The Bengals are surprising alot of people we are very excited in Bengaldom, we havent had much to get excited about for quite a while. .

Boomer I feel for you. I am originally from Louisiana and was a Saints fan for 30+ years. I know what it's like.

Speaking of Boomer, one of the funniest moments in football I have ever seen was one game when the Bengals were in the Superdome playing the Saints. The league had just put in the "noise rule, 5 yard penality. The Bengals was close to the Saints endzone, the fans yelling like crazy. They threw the flag against the Saints for too much noise, the Bengals Offense couldn't hear. Boomer was kneeling on the sideline waving his arms, egging the fans on to yell, and be damn the Saints got another noise flag. After they stepped off the penality, Boomer was waving his arms again.

This was so funny, I was laughing so hard, I was crying. Don't know if you remember this or not. I will never forget it.

Sorry, yet another Bengals fan sticking his nose in here. I promise to be nice. :)

One thing that confused me with the Texans was the promotion of Pendry to offensive coordinator. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't the offensive line been a bit of an achilles heel to this offense? Is it really wise to put that guy in charge of the offense when he has had questionable results with the line?

Or have I just shown how little I know about the Texans team?

Realy I question the move to. Alot of Texans fans think he was fired to give capers more time. Pendry runs the offense that capers wants to run. Which is Run. :brickwall

Makes sense then. I like Davis. He needs to hold onto the ball a little better, but I really like his versatility. What did he have, 1700ish yards of offense last year? Give that kid the ball and throw it to Andre anytime the defense pulls those safeties up.... Although I just noticed your angry, head banging icon. I'm guessing you don't dig that run oriented offense of the Steelers?

I wouldnt mind having a run oriented offense if we had a good oline and a big bruiser at RB.

It is pretty obvious now that Pendry was brought in to replace Chris Palmer if he couldn't right the offense. Pendry was Caper's O.C. in Carolina the first four years of existence and the Bills O.C. the first two years Bledsoe was there. He has had some success elsewhere. Whether he can do anything with this group is another issue.

I feel that part of the problem with the O-line is that the play calling has been so predictable based upon our formations and personnel, that defenses can anticipate what the line will attempt to do. That is a recipe for failure. O

Our best offensive player is AJ (Andre Johnson). He went to the Pro Bowl last year and is double-teamed just about every play. Playing opposite of him is Corey Bradford. Bradford has speed and is great at the long bomb, but has suspect hands and an inability to get open on intermediate routes. Jabar Gaffney (who has been injured) and Derrick Armstrong are very reliable possession receivers, but are not great at getting YAC's. Our TE's are below average and one-dimensional. DD (Dominick Davis) is an average back with good hands, some quickness, and good field vision. He doesn't have breakaway speed, and he isn't a power back (although he can run through a tackle). The big issue is the line. We lose the battle of the trenches on most plays, and often get flagged for pre-snap penalties. A rookie to watch is WR Mathis. He has 4.28 speed, but has been sidelined the first two games. He will probably return kicks and see a few plays on offense.

Defensively we have no pass-rush. In fact, I don't think any of the front seven has a sack yet this season. ROLB Antwaan Peek has speed, but his head isn't always on straight. The front-seven really seems to underperform as a unit. We do have a shut-down corner in Dunte Robinson, but we have issues at the other cornerback spot. Carson Palmer will probably be picking on the #2 and #3 corners (Faggins and Buchanon) all day.

The one guy on our team that performs well every week is our punter. When you can say that, you know you are in for a long season.

Not that it matters but Peek smacked Roethlisberger for a sack. Seemed like a coverage sack but it was still a sack.

Just double checked the spelling of Roethlisberger and I got it right from memory. <Pats self on the back>

Look at the stats before the Bengals v Bears game last Sunday. The Bears were one of the top rated defenses before the game and playing at Soldier Field is no easy task.

But anyway you want to spin it or slice it the Bengals will be 4-0 at about 4 pm on Sunday 10/02/05.

Guys, relax, yes we know that you are 3-0, but two of the three teams you plaid had top 5 draft picks last year! Come on, the Bears and the Browns? Give me a break. Oh, and on the point of the great Bears D and tought road trip to Soldier Field, last year we played the Bears at Soldier Field in freezing temperature and beat the great Bears and their D 24-5! I know you guys are on the rise and definatley have potential, but please, don't come on to our board talking smack beacuse you beat the Browns and the Bears! :penalty:

Don't forget MN! I gotta say the 5-11 bears of last year are gone, except now they have a rookie qb, so maybe not. You guys do have the best smileys :bguitar:

so is it carr or the o-line? do you guys think ragone will get a chance soon if you don't win?

The 1st 2 games it has been a combination of both. When the line broke down...Carr didnt make the best decisions. The Squeelers and Bills have dam good pass rush though. We had a tough start, but theyll get it together.

One thing I'm wondering about, how is it that the Bengals "only" scored 24 points when bears QB Orton threw _5_ INT's?

Our 24 points were a little misleading. The Bengals had one touchdown pass fail because of an obvious pass interference call on the Bears, but it wasn't called. Also, the Bengals took a knee on the final two plays of the game, while at the Bears 2-yard line. The 24-7 final score could have easily been 38-7.

Regarding the Bengals' first three opponents:

I wonder if the Colts, Bucs and Redskins think the Bengals have played three bad teams?

Probably not, since the undefeated Colts struggled to beat the Browns, the undefeated Bucs struggled to beat the Vikings, and the undefeated Redskins struggled to beat the Bears.

There are only four undefeated teams left, and the other three have struggled to beat the same three teams the Bengals have blown out. Just a little FYI.

Did your O suck, I would think that you, based on the 5 INT's, should be able to score more, or at least produce more yardage?

Anywho, I'm looking forward to next week's game, hopefully We'll be able to pull a rabbit out of our hats and surprise a 3-0 Cincin team :)
Marvin louis and Lovie are good friends and marvin refused to run up the score on the bears. i.e. palmer taken a knee in the red zone with more than a min. and a half to go. But if you like we might not be that nice to you.

Thanks for joining us here on the official Texans boards. It's a shame that your stay will be so short since this account will likely be banned. (Vinny was quicker than my hitting the [Submit Reply] button. I had this post locked and loaded. Damn you Vinny!!!! ) Your lame attempt at trolling was weak at best. Fortunately the majority of Bengals fans have been nothing but class and can easily overshadow a few weak trolls like yourself.

We enjoy football talk here and would welcome you to participate in any and all discussions. It's too bad you had to start with this kind of garbage.

If that's a taste of what you're getting on your boards, I apologize for the Texan fans for bringing such lame smack. You'd figure something better can come up for knowledge than a tired overused movie quote. Ah well.

Sorry to hear about your burning sensation, may want to go get an ointment for that.

The Bengals might beat the Texans, but I just wanted to remind y'all:

Texas 25, Ohio State 22 IN COLUMBUS.

Comparatively speaking, the Longhorns are playing better than the Texans right now (note: I never said they could beat them)....If the Longhorns played OSU ten times this year, I think Texas would win six of them...I don't think you could say the same about Houston.

Better check again.

In the final five minutes of the game the Vikings were deep in Tampa Bay territory with a chance to tie the game. Instead, Culpepper threw an interception that killed the drive. Then in the final minute of the game, with the Bucs only trying to run out the clock, Cadillac Williams broke loose for a 71-yard touchdown run. The final score was not at all indicative of the kind of game it was. And by the way, before Williams' late run the Vikings defense had held the Bucs to only 40 total yards in the second half.

Wow. I am so glad to be a native Texan when I see moronic **** like this. How long ya been a fan of the Bengals there Bengal fan? About 5 days I would guess. The band wagon jumpers are usually the biggest trolls.

That's for sure. Even when they jump off the wagon they tend to troll.

I see your board does have "Ignore List" capability. Possibly a good use for it?

I'm another Bengals fan here, and proud to say I'm here to just enjoy some friendly banter before the game.

Good luck with the rest of your season, and here's to no injuries on Sunday!
