Alot of teams are threatening....

AJ Hawk, D'brick, Mario Williams, etc.,...there are quite a few players available that could make an immediate impact on the team. The no. 1 is nice, especially for leverage if we didn't plan to get Bush, but it's not the be all/end all for our draft.

DB you are right, I think Winston and Mario Williams are both solid picks and I would likely not argue with Hawk other than that is alot of money to spend on a LB that high. That is why there are not a lot of LBs taken in the top 10. They are bountiful like RBs. Yet not as valuable.

I am not to sure about Hawk although he reminds me, right now, of Clay Matthews from the Browns back in the day.

I do think going with an offensive lineman at that point makes all the sense in the world. We can get good skill players in the later rounds. I would like to get a TE,WR, or CB.

Is LB that great of a need? We will have a new DC. We will have Greenwood, maybe Wong, Babin, maybe Peek, Polk, Anderson and Orr all back. Out of all of our Defensive positions I would say that they have shown the most improvement and provide depth for the future.

I'm still not sold on Greenwood but I too don't think getting Hawk at #3 would be a good idea. I say if we fall past #2, we go with our immediate need OL.

You dont have to be sold on Greenwood the guy makes 5 mil a year so he is playing, as is Wong. Peek and Orr will be RFAs. Anderson and Polk not sure if they will be resigned. I think Polk has played himself into a contract or at least some looks from other teams. Anderson I am not sure on, but he could be back for cheap, but it may be easier to replace him with younger talent. LB is not a need for us, but definately something we should address in the draft. It is more important to me to get a LB in the draft than a TE. Neither of which I want in any round before 3. I like Thomas Howard, reminds me of Will Witherspoon, but I think he will go in the second round.

I think we are both saying the same thing here but in different ways so let me just say that I agree with you that getting a LB is low on our need list. I figured if we got the #2 we should trade down and get the OL we need so if we end up lower than #2 I will not be mad if we get an OL with our 1st pick. In fact that's how it needs to be. I am hoping we get #2 though because I believe we can get a veteran playmaker through trade.

Linebacker this season has definately been a need. However, we already have two with big contracts so I doubt we will pick one up before the 4th round. Depending on the combine, Aaron Harris from UT could be an option...

There are a lot of unknowns still, namely combine performance and the possibility of injuries or the texture of the free agent market. Since Reggie Bush is pretty much the only player out there who can be assured of going number one at any cost, it is difficult to predict what we will do should we naturally fall into that 3-7 range, which might still be ahead of our "needs"-based draft but obviously decreasing in trade value.

To say nothing of Casserly's inherent unpredictability.

Although, to his credit (IMO) I am hearing firsthand that he is settled on not acquiring Bush, should the option befall us. But let's not start that argument again.

If we can get bush I say take him. next three picks should be LB, Oline, TE in any order

If we can't get bush then I would go with Dbrick, AJ Hawk, or Ahmad Brooks if he enters the draft. Next two picks would be opposite of round one and a TE.

Also nobody knows how KWong will recover from his injury that could have alot to do with the Texans draft and FA.

well technically we still pick 1st as of now. Then again we have a very good chance of finishing the season 3-0. I know we are 2-12 we can finish 4-12. Jacksonville almost got beat by SF and we are a better team then they are. SF i think has a like a 5% to beat us.

Should be a record breaking game. most fumbles, interceptions or maybe the defense wont intercept the ball they will just throw it back to the offense. missed tackles running backwards. J\k
