Nice list. I was surprised to see Watkins @ 2 and Lee @ 8. Also thought you were going to have Greg Robinson higher than 9 for some reason. seemed like the consensus was thinking he is more talented than Matthews.

Lee is certainly the more polished WR, but Watkins is just a special player. Both are #1's in a NFL offense.

Robinson obviously has a higher ceiling. I think he could turn into a franchise LT where Matthews is likely a long term starter at RT or OG. But at this point in time Matthews is the better player. I may switch them later if I decide that Robinson's potential weighs heavier than Matthews technical prowess, but I haven't seen enough of Robinson to convince me that he is that player, just that he could be.
 
I've seen Anthony Barr play twice to include his bowl game appearance and his effort on each occasion was very lame. If the play did not come to his side of the field, he would basically just default into full-blown observer mode and watch the play unfold. This is very disappointing because his athleticism makes him capable of back-side pursuit and making a contribution to his team and also just raises the basic question if the guy has a real passion for the game of football ? Difficult to consider him worthy of top ten consideration, and a real stretch to rate him the 3rd best non-QB prospect in this Draft IMO.

This is an extremely minor criticism. This kind of thing could easily be fixed with coaching and more experience. He has played on the defensive side of the ball for a grand total of two years.

And his passion for football shouldn't really be up for debate. This guy was a highly recruited all state RB in high school who had every reason to expect that he would be given every opportunity to be the main man when he got to college. Instead, he was moved from RB to WR to TE and then to OLB all within his first two years. Most guys either transfer or quit under those circumstances. He responded by leading the entire nation in sacks in his first year as a defender.

He has holes in his game due to inexperience. He is a very raw prospect. But what you're describing as a serious issue is actually easily correctable.
 
Dee ford,vic beasley,markus smith,and clowney will be much better pass rushers than barr. Barr can't bend and convert speed to power. Everything he does is a speed rush. He will be more like manny lawson than aldon smith.

I really meant that I thought top 10 for either of them seems high. But I am no expert on these guys and need to watch more of their games. I guess I am just expecting more from a WR drafted in the top 10. These guys are not AJ Green or Julio Jones (Who is...), or even a Tavon Austin with crazy speed.

The only other top 10 guy in the past 3 seasons is Blackmon (suspended) who I fell in love with coming out of OKST. And right now I think either of those guys will have a hard time doing what he has done.

I know I am getting the big board and draft slot twisted here, but I would probably put Watkins around 12, an Lee around 16.

I like your first 2 picks in Clowney and Watkins. I would hope we'd Draft Clowney because he's one of the most talented players to enter the NFL Draft at any position in the last several years but fear the new HC will be so anxiuos to prove his alleged expertise with QBs that he'll be unable restrain himself from reaching for one of this years QBs with the Texans' top pick. And Watkins is also an outstanding talent, a bonafide number one type WR.
OK SO I know Barr is a former running back with limited experience as a defensive player, but this isn't an issue of inexperience because when I watched him play because he seemed to be downright indifferent about pursuing the ball carrier and contact in general. Afterall we are talking LB here, and drafting somebody who seems averse to physical contact with the first overall would be a total disaster. I want my LBs breathing fire and in full pursuit of the action on every snap - think Brian Cushing, not some Namby Pamby idly standing by as he watchs the backside of the play drift out of sight. Not a good look for nfl line backers ! If you ever played football you know passion for the game is not teachable, you got it or you don't got it. It's truly an instinctive element.
 
Barr reminds me of Bruce Irvin, who admittedly, I was not high on when he came out because he was a one trick pony. But that one trick is a pretty important one, and he was pretty good at it his rookie year.

I can see why a team would be scared of Barr. But he is still so raw that I think the right coaching situation could turn him into a monster.

Love Joyner he is my #2 rated DB in this draft. Martin is very underrated. While Donald was the best college DL I saw last yr, I wonder how he is going to hold up in the NFL at 280 Lbs. No ASJ?

Tuitt has 19.5 sacks the last two years as a 34 DE, and that counts the first half of this season when he was slowed by coming off hernia surgery. He is criminally underrated by most.

Lee is a polished WR who runs solid routes and consistently gets open. His numbers were down this year due to playing on an offense with subpar QB play and no running game. He was considered to be superior to Robert Woods who had a solid year in Buffalo as a rookie.

ASJ is #34, just off this list.

Put him at RT and let Watt beat his ass every day in practice until he either straightens up or earns the right to act the way he does.
 
Also with TE being so valued in today's NFL, I can see those 3 being gone before 33 for sure. And Teddy will need a solid TE as an outlet.

#1. We should consider the cost of Graham and Daniels if we cant get a good one in the draft.
#2. Safety would be wise to invest in if we want more versatile defenders who can cover these TEs.
 
There is good TE depth through the fourth round this year so I'd like to see us grab one. I wouldn't be upset going into next year with Graham, Griffin, and a rookie at TE.

I like a CB/S hybrid at FS for that exact reason. I even prefer a guy who has had some cross training at CB.

Jimmie Ward and Marqueston Huff are both mid-round guys who are not natural CB's, but they can play FS and cover guys. Both played a bit of CB at the Senior Bowl because of a lack of prospects. Huff struggled, but Ward was pretty good apparently.

I like Huff a little bit. Huge fan of Ward. Also like Tre Boston, who started his college career as a CB before moving over to S.

Few years back I either read or heard a radio interview with Gil Brandt where he ranked players just like this in tiers. Trouble is, these guys (draft pundits) are forced to provide the buying public "money shots" like a definitive ranking and hoplessly unrealistic mocks.

I do take it into account. I finished this up the day before the combine so that I can see how much it changes after.

A lot of the injury concerns don't come up until the combine so I cannot adjust until after. There are often rumors but you don't know for sure until the guys go through their medicals.

Clowney and Nix both had concerns but I wanted to wait until I hear what the teams think.

Kouandijo had no concerns coming in but his knee set off alarms for a bunch of teams.

I don't have the access to the players that the teams do so I try to take the guesswork out of it by waiting until the combine physicals to take injury into account.

Thanks for responding.

I understand that for someone like Cyrus Kouandjio, but Clowney and Nix's issues have been known for a while. I wouldn't anticipate anything other than a source saying they haven't been rendered undraftable.

Well there's a couple of guys who are going to be making big moves in my next update.

Kouandjio is dropping big time because of his knee.

Lewan is moving up a little bit. I had knocked him for athleticism and he proved me wrong at the combine.

Beckham and Moncrief are both moving up. I've had them rated way higher than everybody else and I keep dropping them trying to get closer to the consensus. Not anymore. They are what I thought they were athletically.

Troy Niklas is moving up. I was behind on him because I wasn't expecting him to declare. The more I watch the more I like.
