Ric's 3 pressing issues going forward...
With that in mind, I see three pressing items looming over the 2006 season, and since the current team is giving us absolutely no reason to discuss their weekly goings-on, we might as well tackle what’s ahead. The three items are: what to do with David Carr, who will be the new head coach, and which direction should we go in the draft with the first overall pick? Ahhhh… warms the heart, doesn’t it?

An interesting read. I'm very excited about the idea of re-animating Lombardi's corpse to coach the Texans. I wasn't aware the technology was there yet and I always assumed that when it happened Green Bay would have dibs. If that isn't the case then hell yeah, I'm onboard with this plan.

Zombie Lombardi throwing the red flag to challenge a call, then eating the referees brain when he comes over to explain why he didn't reverse it? that's the fast track to Monday Night Football people!

Was going ok until he mentions mack brown for coach.
Why not??? Mack Brown has been known to create special bonds with his players, a reason why he never losses a big name guy junior to the draft. So it is not totally crazy to think that a lot of his former players would like to help him in the NFL and come back to the state of Texas to play for their old ball coach when they become free agents. (It's been a long year, gimme a break)

That may be the only way we get big name guys to come here for a few years.... :(

After reading the artical, I still want to keep Carr. But he does raise some good points. Jimmy Johnson would be a good way to get a good buzz around the texans. And he is making me think about Reggie Bush sporting battle red next year, and I like that idea.:yahoo:

I agree with the article on DC - shoot it and put it out of its missery.

The Vince Lombardi’s corpse line was funny though! Do you think the players can EXECUTE any better under Vince's system.

:texflag: Lombardi's system was everyone knows his job . He taught every thing that might go wrong and what to when it does . On the Packers sweep play he drew 27 things that might happen and you better be able to handle your assignment on all 27 or you'd be out the door .

Bring in JJ I say. I would hope that Butch Davis would tag along as HC or DC. Butch was responsible for recruiting Andre Johnson, PBuc and notable free agents Reggie Wayne and Edgerrin James.

I buy everything in this except the "no trade down" clause. Trade the number one for a lower 1 and a couple other picks seems a natural to me.
Yeah, that extra third from that trade down with the Saints is really gonna help us next year...

Get the best player, regardless of position...

Could someone please forward this article to Phillip Buchanon? He needs step out of his fantasyland and get a taste of reality.

Anyone ever heard him on the radio? He talks about himself like he's heading straight to the Hall of Fame after this year. Not that I can understand a word that comes out of his mouth, but that's what my translator tells me.

My thoughts on the draft have always been to get someone for the OL, but I am really starting to come away from that line of thought. SUnday I saw a team that needs help EVERYWHERE, take the best available, I think that's the best course of action.

On the coaching front, this team needs a motivator, simple as that. Would love to see Johnson in there raising hell. I saw a team Sunday that was out of control with it's butt swinging in the breeze. Players need direction and they just don't have it.

I'm in Lala-land atm, watching the Falcons while drinking beer. When looking at the Falcons, fuzzy eyes due to the beer, I imagine they're the Texans (kinda the same uniforms) and that they're moving the ball and scoring on drives. :)
