Carr is #2 on the list, yet I believe that Palmer is in a better position based on the talent the Bengals have on offense. Palmer will have better stats, yet I believe a lot of their games will be high scoring. Hopefully, Carr will have a better defense behind, but stats won't be too great as long as Capers is around. As long as we win, I will be satisfied with Carr's future performance, and he should have better stats overall than Aikman when he is done.

Winning is FUN-DA-MENTAL!!! (I'm hooked on PHONICS)

GO TEXANS!!! Nice to see the media recognize our QB.

why do hey always say somethin about carr's accuracy? i think he has one of the more accurate arms in the NFL.....or am i really wrong?

He has one of the strongest arms, but I don't think he's one of the most accurate QBs. When I think of accurate, one has to complete nearly 65% of passes, and Carr's high is 62%. He still has a way to go. Trent Green, Mannings, Warner in prime are accurate QBs.

IMO passing completion % only partially reflects the accuracy of the passer. The type of offense plays a large factor as well. WCO's need and get high completion %'s. A vertical offense like we have been attempting to run will almost inherently have a lower completion percentage. That said, Carr does need to work on his accuracy on his long throws. In the last two years there have been quite a few instances where AJ or Bradford has had 1-3 steps on the DB 30+ yds down field and Carr has thrown it 1-3 steps in front of them, i.e. a little too much strong arm. Hopefully experience and comfort with the WR's fix that. And just for those who read every statement as an extreme--I by no means he is an inaccurate passer, just that he still can improve on his long throws.

Carr's stats were in the top 5 of the league in the 1st half of last season with him on pace for 4300 yds passing. Then the wheels fell off the protection bus. Solve that and Capers will happily allow Carr to pick D's apart.

Bull hockey.

They mention the accuracy problems at times because he had 14 interceptions..the majority of which came at times when he was trying to make something happen.

I assume that accuracy is the measurement of completions to non-completions.. if thats the case.. then these are the QBs last season who were less accurate than Carr.

Carson Palmer
TOM BRADY
Byron Leftwich
Steve McNair
Vinny Testaverde
Matt Hasselback
Jake Delhomme
Jake Plummer
Jeff Garcia
Drew Bledsoe
Aaron Brooks
Michael Vick
Joey Harrington
Kyle Boller

and others.

These are the guys that were ABOVE Carr.

Donovan McNabb (by 3%)
Chad Pennington (with 50 fewer completions)
Drew Brees (with 40 fewer completions)
Marc Bulger
Big Ben (with 100 fewer completions)
Peyton Manning (no comment)
Daunte Culpepper
Brian Griese (with 60 fewer completions)

So what conclusion can you reach from this? Nothing really.. except that Accuracy is not a major issue with Carr.

When Carr has protection.. he will put the ball on the numbers 95% of the time. he is a VERY ACCURATE passer when he isnt running for his life. Even when he IS running for his life.. he is well above average.

Last year David Carr was supposed to have a breakthrough year and early on he was doing pretty good but due to the lack of protection his numbers suffered. Carr is very accurate in the short passing game because of D.D. But I remember Carr completing 10 or 11 passes in a row and sometimes he looks unstoppable in the short passing game. Hopefully this year our intermediate passing game will be better and that will lead to David Carr having a better year.

In some games he looks very accuarte but that is because he is completing a lot of dump downs to Davis and quick throws to AJ. He isnt that accurate, but he aint bad.
