Bill Simmons,

TEXANS (+6) over Steelers
I was set to take Pittsburgh and write the obligatory, "Note to Dom Capers: Start buying boxes and brown tape right now, just to be safe" joke ... and then Roethlisberger got downgraded to "questionable," leading to one of the scariest sentences in recent gambling history: "If Roethlisberger can't go, Tommy Maddox takes over for the visiting Steelers."

(Um ... I'm taking the points.)

haha well... sorta

I'd rather see Big Ben than Maddox.

Tommy is liable to still be ticked off over that whole "How many times can we pick the guy recovering from a head injury" game. If he starts he's going to sick house on our butts. 300 yards and 2-3 TDs on top of their usual running game

i like the humor, but i just can see that happening

Can or Cant? Also a sports analyst on NFL.com
put us 17-14 over the steelers. Suprised me!

You know, we've never won a second game of the season before. Maybe just maybe, we are trying to do something different for once. Usually when teams do that it means pretty special things for them. We might just be in for a suprise.

Let's rally folks. With Indy and Jville playing each other a win this weekend (no matter how ugly) puts us right in the mix tied for #2 in the division.

Call me crazy, call me stupid, call me a homer.........but I am taking the Texans +6 too! This is the NFL and this is a team I just about gave up on after Sunday's pathetic no show. When I say gave up ( I mean in the gambling sense). One thing I have learned about betting on the NFL (for amusement purposes only) is that when you think a game can only go one way, it goes totally the oppoisite. I have learned this lesson many many times. I really like the under again this week and that is where the bulk of my entertainment money will be. Ben or Mattox, I really don't care. We are and have always been a different team at home.

FWIW, should the Texans win Sunday I would be less surprised than I was with the Buffalo game. Did not necessarily expect they'd win that game, but at this point I expect them to go toe-to-toe, i.e. be competitive with every team they play. They were not competitive in Buffalo. And as I said elsewhere, redemption awaits the Texans at Reliant Stadium this Sunday !

The Teans are the vogue upset pick this weekend. Even one of the BB.com trolls (and a Dallas fan, if you can believe that) picked you guys in his weekly picks... and I quote:

Texans over Steelers: I want to believe the texans are a solid team and the thumping at buffalo was justified since they are even better. They can't play any worse on offense can they? But then again these third string running backs the steelers have are studs. Where on earth do they seem to find these guys?

I don't personally think that Pittsburg's defense is better than ours this year which should bode well for you offensively. I think Carr doesn't get embarassed like he did last week, but I don't expect a huge game. Frankly, I am not overly sold on Big Ben either, the way his numbers fell of later last year when teams started to figure him out. But it is impossible to deny what their running game has afforded Ben to accomplish. You guys were able to stop Buffalo in the red zone, but Ben does have more experiance than JP, and Pittsburg can pound the ball better than we can.

I see it Pitt 20 Texans 17.

Sorry guys, I do hope you get the W, but I need to see a bit more out of the offense than I did last week before I can suggest you might beat the Steelers.

Later.
