The Bears just signed Muhammed.. which could mean that they will be more interested in trading down from the #4 spot.

The bears next biggest need is Oline and RB.. both of which should have good players available around #13.

So.. what would it take for us to move up to #4 you think? well according to the "draft pick value chart" the #4 is worth 1800. the #13 is worth 1150. That means there is a difference of 650.

Our second rounder and first 3rd rounder is worth 655. SO.. our first, second, and third would be enough to trade up to #4 (should be anyway)

SO!!.. we could (possibly) trade up and grab Derrick Johnson. But, this would only leave us with a 3rd rounder on day one. When you think about it though.. that aint that bad. We could still get a good DT in the 4th.. or a good Center/Guard. so..

1st: Derrick Johnson
3rd: Center/guard or DT
4th DT or Center/guard
5th-7th whatever doesnt look too risky.. maybe Maurice Clarret if he falls.


Not too bad of an option really. it would give us a playmaker in the front 7 (hopefully) and at the very least, provide us with a bit of depth on the Dline and Oline.

Next year we have Ngata and Williams coming out.. so we could try to grab us a playmaker on the line then.

This will be an interesting year to watch the trades. My bet is this is a year the chart will overvalue moving down because so many teams want to move down.

Like the thought(hate the damned "point system" when trading draft picks though...)...

However, in order for this to work, you gotta do it after Cleveland makes it's pick, to ensure that they do not select DJ first, then we are stuck with #4 with no real player of need to really earn a selection at this position.

If Cleveland does not take DJ though....

#4 - DJ
3rd Rounder - Luis Castillo/C.J. Mosley/Dan Buenning
 
when you say "overvalue moving down" do you mean we may get by trading a second and fourth instead of a second and third? or that we may have to trade our second and both thirds?
 
yah the trade would happen after cleveland made their pick. I doubt Casserly would be interested in moving up at all if DJ wasnt available
 
I dont even think that it would take that much to move up in this years draft. Maybe a 2nd and a 4th, and I think that if DJ passed the 3rd pick then we should wait and let him drop a little further before thinking about trading up.
4)Bears- need more help on offense
5)Bucs- probably pick one of the top 3 rbs
6)Titans- after loosing a WR, CB, and an OL I dont think theyd go after a LB
7)trade here and get him for maybe just an extra 2nd.
 
The Bears hardly need more help on offense. Give Jones a full seasons load last year and he woulda been a 1200 yard back(heck, he was a 1400 total yard back last year AND he missed two games).A-Train is a fine and servicable backup RB. Add MuMu to the WR core with Terrell and you have a decent-to-good 1-2 combo. The thought of the Bears taking DJ is hardly out of the question.

Bucs should take a RB, yes.

Titans have no reason to not take DJ either.A Bulluck-Calmus-DJ core is something pretty nice to (re)build on.
 
DJ is a top 10 pick.. honestly he MAY be the best player in this draft. I wouldnt fool around with it.. the Bears are a good candidate to trade down and if DJ even gets to the #4 pick.. id take him then.

Yes--not specifically refering to the Texans, but while most years it has seemed the team trading up has paid a little more than the chart suggests, my suspician is this year with an urge by lots of teams to move down, we may see less paid to move up than the chart.
 
so? are you saying we dont need any more LBs? cause our play on the field says otherwise. We have been talking about getting playmakers in the front 7.. Derrick Johnson is the only playmaker I see at the moment. Not saying there arent other guys out there who could be.. and Casserly can probably find em.. but as of right now.. DJ is the only guy I know of who has the potential to be a playmaker in the front 7.

After seeing what Ronnie Brown did at the combine.. id be tempted to trade up for him instead :P. That is a franchise back.
 
I was also very impressed with Ronnie Brown...wow what a performance he put on at the combine...I dunno if he's necessarily a need...but he sure is a Big, Fast, and Talented back...
 
thats a interesting and good idea, but one major downside is that we will have to pay top 5 money to our 1st round draft pick for the 3rd year in a row.
 
Top 5 money??? no way in hell i would move up in this draft...Thats one of the reasons and a very important one at that...but the other being that there is soo much talent in this yrs draft at a variety of positions. So if anything...select BPA at 13 or trade down and get an extra pick and still very good talent that fills a need at a lower number.
 
it may not account for all of it.. but trading up also gives you back the money you would have spent on other draft picks. Trading up for Babin freed up the money would would have spent on a player in the 2nd and 3rd.. trading up here would do that again.

And honestly.. we need a playmaker in the front 7 and that doesnt come cheap. the cap is the last thing you worry about in the draft.

The only player of need for us worth Top 5 money is DJ.I agree with the trade down at 13(assuming Thomas Davis is gone). This draft lacks alot of "standout" talent, but is VERY deep in good-to-great projected players.
