Alamo Bowl

That throw was amazing..........right on the money Colt is going to be good at the next level

One more Colt and your alone in the books

The funny thing is, is I heard so much about Snead and how he was supossed to be a great prospect, well Snead sucks and McCoy is the man, Snead can't even hold his jock.

you're watching one game of drew tate here. he's been a huge disappointment his whole career. disappears when it matters most. been questioned as a leader. has size issues too, although i'm far more concerned with his play more than anything. yeah yeah he's doing well against texas i guess, whatever. look what he did against indiana and northwestern this year.

This has been a very good game.

Could anybody really say they expected Texas to do this good this year with a Freshman QB

All the games like this one are going to make Colt a great QB next year.

Damn I really wanted Colt McCoy to be the sole owner of that record.........its a shame he was injured this year, that probably cost him atleast 3 TD passes

Regardless, he had a great season and the future is bright.

Texas wins, but Iowa played a great game and caught alot of tough breaks.

With a strong recruiting class and Smith moving on

The top teams should be

Michigan
Texas
LSU

USC falls and UCLA steps up and takes that state, with a very very good defense...........UCLA is going to be pretty good returning practically their entire team

next year is going to be great

I was not impressed with Snead at all with the time I saw him play, not at all.

He didn't even get a full game and he's a true freshman. How many true freshmen go into college and play well? Even McCoy was a redshirt freshman and had a chance to learn the offense for a year.

Snead doesn't have the mobility, arm strength, or accuracy that McCoy has.

Being red shirted McCoy was basically a rookie granted he had more time to get the system down but Snead is as the say not the "real McCoy" :shades: sorry couldn't resist.

Hopefully next year he does turn out to be a good back up in case McCoy does miss a couple of games like this year.

Why did Mack Brown go for two points? If Iowa would have kicked a field goal to win by one, Mack Brown would have looked like a very bad coach.

actually, snead has a much stronger arm than mccoy. he was also rated as one of the top dual threat QB's coming out of highschool. he may not be as poised or have as much accuracy though.

Snead already transferred to Ole Miss... he wasn't with the team today.

Carr Bomb=One man thread.

A few thoughts:

I thought that this was hell of a win. Iowa came ready to play today.

Just when I give up on Greg Davis, he shows that he's capable of mixing things up. The TD strike to Jamal Charles was awesome. The end-around in the final drive sealed the game.

I think that Akina will probably be named the sole DC this offseason. Considering how bad that Syracuse is this year, I'm hoping that Gregg Robinson comes back to UT this offseason.

Texas needs offensive playmakers and need to beef up the front 7 mainly linebackers. They did under estimate Iowa it seems.

The biggest thing Texas needs is a true running back, they really miss Benson

ya'll have jamaal charles..but your genius of a coach in mack brown doesnt use him

The best thing about today's game was I don't have to see Selvin Young anymore. Now at least next year, Charles should be the main guy in the backfield, like he should have been this year.

In high school maybe.........but in college he doesn't.

Snead had his chance. He had his chance after Vince left......couldn't win out the position, had his chance when McCoy went down and couldn't lock up the position.......Snead moving on to another school is a good move on his part because he isn't getting a shot here.

P.S.

Snead may have a stong arm, but McCoy has just as strong as a arm and what good does it do when you can't hit a reciever in stride, McCoy has much better accuracy. McCoy uses his strong arm to hit receivers in stride and is a much better passer and QB

how did frank okam look today? i only saw a brief part of the game and saw a big tackle for loss by him. will he be in the draft and is he worth the texans drafting assuming we don't take branch?

also, what was the overall concensus on how aaron ross played? saw him get burned once, and then saw him do a great read on the tate where i think he dropped to zone and laid that monster hit on the receiver.

Ross made a couple of big plays and gave up a couple of big plays, but his INT in the endzone probably won the game for Texas.

All in all he didn't help nor hurt his draft stock

Now people, let this be a lesson to you...never drop "horns down" too early, cuz something bad might happen. Like, you know, a bowl loss...hahahaha.

HOOK EM!

Now on to the game...

The Texas run D is still 2nd to none, what a performance stopping Albert Young, who's pretty damn good...

Is Andy Brodell sick or what? That kid is fast as hell...reminds me of a tall Tim Dwight....

What can I say about Colt McCoy? I know alot of people have said once Chiles and Brantley get here, McCoy won't keep his job, but he's showing some signs of a great QB.

Texas has got to use Jamaal Charles more. His speed and elusiveness are very valuable to this team...thank God Selvin Young is gone!

I liked seeing Sergio Kindle out there...running the football and playing D. It will be interesting to see what his role is in 2007.

Ross, the Griffin Bros., and Brown did a heck of a job in half #2 shutting the Hawkeyes down.

I liked OC Greg Davis' playcalling for us. He really mixed it up, tried to run some, but Iowa wasn't having it last night for the most part.

Texas 26, Iowa 21...final...we win!

2007...lets get it!!!

I don't know why this bothers me, but it does. I have no problem with A&M, Tech, or OU doing the "horns down" sign cause we play them every year, and they are our rivals. But when fans from teams like Iowa (who we played twice now) do it, that bothers me. It is like you haven't earned the right to do that sign. Who are you to do that; you don't know us; we have no history; you have to earn that right. :twocents:

I don't have a problem with teams doing the horns down, it means we are a team the opposing fans know is good, don't like, and fear. If we sucked they wouldn't even bother doing the horns down.

Mack Brown has brought Texas back to being a power house, this team is going to be pretty good next year.

After the loss to A&M I thought they were on their way to bouncing back too, but after the straight beating they took, I know the only reason why they won is because McCoy was struggling with injuries. With one of the dirtiest hits I've ever seen and the loss hanging over Texas' head, Texas is going to take them straight to the wood shed next year. They need a better coach who can actually recruit, because right now all they're getting is Texas' cast offs, Mack Brown has this state on lock down and sucks up all the talent.

A&M needs a big name coach like Brown, who can compete with Brown and actually recruit some serious talent there.

I'll go easy and say I question your knowledge of general football.

You have your opinion I have mine

There isn't anything Snead has that McCoy doesn't, there is however one thing that McCoy has that Sneed doesn't however and thats the starting job at Texas.............and there are plenty of reasons for it.

Snead doesn't have the mobility, arm strength, or accuracy that McCoy has.

Like others have said, Snead probably has better arm strength and straight-out speed than McCoy.

However, I do agree that McCoy is the much better QB (at least at this point). McCoy has MUCH better accuracy, poise, and pocket presence.

It still remains to be seen whether or not Snead can develop into a QB w/ the same poise, etc. It's way too early to say that he sucks. Did he perform well this year in limited action? No. But would McCoy have performed very well last year in spot duty if VY had gotten hurt? Probably not.

I will say that I don't like the fact that Snead decided to transfer just b/c McCoy was having a great year and he would have to work very hard to win the starting job. Kind of shows a lack of confidence in your own abilities if you ask me. I don't want a QB like that anyway (I already have one of those on my NFL team...sorry, couldn't resist).

It was also an opinion that the world was flat. That didn't make it a correct opinion but it was an opinion nonetheless.

McCoy does not have better arm strength than Snead and it's not even close. McCoy does does not have better mobility than Snead and it's not even close.

McCoy is the better QB though (as of now) and that might not be close.
