Davey update
Former Patriots quarterback Rohan Davey will work out for the Houston Texans this weekend, according to his agent Joel Segal.

"We're talking to a handful of teams, there are quite a few interested," Segal said.

David Carr, the No. 1 choice of the 2002 draft, is atop the Texans' depth chart at quarterback. Veteran Tony Banks (10th season) and Dave Ragone (3rd year) are the primary backups.

Rohan was a decent QB at LSU, but he wasn't that good. I feel that Banks and Ragone are better than him. A rookie beat him out of a backup job.

Rohan did win an MVP and a NFLE 2 years ago. I think Banks should be cut, Ragone move up to #2 and sign Rohan as a #3 QB.
 
toutail might be right, since Davey was unstoppable in NFLE and hasn't done a thing in NFL action (albeit preseason).

He's got a surreal arm (can throw the ball 75 yards in the air from a kneeling position), is pretty big, and played in a pro-style offense at LSU, but he's had serious accuracy issues. Belichick chalked it up to a lack of reps in practice, but that seems like it'll follow him anywhere he goes so long as he's not the #1 guy.

Didnt Davey play at LSU for Saban? Doesnt Saban now coach at Miami? Isnt Miami playing musical chairs right now at QB? Why isn't Saban trying to sign Davey?

Saban doesn't want him and he was beat out by a rookie that threw 30 passes his entire college career.

Probably an upgrade over Banks though.

Sorry. I have to disagree with you. Most players are less talented than most of the league's stars. But a lot of done well.

That was a really well thought out, productive post. I'm sure you could even back it up with a link showing how "Big Dave" has vetoed all the QBs before they were signed. Why bother right?

THAT'S why we brought in Parsons huh? He's the only guy "Big Dave" cleared. Great job wonger!

Actually, Big Dave was called before they picked Henson in the draft last year. That's what I was referring to. That's my humor.

And Banks didn't make it through pre-season in Dallas a couple of years ago before he was cut. Dallas, where we'd take just about any warm body to play QB right now. Yet Banks couldn't stick.

Huge makes a particularly compelling... and disturbing argument here. I don't think we have a choice people, Banks must go!
 
Banks needs to go. He has a great arm, and when he is on, throws a really nice deep ball, and that's about it. He looks totally clueless at times, fumbles aat the drop of a hat, and isn't much of a leader. Ragone has impressed me this preseason. Granted, he is still inconsistent, but honestly, he has been our best QB this preseason, and it's not even close. He deserves to be the #2. Sign Davey as the #3, which I mentioned in another thread, and I am happy.

Now, if we can just find someone to be the #1..... :brickwall
