06 Early Mock Draft W/Texans Trading Bush

subject to change as underclassman declare intentions (took the liberty with Reggie since this is the worst secret in the world of football) but otherwise expect some changes & explanations to follow. enjoy! agree to disagree whatever I know its far from perfect just a work in progress. such as Vernon Davis announced his intention to enter the draft so he was included as the Texans 1st pick of the second round & now I've learned that Oakland won a coin toss for the tiebreaker with the 49er's so they switch picks.

OK the underclassman are now declaring in droves, to simplify I'll just add changes in bold print, this thing is really evoloving, a great year to have alot of high picks.
:)

1 Texans- Reggie Bush, RB USC

2 Saints- Matt Leinart, QB USC

3 Titans- Jimmy Williams, CB VT

4 Jets- D'BRICKASHAW FERGUSON, OT UV (trade w/Texans for Bush. besides the rights for D'Brick, the Texans get this years 2nd & 3rd and 2nd next year- #1 pick being worth 3000 pts. = #4 1800 + #35 550 + 70th 240 & next years second rounder.)

5 Packers- Mario Williams, DE North Carolina State

6 Raiders- AJ Hawk, LB, OSU

7 49er's- Tamba Hali, DE Penn State

8 Rams- Mathias Kiwanuka, DE/OLB BS

9 Bills- Haloti Ngata, NT UO

10 Cards- DeAngelo Williams, RB Memphis

11 Lions- Jay Cutler, QB Vanderbuilt

12 Browns- Ryan 'OCallaghan, OT California

13 Ravens- Michael Huff, CB/FS UT

14 Eagles- Santonio Holmes, WR OSU

15 Falcons- Tye Hill, CB Clemson

16 Dolphins- Marcus McNeil, OT Auburn

17 Vikings- Laurence Maroney, RB MN

18 Cowboys- Eric Winston, OT U

19 Chargers- Quinn O'Jinnaka, OT SU

20 Chiefs- Gabe Watson, DT Michigan

21 Patriots- Abdul Hodge, ILB Iowa

22 Broncos via Redskins- Broderick Bunkley, DT FSU

23 Panthers- Mercedes Lewis, TE UCLA

24 Bucs- Andrew Whitworth, OT LSU

25 Bears- Jonathan Scott, OT UT

26 Bengals- LaRon Landry, S LSU

27 Giants- Titus Adams, DT Nebraska

28 Steelers- Chad Greenway, OLB Iowa

29 Jaguars- Alan Zemaitis, CB Penn State

30 Broncos- Davin Joseph, OT/G OU

31 Seahawks- Elvis Dumervil, DE Louisville

32 Colts- DeMarco Ryans, OLB Alabama

33 Texans- Max Jean-Gilles, OG Georgia

34 Saints- Winston Justice, OT USC

35. Texans- Vernon Davis, TE Mayland

I don't like trading rights to picks after we draft them, while it ensures we get the guy we want (I still would rather have Winston than Ferguson anyways, but I'll reserve final judgement until after combine/workouts), Ferguson is going to expect to get paid like the #1 pick (like Rivers did a couple years ago with San Diego).

The site I saw had the Raiders in front of the 49ers, so I'm not sure who will be ahead of the other between the #6/7 picks.

I doubt Jean-Gilles goes that high, he is a good OG but they generally don't get picked too high, I'm also not sure O'Callaghan goes that high either over some of the other OT, and I'm not sure Davin Joseph will creep into the 1st round.

I don't see the Eagles going for a DE in the 1st round, I think they're relatively solid there and they need help at WR so they'd likely look for one there or else trade down to get one (you don't have any WR in the 1st round and I have to believe at least one will go, maybe later than the Eagles current pick though).

Overall not a bad mock draft at all.

Anything is possible,

But I do like the fact that Rod Wright will still be there at the top of the second round for us. :yahoo:

I don't really think that draft will happen. Reggie is worth more than a typical 1st round pick. I would not want to trade him for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and next years 2nd. Nor do I believe that we would be offered that by the Jets. The Jets have too many holes to fill to give up that much for one player. If they really want a running back they will trade down and take DeAngelo Williams or Laurence Maroney, or they will sign a free agent RB in the offseason like Shaun Alexander or Ahman Green.

I think a more realistic top 10 is:

1. Houston- Reggie Bush RB Southern Cal
2. New Orleans- Matt Leinart QB Southern Cal
3. Tennessee- Vince Young QB Texas
4. New York Jets- D'Brickinshaw Ferguson OT Virginia
5. Green Bay- Mario Williams DE NC State
6. Oakland- AJ Hawk LB Ohio State
7. San Francisco- Jimmy Williams DB Virginia Tech
8. St. Louis- Paul Posluszny LB Penn State
9. Buffalo- Haloti Ngata DT Oregon
10. Arizona- DeAngelo Williams RB Memphis

Now i do like this... this is thinking. If we are going make a deal with the Jets we would tell the Jets who we want. Wheither its Dbrick, Winston, McNeil, Williams, Hawk, or Greenway. Personally i am seeing Dbrick, Williams, Hawk or Greenway. Remember we dont have to go OL with the 1st pick. We dont need to go RB, QB, DL, TE, WR in the 1st. Personally i would be happy with this. I do think day would be a better pick for us but hes more a 3rd rounder at TE. Then plus we have 3 3rds. We can totally revamp our team with 6 1st day picks. I understand they are rookies but are they worse than what we have. We could take Hawk, Greenway, or Williams with the 1st pick. Then either trade up into late 1st round or just take OG or a RT at #33. then at #35 we could go CB/LB depending on what we take in teh 1st. THen in the 3rd we could go TE, OL, DL

god I would hate to see Vince Young go to the titans

Beer nice start buddy. As you said at the start it is a work in progress and will look much different in about a 2mos. I will reserve comment till later on though.

IMO, I think the Titans will address another area with their round 1 pick. Im thinking D'Brick.

I think the Browns pick of Ryan 'OCallaghan is a little off. With Winston, Justice, and McNeil on the board.

I think the Vikings have enough RB's for next year. They should focus on getting Culpepper better protection, or weapons. Maybe a TE?

Colts get a steal with Ryans at 32. And NO gets a steal with Justice in 2nd round.

Last, but not least, If I give up Bush, and the #1 overall pick, I get your first round pick next year. Period. I also get your 1st and 2nd round this year.

Bush, and Matt, are worth as much as Eli was last year.

For the most part I agree with your assessments, although I could see the Vikings getting a stud RB like DeAngelo Williams if he is available. All of their current RBs are pretty good athletes but not at all a workhorse type of RB, and DeAngelo could solve that problem for them. They haven't had one of those since Robert Smith retired, and their offense hasn't been very well-rounded since.

thanks for all the feedback guys :thumbup

Just could not wait to post any longer, so what you get is a running diary. I did drop Jean-Gilles down to the Texans but does not mean I'm giving up on Davin Joseph for instance if they exchanged positions. I'm still waiting for Justice to declare but I included him anyway, we'll see when USC vs. Longhorns lock-up.

Concerning other picks Ryan will probably drop as more underclassman declare but he will be an excellent NFL tackle, great size, technique & injury free. Vikings would love to upgrade RB & change the offensive system DeAngelo is going to be a very good NFL RB. And I liked the USC combo of Leinart & Justice to the Saints (they need something positive):)

Good overall 1st round mock. I really like the Greenway to Pitt pick.

I cant wait until we do the message board mock. Those are fun.

What are the message board mocks?

its a ton of fun assuming all those who sign-up follow through in a timely manner, but basicly it works like this:

1. pick a team you want to GM, 1st come 1st serve.

2. agree on a start time & abide to the rules, for instance you might have a 12 hour pick time rule to keep things moving.

3. usually it comprises the first three rounds, but if started early enough and everybody is agreeable we could make it a full 7 round NFL draft.

4. you are not allowed to make player trades involved with the picks unless before the time you pick your team has made such trade.

5. you can trade picks for picks but only of the same draft, like say the Broncos trade both 1st rd picks to the Texans (#1) to draft Reggie Bush......

those are just a few of the guidelines, bascily it can start right after the combines, mid to late March so it will start in about 3 months :twocents:

Thanks, that sounds awsome!!!

I am in, just tell me what thread it is and such. It sounds great. One question, is it who you would pick or who the team would pick?

bascily the Moderators have first call, we tend to prefer Vinny play Casserly :) others on first come first serve basis.

speaking of the 1st pick, what if Vince Young declares? would the Texans exercise Carr's option, maybe let him walk and become a free agent? Vince Young would be mighty tempting & would virtually change all Mocks.

Reggie had a good game but not a great game, clearly not the best player on the field. Lendale White if he declares will also change my Mock. Huff was a stud he may move higher up my list from #13.

These next two weeks will be interesting to say the least to see who all is draft eligible
