Are you guys still on board with hiring Nick Caserio as GM?

Caserio does not bother me because I believe in giving folks a fair shake. We shall see what he can do.

I agree having our own brand would have been nice. Truth is, having something other than Bill O Brien mess...... kinda makes me happy.

He reportedly said there won’t be no “Patriot Way” and instead a “Texans Way.” Glad he’s being his own man. Let’s see who he picks for the HC gig.

had to say that b/c simple-minded folks automatically assumed that b/c he’s coming from there, that’s what he’s gonna be about.

I think it’s becoming pretty apparent that Brady was making everyone in the Patriots organization look good. The guy just makes everyone around him better. Who besides Brady has left the Patriots and had real success elsewhere? Maybe there’s someone but I can’t think of anybody right now. Well, there’s Gronk but he’s here with Brady. Any coaches or front office people?

So with that in mind, why is McNair still obsessed with former Patriots?

So instead of finally pulling our heads out of New England's ass, we bring that ass (no disrespect to Caserio) to Houston. I was hoping to get someone with fresh/new ideas as to the direction of our team. Since we have no draft picks we won't know for a few years if this guy can identify and pull off good draft picks, make smart contracts/trades and be a good GM. I just don't have the energy to waste another 5 years hoping so. sigh....

how do you know all this? Because he came from the same place our last HC came from?

Come on, man. You wouldn't hire your best friend?

As said what was purpose of Korny Ferry?

Motherfuck this franchise.

Finally after 7 years start the process of getting the Patriots cancer out of the bloodstream and then here the team goes just taking vials of it and just injecting it in every possible orifice.

Good job. Garbage franchise.

And under the pretense of a "GM search" too with a "consultation team."

Kiss my ******* ass.
:spit:

Where’d you get this info?
He's the pilot.
Why is this happening?????

**** me, no wonder I watch the red zone on Sundays

But thats the thing though he's been with the patriots for almost 20years, what other way are we simple minded folks (thats me honestly) supposed to expect him to be other than the patriots way???

I guess we'll find out once NC announce his HC

McClain said in the Chronicle that McDaniels won’t be the coach. I’m OK with Casserio. I can understand why so many would be POed but I don‘t want to assign guilt by association. By all reports he’s a well respected personnel guy. I’d like to see what he does with the coaching hire before I get upset.

Yea I personally like the hire of just his history and name alone. Issue is if you take look at the totality of the circumstances, if you look at our long history of wanting to be Pats and their history of people not working out outside their organization it ain’t too pretty. I honestly could look past all that but The fact that Jack has his finger prints all over this hire I’m disgusted.

I see where you’re coming from, but in fairness, most of the hires that haven’t worked out are coaches, and when you look at the 2 most recent failures, BOB and Patricia, their biggest problems were their egos. I think their failures had more to do with being micro managing A holes then anything else. On the brighter side Brian Flores is doing good things in Miami and he was a former Patriot.

Given pancakes’ track record, that doesn’t give me the warm and fuzzies.

Something to consider: Patrick Storm at about the 55:45 mark of their live streamed YouTube video (last night) says the report going around that Caserio was not on the list of GM candidates provided to Cal McNair by the search firm is FALSE. Storm says he has had two individuals contact him and say Caserio was on the list and he was recommended by Jed Hughes.

I’m going to remain open minded about this.

But I’m not going to lie, it’s not a good look.
Definitely. Caserio might turn out to be the GOAT of GMs when it's all said and done, and I'm willing to give him a shot because what other choice do we have? It's just the way it all went down. The search committee with Jimmy Johnson and Tony Dungy, what was that all about? Korn Ferry, where reports are saying they didn't have Caserio on their final list of recommendations of about 10 or so.

Caserio is not on the final list of 10!!

I mean, what was the point of all of that smoke and mirrors? Doing all of that gave me hope that they were truly doing their due dilligence, and in the end, it looks and feels like they didn't. They completely ignored Korn Ferry's recommendations, granted they gave us O'Brien, but still.

McDaniels ain't leaving New England

Hear me out on this -

If OB can get 6 years with the Texans trying to find a QB to run his complicated offense then if I was McDaniels I would be thinking he could at least get a decade.

Kraft seems like someone who would fire McDaniels after 3-4 years. There is nothing to be owed to him like Brady or Belicheck.

On a separate note- are the only QBs OB coached that are still playing in the NFL Watson and Fitzpatrick? After coaching a dozen plus you would think there would more.

Well, I'll be....

Once the preseason was done and over with, I was nervous and anxious fearing the worst was upon us. Fast forward to the end of week 6:

Record at 4-2, offensive line is doing a hell of a job, bunch of fire power at WR and TE, running game has been stout, play calling has gotten better. What a pleasant surprise! I had my doubts about the O'Brien-Easterby tandem, but man! This is probably the best offense we've had in a while! O'Brien the GM is looking kinda competent right now. Who would have thought?

Do you guys think Nick Caserio would bring that extra something needed to make us that complete team we have not been able to be? Or, should just continue rollin' with O'Brien as GM/HC?

By the way, I stand by all the things I've said about O'Brien over the years.

I think he is a perfect example of a great GM who needed a team. Nick learned from the master, was part of Pats personal for 3 SB winning teams. He is ready to prove that he learned from Hoodie and that he knows how to get the most out of the draft and FA signings.

Or Cal hired Korn Ferry to actually, and against their own knowledge, eliminate candidates from the field knowing that they recommended OB last time and he's not going to just be his father..

..ok, it's ridiculous but if I'm going to indulge this franchise at all at this point, well, f*ck it.
