Practice Squad
Like to see the Texans draft Kevin Kolb?

As a University Of Houston alum (Pardee/Jenkins era)
and a fan of Houston pro football since the Luv-Ya-Blue days
I think I can safely say I've endured both the good and the
bad.

Don't get me wrong, I've been on the David Carr bandwagon
for a while. But to pass up on an opportunity like this is
a mistake.

Watching Ware and Klingler slip through the Oiler fingers
was bad enough. Specially given that the Oilers would eventually
adopt a Run-N-Shoot approach with Moon.

Even if you just put Kevin on the practice squad, and mature him
like the Cowboys did with Romo...

The feeling is made worse by the fact that we let Vince slip
through our fingers. I think that QB's like him come along once
in a generation. Look at what he's done with the Titans, a team
that has less talent than the Texans in my opinion.

Watching Kubiak spread the field with 5-wide formations similar
to the Coogs/Briles offense really makes me wish we had Kolb
in there directing the attack.

The kid is such a good decision maker and has really improved his
touchdown to interception ratio as of late. (Something David still
needs work on).

Even if Gary thinks David is still the answer now, he must certainly
see that Kevin could help us down the road. (ala Bledsoe)

So tell me guys, am I nuts or what?

I'm so tempted to call into the Kubiak show on AM 610 just to
suggest the idea in person. I just can't take another fruitless
draft in which local talent gets overlooked.

And if the odds makers are right, Kevin may even fall into the second
or third round!

The Texans seem to stay away from home town boys. So no, Kolb will not be a Texan IMO. He looks good though.

I like Kolb as a second day project QB, but I would not draft him for the reasons you listed. I would not draft him because I want a Houston boy only.

Hasn't he been in the same system for 7 years or so? That would be the only thing I would be worried about. I have a friend in a couple of his classes at UH, says hes real down to earth and laid back. He said the only thing they told him to bring when he goes to prepare for the draft is a toothbrush.

Kubiak normally carries 2 QBs (possibly 1 on PS), and unless everyone wants to part with the beloved Rosenfels, I doubt it happens.

I would love to see Kolb in a Texans uniform...I can't wait to watch him this Friday. Hopefully the weather won't disrupt the offense.

I like Kolb...and if this were last draft I'd have been all for Kolb in the sixth...

But after thinking about it...I came to the conclusion that'd it be a waste of a pick....

I'd rather pick up someone who actually has a chance of Making the active roster....JMO

I'm UH alum & wish them the best this weekend, but i wouldn't draft him just because he looks good in a spread offense. An offense he's been running since he was a freshman in high school no less; He should make good decisions. I wouldn't mind if they picked him late in the draft & put him on the practice squad though.
