Best Excuse...Worst Excuse...Dumbest Excuse...[:-o>

I realize that I've only been on the boards for a relatively short period of time (4 months), but since I've been around I've seen LOTS AND LOTS :brickwall of EXCUSES regarding the "reasons" the Texans are still LOSING!!!

I am a person that DOES NOT permit a "LOAD" of excuses in my personal life. I take responsibility for screwing things up in my life. Therefore it's repulsive to me to see a bunch of excuses for not performing up to the status of "Professionals."

I'm curious as to what the Best, Worst or Dumbest Excuse that you've heard as to why the Texans are STILL LOSING.
:chicken:
My personal favorites are ones like, "It's the fans' fault...we shouldn't be booing" or "We play in the toughest division in football" or "What are we supposed to do...we play the Colts" or "Well although we technically lost...it was a 'moral victory'" or "We're in a 'rebuilding' season...(for our fourth consecutive year)."
:crying:
I mean, seriously...there are fans on this board that are STILL blaming Casserly and Capers for our losses this year.

How about your favorites?

NOTE: This thread is NOT intended to be a "Texans Hater" thread...this is purely about the EXCUSES set forth by the Texans' Fans. If you don't see the humor in this thread, please resist the urge to click on the "Reply" button...and carry on with your life. [:-o>

The rebuilding year excuse is my favorite and i will use it now....We are in a rebuilding year guys have PATIENCE!!! lol

Actually there is some truth to that.

If we had beat the Giants, do you think they would have had an excuse??

There were two teams out there....... only one can win. We didn't play so poorly that we couldn't win. We just didn't win.

I don't think we need excuses.... I believe we are right where we are supposed to be. We are competitive, and we'll learn how to win in the next game or two.

We learned(I hope) a lesson last week, a new lesson this week, hopefully we'll get the win next week, and go 1-2 on this little Road trip of ours.

Best Excuse: This team was put in a tough spot after the Capers and Casserly era. Years of horrible drafting, poor coaching, and terrible attitudes have crippled us, and it will take Kubiak more than a few months to correct for all that.

Worst Excuse: The Oline needs time to gel! (oh how i hated that one)

Dumbest Excuse: Its the fans fault! If we cheered more and stayed at the games longer, we'd be winning for sure

Dumbest Excuse: Its the fans fault! If we cheered more and stayed at the games longer, we'd be winning for sure

I don't know, there is some merit to that one.

If we'd make noise like other fans do, starting when the other team is in the huddle, and not waiting till after they break the huddle........ maybe we can get our guys some real homefield advantage.

I know, I know we can only root so much for a loosing franchise....

But go into Lambo, any game this year, and the Packers have homefield advantage, every game, for a long long time now.

Personally, I hate using the word "excuse". If we make "excuses" for the loss, that implies that the loss is OK because of the excuse. That's not true.

We all want to win every game. Unlike some people, I think the concept that losses are "unacceptable" is stupid. It makes a great sound-bite but it's an impossible standard to live up to. Everyone loses. Accept that.

What we do is really more of a post-mortem and coming up with "reasons" why we lost. It's just asking what went wrong and what could be done to "fix" it so we can start winning in the future. Right now, we've got a bad team. So the questions are

1. Why?
2. What can be done to fix it?
3. IS something being done to fix it?

Right now, I think we all have a laundry list of Texans problems. Personally, I believe The Texans are taking steps to fix those things. There are no magic bullets. There is no one who could come in and make this team be a winning team immediately. We've got to go through the process of becoming a winning organization. As fans, we have to be aware that this isn't going to happen over night. And if you think that's an excuse... well... you're wrong. It's just a fact.

Not to be rude but it hurts my eyes to try to read your stuff, thats probably why people dont read all you write

Then why post???
If you aren't going to read the thread???
No offense taken by the way.
:grouphug:

Why post something with a bunch of text colors and size changes if it makes it less legible and harder to understand?

I totally didn't see that little red script at the bottom of your first post but even if I had, I probably would have responded the same anyway. You didn't post that as a joke, you posted it to make a point, right? And there were other posts AFTER yours, right? My reply was as much to the other replies in the thread as it was to your initial post.

Wasn't aware that two different colors consituted "a bunch."
Sorry for the confusion that is associated with the colors, red and blue.
:sarcasm:
It's clear that not many folks are gonna post on here for fear of being called a Texans hater...but the truth is that there are more people out there that aren't please than are willing to admit. It's all good. Maybe the thread will just die of natural causes.

Just relax a little brother. It WAS just a joke!

Well, I am color blind and the different colors bother me.

But, of all the guys posting to this board, I might be the least stressed. Remember that the tone that you read someone's post is not necessarily the tone that the wrote it.

Please DON'T take offense to this...
I taught school and coached with a guy that was TOTALLY color blind. He and his wife got a divorce in our second year of teaching together and I had to pick his wardrobe out for him. No kidding. I used to make fun of him by telling him, "Dude, you must've been the ONLY kid in kindergarten that DIDN'T get excited about a Brand New 64 count box of Crayons." "What's up with this? 64 different shades of gray!"

I'm very hard to offend and talking about being color blind isn't about to do it. :)

I'm not totally color blind; I see color just not the same way other people do. Camouflage doesn't do much to camouflage for me because the colors are wrong. When I was in high school, I was dating this girl and one night she got one of those huge boxes of crayons and would make marks with two different colors and say "Do these look the same?" and then add another mark or two and say "How about these?" That went on most of the night.

Even now, I have to get my wife to pick out which clothes go together.

But the light blue doesn't give me much contrast and the red is just hard to read on a white background.

So what colors do best on the boards? Black is just too boring for me...

This one? #1
This one? #2
This one? #3
This one? #4
This one? #5
This one? #6
This one? #7
This one? #8
This one? #9

I'll be sure to use the right one when posting a reply to your quotes. lol

Hah.

#5 is probably the best. But second best is #7 which is the one you normally use, right? I think the use of the bigger font helped, though. Maybe it's more a function of just getting old.

Very true but, IMO, we are heading in the right direction. It took 4 years to get us in this mess and it will take some time to work out of it.
