Andre Johnson to retire a Texan!

I love this. I was sad to see him go to the Colts and the Titans. Thank you for all of your hard work here Andre.

Ahh things you'll never forget

And why is he's called Cortland Innegan? Because Dre knocked the F out of him... lol

Congrats Dre, you are a all time great, you were a beast on the field, and welcome home.

It's a damn shame we couldn't supply him with better QB play.. in his prime (especially before they snipped his hamstring) that guy was a athlete. He was special.

AJ and Watt, can't say we haven't have a few hall of famers to enjoy during their peak.

I can't believe the Lions took Charles Rogers over Andre Johnson.. Rogers only started 9 games and played in 15.. my friend from Detroit still gives me **** over that.

Atleast we dodged that bullet.

Would of been better if he had just accepted his time was over and retired a Texans player rather than take have to take the NFL walk of shame back for one day retirement special.

How is that a walk of shame? Stupid post.

The average NFL career is a little over 3 years.. Johnny football, Vince Young took the walk of shame.. how many players were good enough to be handed that 1 day contract? That's not a walk of shame, it's a honor.

Being a scrub on teams your heart isn't with isn't a good way to round out a career.

Hakeem on the Raptors? Was that an honor too?

AJ was coming off an 85 catch, 900 yard season. No reason for him to think his time was over.

That's sports, but looking back on it.. do people really think of Hakeem a raptor? Do people remember Johnny Unitas a Charger.. no Hakeem will forever be a Rocket, Johnny a Colt, and Johnson a Texan.

Not every player gets to have the perfect ending..that's sports, but they can come home. Andre is home.

Love Dre, however Colts and Titans......

Your wife leaves you and then sleeps with your bro and dad.....

Let him retire a Texan, but the 80 is still active

Not saying anything, just saying.....

This analogy is pretty rough.

I'd hardly consider our divisional rivals family, and your ex-wife is hardly bound to fraternizational standards when you all but show her the door.

Julia Morales interviewed Andre Johnson a little while ago on Root Sports. He's at the Astros game tonight. Andre was also at the Rockets playoff game last night, as was J.J. Watt. He said he's still a Houstonian and he'll attend as many games as possible now that he has a lot of free time. He's happy for the city that we have three good teams.

Time to retire #80 and save a spot for #99 as well. Neither of those numbers should be worn in our org again.

The TD catch in Arizona when he just flat out trucked over fellas on his way to the end zone, and the OT (or 4th Q, my memory lacks) catch in Washington followed by the emphatic spike! Two of my favorite AJ moments. The Finnegan beat down goes without saying.

Kult of Keenum, away with you!

Anyone else remember the madhouse this place was when Keenum got the start? It felt as vitriolic as the politics board

Messy divorce, but all is forgiven. He walked with hurt feelings and didn't handle it well.

Suppose it could have been handled better on both ends but all's well that end's well.

Gotta be a "good ambassador" job for AJ somewhere in the Texan org.

:coffee:

That's kind of where I'm at. That move to the Colts was tough to stomach (I'm pleased it blew up in his face to be honest) and for me (only speaking for me) this is a pointless empty gesture from the marketing department but like Showtime said good for all involved. It's not my thing and I don't get excited about these contracts for a day but if it makes people happy then sure, why not.

The Arizona TD is my all time favorite Texans moment.
(Second is the JJ pick-6 in 2011, and third is Foster clowning Crocker in the same game)

The way everything went down sickened me and frankly I think less of everyone involved.

Would have been much better if this happened without all the bullshit and without him fizzling out on two bitchmade teams.

But yeah, sure, cool I guess.

Bill O'Brien seemed to think Fitzpatrick and Hoyer were viable options. So that's not saying much.

And that still doesn't have anything to do with how AJ felt. It's his career.

Do we know for certain that O'Brien thought that about them? Or, did the FO give him these scrubs and he made the best of the situation. The Brock debacle makes me wonder who is really pulling the strings on Kirby.

I can equate it to another successful businessman who thinks everything is ran like a business and gets impatient and starts doing things because it's got to be easy right . I mean how hard could it be to find a QB when your a billionaire right . The guy surrounds himself with family and yes men who are going to agree with him so nothing changes . It's good he doesn't tweet .

Rick Smith said Texans plan to recognize Andre Johnson at a game this fall

Andre Johnson 'my career ends here'

Andre Johnson challenges his former teammates to win the championship he didn't during an illustrious career 'It would mean the world to me'

Andre Johnson to his teammates 'I would give anything to go back to battle with you guys. great memories, the good times and the bad times'

Andre Johnson 'Even when I left here and was with the Colts and the Titans, my heart never left this place. It's the nature of the business'

Andre Johnson to his mother 'I love you.' Wipes tears away. 'I didn't think I would be up here crying, you're closing a chapter'

Very well could have been Smith telling OB we're not drafting Carr, Garoppolo, whoever, so who do you like out of these guys type of deal.

That said, I don't believe for a minute that OB doesn't have an impact on getting players to fit his offense, an offense that has been in steady decline since he's arrived. His hands are just as dirty as anyone's.

So I'm not sure any of them have much of a clue about talent evaluation, including a WR coming off an 85 catch, 900 yard season. Yes, as it turns out, AJ had as many catches in Indy as OB said he would, but who's to say he would have had that few had he stayed in Houston with Nate Washington and Cecil Shorts opposite DHop? I don't believe for a minute that AJ would have had a Nate Washington (47/658) type season, so it's probably safe to say AJ didn't feel any differently.

Yep. This is the inherent problem with a boardroom-style front office. The truth is everyone is to blame because there is no chief over there. . . or maybe there are too many chiefs.

I agree with you that OB has an impact. He's part of the boardroom. Personally, my take is his ego believes that he can coach anyone and he's got a Goldilocks syndrome going on in his head about picking a QB in the draft.

It bothers me that I don't feel anything.

I should be happier---or sadder. I'm not sure.

But I don't feel anything.

I don't care at all.

Dude wore a Dolts jersey and worse yet a TinBreds jersey.

That taint wont wash off ....
