Armstrong for a Starting Pos.

Every week Dom says armstrong has the best hands on the team. He makes great plays when given a chance. Then, coach why is he not starting or getting more playing time? What kind of deal do you have with bradford? Part of this team's problems is the inability of this coaching staff to play the best players available. Derrick Armstrong needs to be in on most plays, start him! or YOUR FIRED!

I'm starting to think that the coaches determine the starters by some combination of the following criteria:

1) Salary
2) Reputation - real or imagined
3) Football History of Attended College (the player's football "pedigree")
4) Time in League

Arkansas-Monticello is a lot to overcome.

I totally agree with you. I wish they would start Armstrong so he could show them what he is made of!!!

"You're FIRED"?
Hey that's the ticket, we could get Capers on the Apprentice!!!!!!!!

I tried to get a chant started in the BP last Sunday, but noone was that interested! Don't blame them really, but, when I saw Armstrong and Ragone throwing passes on the sideline all I could think of was why in the (you know what) is he not out on the field!!? Other than Aj Armstrong has been one of my favorite receivers.

I'm bringing a sign to the Colts game that is gonna say!!

ARMSTRONG!! ARMSTRONG!! ARMSTRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

right now going into the seattle game without andre i would start gaffney and armstrong and have mathis be the number 3 reciever...what's bradford done for us lately...he caught a td pass last game but how about all the other drop balls

Yea, a was never a bradford fan. He drops way to many passes and i just can't see a qb having any conifidence throwing to him. We cut him, nobody picks him up, and then he starts for us. I just don't get it. It just seems this coaching staff has their minds set on certain players and refuse to change. Good effort does not seem to be rewarded with more playing time on this team. I've been impressed with armstrong every time he's in the game. Always comes up with some clutch catches, but not getting near enough playing time.

SheTexan, Capers will never see your big sign. The only way to get the message to him is to find some way to put it on his little note pad.

This is certainly something to think about during the "have the coaches lost the team" threads. If this type of favoritism is being shown, you know the players see it. If a player is busting his butt but the coaches are surrounding him with players who are not the best at his position, then that surely can lead to indifference.

Examples abound; I'm not sure if these specific examples plague our team or not. You know it's going to effect the QB if he thinks the better receivers are on the bench. Carr knows that Armstrong catches everything; I'd think every dropped pass by other receivers might make him question personnel decisions.

It even can effect players across the offense/defense boundaries. The defense is going to get pretty torqued if they think they are staying on the field too long (ignoring their own problems for this example) because the offense doesn't have their best linemen playing. The defensive front seven probably have a pretty good idea who the best lineman are, and if they aren't playing it certainly sends a message.

I have thoroughly lost faith in this coaching staffs ability to evaluate talent. I used to buy into the fact that they saw something that the average fan didn't. At the time, I thought their off season moves were stupid but gave them the benefit of the doubt. We were a much better team with Sharper, Glenn, McCree, and Wright than the garbage we have now. I can't for the life of me understand why Armstrong doesn't play more. To me, he is exactly what they need, a receiver that Carr can trust. Somebody that will go up and make a play. I just hope we lose our coaching staff before we lose Armstrong.

That is SOOOOOO true!! But, maybe Derrick will know that the fans are behind him! I would love to see him get the chance to prove his worth. Capers is to busy with his nose in a playbook to recognize the fact that he has players with great potential sitting on the bench.

Derrick and Gaffney cannot start together, because they are both posession recievers. you think our offense is stale now just imagine two slow guys running the routes we run. If AJ is out then look for Bradford(damn) and Gaffney to start with Armstrong and Mathis shifting into the posisitons. The thing is the injury to AJ might be a good thing. It will force the coaching staff to play Mathis and Armstrong more, which will really help.

I would like to agree with you Coach C. but AJ was out most of the game last week and we saw very little Armstrong. I know that both Gaffney and Armstrong are position receivers, but Bradford brings ZERO to the table as far as stretching the field and the offense has no time for the field to be stretched anyway. I agree with your logic I just want to see Armstrong play.

i like mathis starting.

Yeah, but just how durable is Mathis??? First a hamstring injusy, now a knee injury. Maybe he is just too fast and too fragile.
