With the Cowboys moving to Ft Worth/Arlington in a few years, that area and
Houston will be the states only metros with multiple Major League sports teams. And now with the very strong liklihood that the annual Texas-OU game
might leave the relic they call the Cotton Bowl & the city of Dallas, its looking
more and more like that city is going to continue to have less and less big
time sports attractions. Well they can always get drunk and sit around and watch 1970s reruns of "Dallas" and fantasize about being JR in the good ole days.

The city of Dallas has been ignorant about this for years. They refuse to spend money on stadiums in the city. Even with owners agreeing to pay part of the portions. Think about it... They are losing millions of dollars from failing to build stadiums for the Cowboys and the Rangers in the city limits. Remember when the super bowl came to houston? It produced around $300 million of revenue for the city. Nearly paying for the stadium in one weekend. The city of Dallas will lose the Texas-OU game because they will NEVER build a new stadium. It may go to a city around the Dallas area but the city of Dallas will see none of the proceeds.

I thought about this because at the time of the voting, those against the stadium were posting articles about how the city of Arlington has lost money ever since they built the new baseball stadium.

I don't recall how it was decided to pay for the stadium in Houston. But I would imagine that if the Super Bowl brought in $300 million and that almost paid the bill, have your taxes gone down since then?

With sports teams and corporate entities leaving Dallas for other places,
its no longer amoung premiere cities but heading towards the likes of
Wichita, OK City, etc. for second tier status as FTW-Arlington joins Houston and SA to be a major league player in Texas.

The only public money that's going into Reliant is the 1 or 2 percent hotel and rental car tax. There wasn't a general city, county, sales or utility tax increase in Houston or Harris (like there was in Arlington and Nashville) so the general populace isn't affected directly - unless you rent a car, stay in a hotel, or buy a ticket.
