So he could run into the RDE and the LT, with no receiver to throw the ball to?

Not to mention that the LDE also has a clear path to him as well.

Corner oneself in, they say.

But most importantly, it't not a tendency as steelb likes to suggest.

Watson was simply moving in the direction he thinks that will give the better chance to complete a pass.

That's all there is to it.
Here is a good example of what you are posting in regards to getting a better chance to complete a pass. Here is Watson, "drifting" to the left.

I will point it out in the game thread tomorrow.

He needs to learn to step up into the pocket and deliver an accurate ball instead of drifting.

Still waiting. :)
I had friends over today and wasn't paying attention like I normally do.

What I saw today was a young QB that's making 5-6 mental mistakes a game, (some bad like the picks/some not knowing it's better to take a sack instead of throwing the ball away. Others less obvious.

There's hope, but DW4 played the way I expected him to play. Can he improve is the question. Of course he can but I wouldn't bet on it.

No.
Steelb promised to do something during the game.
I told you in the gameday thread that I had friends over and wouldn't be watching the game as closely after the 1st qtr.

I loosely watched the game and as I said before, DW4 had a good game with 4-5 bad decisions. You cant win in the playoffs playing like DW4 did today.

Ur apology should be as loud as Ur disrespect was
If you'd have looked for instances of Watson holding the ball too long yesterday, you wouldn't have seen any.

Is Watson holding the ball too long a myth?
Okay so now we've doubled back to the "time to throw" argument which does have a leg to stand on. Are we done with the Tokyo Drift myth?

My point is just because we didn't see it Sunday doesn't mean it's a myth. It's definitely related to holding the ball too long.

If the ball is coming out on time, we're not going to see the drift

Because the ball is coming out on time.

Yeah, but there has never been a tendency to drift one way or another. :)

Steelb promised that he will point out the tendency.
He never did. Still
I watched the game with my friends last week and will be with family this week. Then at the game the last week.

So I haven't and won't be able to comment on this during the game day thread.

So he has a differing opinion? That's new? He saw it a game or two, but not the last one. So?
He claimed he saw it in the previous game.
I contested it.
He just said he would point it out this last game.
So I hold him accountable.

What does it have to with you?
:)

Because I saw it also and I want this to stay a friendly board

Edit: And he did not say it about the previous game or I wouldn't have been looking for it then... He first mentioned it a few games back. I saw it in the next game. Maybe the second Indy game?

And I had gone through the second Indy game and posted the observations.
In one disputed play, I had refuted TK, and you know that guy has his principles.

I'm happy to go back through the entire season, but I think steelb (and maybe you) who thought that there was a bad tendency drifting to the rìght; really, the onus is on you guys to prove your own point.
Is that how it's supposed to work?

I don't think anyone said 'bad' tendency, but it does happen a time or two a game when he's under pressure. And just because you disagree don't mean it doesn't happen

Again guys, "drifting to the right" is what a casual observer would say without understanding field geometry, passing mechanics, play formation, and defensive aggression. AFter that you can add in the probability theory into the mix to come up with all the possible outcomes to all the possible defensive alignments to go over ALL THE POSSIBLE SITUATIONS!! it is a finite number believe it or not, but could help you answer your own question. I've tried to also follow along with the examples given, but everyone has their own interpretation, and I may be biased (hellooo Im the Watson fan boy remember).

When Watson floats right, its usually an effect to the cause, but its being represented like its a mechanical flaw or even worse some kind of mental deficiency, when in all actuality it could be an advanced QB passing method as I tried to explain earlier in the thread with the instructional video.

You guys can still say and feel how you want obviously, but I just think you are making a mountain out of a molehill.

I thought it was just a casual mention of something that occurs occasionally. Then there was the over-reaction to that opinion based on who made the observation.

there is some piling on for sure. as the proclamations become more and more exaggerated then the responses will in turn go the same route just natural human inclinations. I do it, and I always try to tell myself to remain cool, calm and collected - how many Jerry McGuire Manifestos have I had here LMAO too many. Its a passionate subject. You will get passion on both sides.

Does he lose his technique and mechanics at times - hell yeah he does. They all do. Saying it happens frequently or every game is the hyperbole that lead to the over-reaction of stats/videos/film study in the first place. Some LIGHT digging is all that was required to at the very least dispel the rumor/myth that it was some kind of player flaw that happens routinely. No biggie.

I'd much rather discuss his T2T number and criticize Watson for having a top 3 pass blocking line, and his penchant for trying to hit home runs vs singles. Doc and some of you other guys get whipped into a frenzy when he runs around with the loaf of bread in his hand, and that is a very valid and concerning observation. HE DOES DO THAT. It leads to fumbles, and he needs to be better at protecting the ball as a runner/pocket passer. He puts his body on the line far too frequently for my taste. He's probably the luckiest QB i've studied this year in terms of defenders dropping INTS .. those numbers could look much worse. Even with all those "warts" he made another pro bowl and is AT THE VERY LEAST in the conversation for the best QBs in the league, and he will be for the foreseeable future.

He DOESNT have issues reading a defense. He DOESNT have issues making adjustments at the LOS. He IS NOT an idiot/imbecile/moron who doesnt understand the passing game. I only have to defend that take from Texans fans HERE! That take isnt even embraced on a NATIONAL level by other fanbases who feel THEIR QB is the best that ever was. Other fanbases know we have a great young QB here as well, and he will only get better.

nice to see you trying to get along

:sarcasm:
You can't get along with people like that.

I'm still pissed about the double standards.

I mean one of the mods moved a Powdas hot seat thread to the non sports section. Said it wasn't about football and all we talked about was football in that thread.

When the bear consistently growls in absolutes, it should expect the occasional poke. :fingergun:

All responses have been well within the guidelines of forum rules to "attack the post, not the poster".

If you want to make absolute statements about perception analysis, expect some requests for confirmation. That's how debates work.

What bear are you talking about and what absolutes?

If you mean absolutes like double standards then I you would be correct.

C'mon, man, don't act coy. You know when you make absolute statements about the Texans franchise QB people are going to disagree. Same way you respond when someone makes an absolute statement that you disagree with.

Nothing justifies personal attacks toward you and they will be handled accordingly. But your takes are fair game, especially as often as you espouse them.

I have no problems with this.

Other than I don't think DW4 can bring a championship to the city, and I hope I'm wrong, I haven't made any absolute statements.
