Are all ok?

We went out to eat last night for the first time since Ike hit. It was nice to see more lights around, but there are still dark places. Ice in drinks and airconditioning were a nice break.

I really miss our cool front, it is too hot to sleep at night the last two nights. My husband heads out of town today for 4 days, this is going to be a long week.

I was informed this morning that Humble is being pushed back again. Apparently, the damage on the laterals was much worse than they had hoped. It is now set for about 8 days from now. And even they admitted that is a lofty goal. If you are in these areas and don't have power, I feel your pain. Especially if you are in the west side of 59... Deerbrook Estates, Foxwood, Saddle Ridge, Cypresswood, etc. Major damage in those areas. I am hosed.

On a plus note, anyone in the Spring Lakes subdivision that still doesn't have power, I found 4 fuses blown and turned in a trouble ticket. Depending on how busy our 2-man crews are, should be repaired today or tomorrow. Hopefully not any longer. Also, yesterday I went and field checked 27 schools in the Aldine School District. I found minor problems on about 13 or so, so those should be up and running soon. Going out to check Klein today after I get done with my lunch. I think i have about 12 or so to troubleshoot.

Just got back in and here's a quick update....

Klein ISD and Spring ISD are being worked on now... a few of them should be ready soon.

For those who live in Chasewood, just west of 249, you will be powered up here very shortly. The lines crews were just finishing up, only a tree removal remains before we test the circuit. Hopefully, the laterals are good to go, so no one is left in the dark. you can thank our contractors from Virginia for that.... Those guys are awesome.

My only complaint now, other than being without power for another week, is that I am in and out non stop. I would rather be out all day. Or maybe half a day in, half a day out. This go out for an hour or 2 doing trouble shooting and inspecting, coming in and doing computer work and coordinating with foreign crew leaders for an hour or so back and forth all day is ludicrous i say.

Oh, and I can still hear baby Jesus crying after listening to the game on the radio today. :gun:

Don't leave out the folks at Coca-Cola...

My counterparts in Houston absolutely busted butt getting product onto the shelves. I was on multiple conference calls last week getting thousands of cases of bottled water out of our facility to the Houston area. There were Coke employees there the DAY OF the storm still stocking shelves with water.

Hats off to the whole Houston community for stepping up. Makes me proud.

My priorities are so messed up that I freaked out when we were getting low on Diet Cokes. The husband was drinking them all. I would rather run out of water than Diet Coke. Yeah, that is messed up. But we all have our vices.

Live right here at Lake Livingston (not actually on the lake). Pretty good bit of damage here, and I thought I would give a quick shout out to all the people who gave their time and effort to get our lives back to normal. Makes me proud to be an American. My kids had to go back to school today, and they were dreading it.
