Anyone go to the Steelers game?

If you went to the game, please voice you opinion on the atmosphere and stadium in general of Heinz Field. I grew up going to Three Rivers Stadium, a football haven, with my father being a season ticket holder for 30 plus years. I remember the cold playoff games, the deafening sounds of the closed-in stadium, the long lines waiting for a single urinal in the men's room! After the new stadium was built, not only did it loose its' luster with the true ol' timer fans, it also lost some of those fans, due to the cost of PSL's, rising ticket prices, and the suite boxes! Not only did it loose the fans, the stadium was cheapened with the look and appeal of a College stadium, with pig troughs to urinate in and a open-end view to the city and river, that makes it one of the coldest places to play on the earth and the hardest to kick field goals in (Ask Kris Brown!). Were we just swine to the owners. Are they that cheap? I for one am able to compare the three stadiums I am really familiar with (Reliant, Three Rivers, and Heinz), ranking Reliant a close second to Three Rivers, only because of no winning tradition yet! Heinz Field seems to have a college atmosphere, and to many openings, not allowing the fan to be right on top of the field. Did you notice all the drunks on the circle stairwell? Did you notice all the younger fans with no real sense of what it was like to be a Steeler follower their entire lives? I know it was preseason, but believe me, it is mainly like that all year long. I recently talked with my family about the Dallas Preseason game, and they could not believe we sold the joint out, and it had a playoff atmosphere.....FOR A PRESEASON GAME! Although we have the same hurdles for hard working fans, PSL's, rising season ticket cost, and managements need for lsuite boxes, I hope we never loose our enthusiasm and our love for the Texans. I hope Bob McNair and the ciy of Houston never forget about the history we are building and the way us hard working fans support the team! This is the same tradition I would love to pass down to a lil' PittBull puppy someday, as my dad did with me 30 plus years ago! Voice your opinion about Heinz Field or other stadiums you are familiar with! :headbang:

I think you and I have a very different view of a "college atmosphere".

When I think of "college atmosphere" I am thinking of sellout crowds, fans being involved in the game, bands playing fight songs, of an electricity in the air.

Are you thinking of something more like Rice and Houston college games?

I was at the game. I came from Ohio. My girlfriend and I went with my aunt and uncle. Most of the fans were pretty cool to me, but there were a few I had words with. What kind of moron talks **** during a preseason game? But the field was very nice though I was kinda dissapointed in our play. Dunta was getting schooled, but that is good because he will learn from it. Carr looked comfortable in the pocket. Good for him.

I'm sorry, maybe I didn't clarify what I meant. Not the atmosphere being like college, but the stadium itself. Too open. Pittsburgh is extrememly passionate about there team, but they are loosing a ton of the older fans to these games, and the younger, less knowledgable ones with no tradition are now taking their place. To hear from those who were season ticket holders during the super bowl runs, they hate the "corporate" fans, and wish the tickets were economically suitable for the blue-collar fan to attend. Instead, they get the true arm chair Qb, who has NEVER suited up, unless it was a custom Polo suit for a corporate takeover! No offense to those types that go to the games, but go to cheer for the team, not to be seen! It's not a fashion show or a who's who event! :headbang:

Off topic ...
You don't want to get talk started around here about old original stadiums....
After all, Houston boasts the 8th Wonder of the World in the Astrodome.
It holds fond memories to so many who often wonder why it had its demise. And it really makes you wonder WHY when you see other old stadiums around the country... I've been to several .. Cleveland, Chicago, Miami, San Diego, Oakland, Phoenix, Tampa, New Orleans, Pittsburgh and Buffalo, and the Pro Bowl stadium in Hawaii.
Example: San Diego, beautiful city, stadium a dump .. likewise Dallas. Phoenix Cardinals have been using ASU's stadium until they get a stadium of their own. In NY, shared stadiums by Jets/Giants. Why has all this been allowed by the NFL, when the Astrodome was deemed unfit?

But back to topic .... open stadiums vs Reliant types. Reliant was built in the style it is for the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. They are the reason you don't see an open stadium here; something many football fans wanted! Believe it or not, they (Rodeo) are #1 tenants.. the biggest money maker at Reliant, not the Texans..
When February comes around, you'll see LaMar. You'll need to make sure you have your cowboy boots and hat by then .. ;)

I like the new stadium, I'm from the area, and believe me it has far fewer crappy seats than three rivers did. The open end is supposed to be a home field advantage, like G.B. or N.E. I don't know about all that, but I like the skyline view. I too was to Qualcomm, and the Pro Bowl, and Heinz is the best of the three. No tradition yet, but it's gonna come.
