Bah007's Top 25

I know your "re-sort" every week but I've got know. Was it because USC only beat Washington State by 69 points or because Ball St whipped Western Kentucky by 17 that caused you to suddenly think Ball St is 5 spots better than USC instead of 8 spots worse.

Sorry dude, but you've crossed the line silliness here.

To be honest, I'm not impressed with this week's results either.

I've been tinkering with a computer formula for a few weeks now and these were the results. I can't seem to implement strength of schedule into the results yet.

I was hoping I would have it ready by the time the first BCS standings came out & I just used it even though it wasn't ready. Hopefully I will have it figured out by next week. If not, then I may just scrap it & go back to what I've been doing.

Ahh.....I missed the part where you're using a computer formula. That's pretty interesting. I'd love to see how you're doing it.

my questions for the week ....

How far does OSU drop after playing a close game Vs #1 UT.

Does USC fall some after struggling to beat an unranked Arizona .... after losing to an unranked opponent earlier in the season.

Does TT's trouncing of a good KU team move them ahead of any of those 1 loss teams ?

Here's my top 10

1) UT
2) Bama
3) PSU
4) OU
5) TT
6) Georgia
7) OSU
8) Florida
9) Utah
10) ...... anyone but USC

Still experiencing problems with my computer formula. I got strength of schedule involved but all it did was skew the results:

USC, Ohio St, Virginia, Oregon St, Duke, & Colorado all ranked too high because of inflated strength of schedule.

Texas Tech & Boise St kinda low because of weak schedules so far.

:( You don't have FSU on there. We are #15 in the BCS rankings.

And you have VT there, who we just beat by 10 and they have more losses than we do. And you have Wake Forest there, who have a record of 4-3 with a terrible offense. Also Colorado just got DESTROYED by Missouri...not sure they should be in the top 25.

I'm dissapointed to see all these ACC teams ahead of the best team in the ACC (FSU). :(

Wow , what a jump by USC from 11 up to 3 after struggling to beat a team they should beat handily.

TT falling after kicking the snot out of a good team ....

PSU falling behind a 1 loss team after beating a very good Ohio St. team.

If its any consolation....FSU was #27.

Then again, it shouldn't matter. My formula sucks right now.

I didn't think it would be that difficult but there is just so many college teams that it is hard to connect them in a formula.

I'm very much a homer when it comes to FSU. Exponentially more than I am with the Texans.

I haven't actually seen the new rankings for this week, so I'll go look after I post this. But I wanted to say that OU lost to Texas, Georgia has a single loss, and that was to Alabama. Texas Tech has been dismantling folks. OK St. put up a helluva fight against Texas.

Penn St. beat ..... who besides Ohio St.? And they tried to lose against Ohio St. I don't know; I am just not that impressed by PSU. Or by USC, for that matter.

The BCS computers are about to start killing USC right now.

They have them at 6 right now, but only because their strength of schedule is #6 in the country.

They still have Washington, Stanford, & UCLA on their schedule when teams from other conference are about to play their toughest games.

They will continue to move up in the human polls, but I wouldn't be suprised to see them start falling in the computers.

Really , they have had the #6 schedule thus far in playing two ranked teams ? Coulda fooled me .... I thought that was a pansy schedule .... outside of Ohio St.

Virginia is really helping them out. They are near the front of the ACC race.

Ohio St is near the top of the Big Ten race.

Even Oregon St & Oregon are near the top of the Pac 10 race.

As I said, their SOS is inflated because they have already played their toughest games. I seriously doubt that they will have a really high SOS by the end of the season.

Put any of the teams USC has played in the Big 12 or SEC and they would be lucky to win one game and thats if Baylor was on their schedule. (outside of OSU) Their schedule looks mighty questionable to be 6th most difficult in the country.

I'm not saying your wrong.

I'm just telling you where their schedule is ranked.

These are the top ten toughest schedules to date:
1. Washington
2. Virginia
3. Purdue
4. Oregon St
5. Duke
6. USC
7. Arizona St
8. Washington St
9. Arkansas
10. Colorado

The reason the Pac 10 teams have such good SOS ratings is because they have to go out and play tough non-conference competition to make up for their weak conference.

i almost completely agree, though i'm finding it hard to put USC in a position to move up. you also cant put an undefeated SEC team behind any 1-loss team, there's no opinion to justify it. as for USC, i know the talent and record and defense but i'd put them at around #10. they'd be lucky to escape as a 3 loss team in the big 12 south and a 2 loss team in the SEC. on paper/performance, could you imagine the brutality of a tech or texas vs USC matchup? while everyone else is having a respectable season, the big 12 and SEC elite are at an entirely different level.

Hm, interesting. I do think Texas and Florida are the best two teams in the country. That would be a dream title game.

Hey I didn't realize that! Awesome! We're 5-4 right now but really are a lot better than that record. We lost on a last second FG at Wake Forest, shot ourselves in the foot the whole game against Vandy and lost by 6, shot ourselves in the foot against South Caroline and lost by 7, and were in position at mid field at the end of the game to go and beat Alabama but didn't and lost by 4. Lot of close games and I would put us really at 7-2 right now (loss to Bama and loss to Florida even though we won that game, the others we shoulda won). We've go UL Monroe, LSU, and Miss. St. left and I think we win out putting us at 8-4 and bowl game finally!

Note: I have no clue why Ball St randomly fell 10 spots despite being undefeated. They have the easiest schedule among FBS teams, but that is pretty much where they were last week. I may have made a mistake in their calculation somewhere...
