friggin raffle ticket or two that those freaking Raiders don't cook gourmet food at every tailgate. Truthfully, it was disgustiing!! I was pulling for the NINERS!! BUT, to the Raiders credit, I'm thinking about trying out that cake!:) Do ya think any of your Raider pals would send me the receipt?

Grandma the one who cooked it will send me therecipe, and they do cook somewhat like that every tailgate. The tritip is a staple but I do not think they do the appitizers, who does that at a tailgate.I will get you the recipe

Thanks JB!! Let me know the next tailgate you're gonna be at and I might ATTEMPT to make it. :doot:

BTW: Just curious, esp since I don't grill ANYTHING. How do you know a grill is at 300 degrees when you're out on a parking lot? Even if you use a propane grill rather than charcoal, I just don't see how they kept from burning the hell out of this cake.

You hold your hand over the grill. For 300 degrees your hand should start melting in about 7 seconds. Then somebody tells me about this newfangled invention called a thermometer. Thermometer? What is that, French? Whatever, just finish wrapping my hand please.

SA fans vote Blue crew as the best tailgate at reliant...but the philos have the best story ( and battle red crunch)..im not blowing hot air on that one..lights out so to speak(pun intended)

speaking of philos are they back? good to see them again before season over.
