An interesting Question?

All I'm hearing is Pendry this and Pendry that. He did coach a good part of the O-line and now he has been promoted to OC. He's talking about the offense being protection driven. Hmm, dare say a lot of us have been saying that for a long time. Wasn't he responsible for a lot of that. Well, really on to the point.

We are hearing an awful lot of how Pendry is a driving force and pulling this team together. Ah, have any of you heard from Capers? Should Pendry be the head coach if he pulls this off. Where does Capers stand in this deal? Did he get the shaft and not even know it? This whole season has been very strange so far................................

Pendry is the flavor of the day and this type of shake up deflects any criticism of the head coach and front office in the short term.

Lets wait until Sunday evening. And no, Pendry is not going to be head coach of the Texans. That is my opinion.

I think Pendry is a sub. teacher until McNair finds a replacement with a proven track record for next year. Typically an O-line coach does not get promoted when an O-line has performed this badly. Pendry is probably the only other coach most familiar with the play book.

I also think the owner has set out to prove that a chimp coud not do any worse than Palmer...

Yes, Vinny we are well aware of that, but the question is in requard to Capers. Looks like he's on an island all by himself..............

Capers will be gone. He is so unemotional, he needs to ride their *** sometimes. a lot of the times this year. Mr. Excuse's needs to go.

All that Capers knows is writing in his littlle notepad. I doubt he has getting in someones face on his agenda. I love it that Pendry is getting in their face when they screw up, 'bout time. Kinda reminds me of Parcels.

This is what I think. Some people are better coordinators than they are position coaches. For instance, Palmer is a better QB coach than an offensive coordinator. Maybe Pendry is a better coordinator than line coach.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the guy that also came from Denver to apply the same blocking scheme. Maybe Palmers plays never fit in with that blocking scheme and maybe Pendry's got the match.

I'm glad Palmer is gone. I'm also getting sick of seeing Capers on the sideline with his mouth open wondering what's going on or doing interviews saying we did't execute and the other team did.

I've posted this comment before, but Caper's calling card was supposed to be an aggressive defense that got to the QB. He hasn't shown any of us that yet in 3 seasons and 2 games, so what value is he.

Some scientist needs to do a study, what better correlates to a tendency to ride a short yellow bus, open mouth breathing or the belief that open mouth breathing is an indication of low intelligence. Inquiring minds want to know.

Seriously folks, how about some real criticism like Capers is running a passive D that doesn't take advantage of the supposed strengths of his players because he has his pass rushing specialists dropping into coverage constantly, therefore leaving a DL designed to hold rather than push alone to get pass pressure until eventually some receiver is coming open. Just a thought.

I'm not saying Capers isn't smart, but there's a difference in being smart and taking 2-years to finish your thesis as a grad-student and being smart and making decisions on the fly. I'm lumping Capers in the Jack Pardee gametime adustment category.

I'm not sure Caper's brand of 3-4 defense works without Greene and Lathon. I sure as hell know Parcells would'nt want any of our LBs on his 3-4.

I just get tired of folks around here latching onto silly things that have no merit once they get down on someone--Capers breathing thru his mouth, Carr being called Dave instead of David--like if either of those things changed the Texans would be playing any better.

I don't think we know what we have at LB. We have never attacked they way say Philly's D does. This drop your pass rushers into coverage thing isn't working so how about trying the opposite and send the kitchen sink?--at least it would be interesting and we would see what we really have for LB's. The moral to the Foley story is we don't get to see what the LB's are capable of because the D playcalling is making them passive. I suspect Parcells would have had Peek in there much sooner and had him playing to his strength instead of backing up three steps and watching the flat every other play.

Yeah! This team would be so much better if Fangio would change that stupid name and do something else with his hair! :tomato:

I think that pretty much sums it up. Some DCs design the defense according to the players they have, and others try to make players do things they aren't best at. You can try to stick a square page into a round hole or you can get a knife and carve out a bigger one that fits the design better.

And it's a lot easier to tweak schemes than it is to draft/sign players and discard them everytime it isn't working out as designed.

I agree with Infantrycak and ledzepplin. We are supposed to have a blitzing defense but all we do is blitz one linebacker and drop the rest into coverage... What ever happened to Capers unleashing hell upon opposing QBs? I was watching the Pitt vs NE game last week, and on one play Pitt blitzed 8 guys! Thats the kind of thing I want to see from our defense. Maybe not 8 blitzers but at least 5-6 on obvious passing downs. IMHO Caper's cupcake defense just isnt cutting it. I think we have the players to have a top 15 maybe top 10 defense, but not with the schemes we're using.
