In light of the Bradford injury I'm sure Armstrong will play more anyways, but I heard Carr saying on quick snippet on 610 that Pendry is very high on Armstrong and he would be in there in many different sets. Anyone else catch that?
lets hope like hell he gets a LOT more playing time. armstrong's got the best hands on the team and seems to me atleast to be the only guy on the team that carr isnt afraid to step up & fire one off at.
Man...AJ-Gaffney-Mathis-Armstrong. We have it all right there. (Gaffney and Armstrong (Great hands good awareness). Mathis (Crazy good speed, good hands). AJ (Great Awareness,Hands,Decent Speed, Powerful). If we can just get pathetic bradford off the field we will be okay. Hopefully his injury will keep him out and he will retire.
The only problem is that Armstrong lacks the speed to get open and can only survive as a 2nd or 3rd guy. He has great hands, but Bradford when he catches the ball can break away from the pack.
And yeah, Carr is so shell shocked he needs to stay in the pocket a bit longer.
I can't wait to see Armstrong getting more PT. I really would like to see him playing more and see how he would handle starting.
Hopefully Carr can get the ball to him, if it's within a couple of feet within his reach, he will grab it.
Armstrong is a glorified slot receiver. And he is a darn good one. He has the size to be a dominant slot guy and productive 3rd down and redzone threat. His hands are above average and his speed is below average. His recognition is ok, probably better than most of the receivers on our team other than AJ, which is below most receivers in the league. he should definately be a top option on third downs. Gaff was the second best on third down conversions in the league last year and should also help with that situation to make more manageable downs on third. With those to guys underneath and Mathis and Bradford(on ocassion) deep. AJ should be able to clean up on relieved coverages.
