Texans | Saunders to have second interview?
Wed, 11 Jan 2006 09:56:33 -0800

Elizabeth Merrill, of the Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Al Saunders is expected to have a second interview with the Houston Texans about their vacant head coaching position.

From KFFL

interesting, profootballtalk.com reported that kubiak basically had the job wrapped up and the texans were just wainting for the broncos season to be over to finalize everything....maybe not

PFT.com is a fun site with alot of leads and rumors. It's hard to believe what is real ans waht is rumor.

With Edwards coming in to KC, maybe he's looking for an O-Coordinator spot, with a young new coach and a dynamic new qb (Young)

My thoughts except for the VY for QB promo.

I hope we are not in the process of messing with Kubiaks mind...

Not to mention they know each other habits cuz they have played against each other for quite a while. If Kubiak is as good as hired, and we're talking with him (even though we're probably not supposed to), he probably said to go get that guy or said sure, I'll take him as my O-coordinator. We just have to spin it as an interview for HC to keep the NFL off of our trail.

Saunders is contract free.

We might be interviewing him to see if he is interested in becoming a coordinator for us.

possibly... least I hope so :)

Is Jerry Gray's contract up with the Bills? It doesn't seem like it's real often that you get Coordinators that make lateral moves from other pro teams. To get two of that caliber would be a pretty big score.

Jerry Gray's contract is not up.. but he "supposedly" resigned about a week ago.. but now it looks like he hasnt resigned or something..

anyway.. its worth keeping an eye on cause its very possible he will be free to hire as a coordinator this offseason.

Gray is moving. Fingers crossed it is DC with the Texans. And I am with you on your take about Saunders as OC.

Oakland Coaching vacancy Raiders starting with Saunders <Jan. 11>

Chiefs offensive coordinator Al Saunders will be the first candidate to formally interview with the Raiders, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. Saunders, whom the Raiders considered in 2003 before settling on Bill Callahan, is expected to meet with Al Davis later this week.

Saunders, 58, has been the architect of a Kansas City offense that has led the NFL in touchdowns and total yards the past five seasons. He also has Bay Area ties. He got his B.A. from San Jose State and his M.A. from Stanford before serving as an assistant coach at Cal for six seasons (1976-81).

Saunders' main competition appears to be Pat Hill, though the Raiders have yet to schedule an interview with the Fresno State coach.

Please let Pat Hill get the job there.

All that offensive brain trust could get scary and then topped with a Dcoordinator that had the #1 ranked D at one time. I am sure we would get some guys to come play for us.

No doubt. Talk about a coaching Dream Team. Kubiak, Saunders, and Gray.

I wouldnt put it to far out of reach. Lateral moves are indeed rare...however...if there is more money being offered (which I do not think McNair has a problem with), it is a possiblity. It all comes down to cash.

Other than the first game of the season against the Texan's did you pay attention to Jerry Gray's D in Buffalo? I a word, they STUNK on D under his leadership! Don't take my word....check the league rankings.

im not 100% sold on Gray.

However, he has run a good defense for a while now hasnt he? His defense this last season didnt wow anyone..but you cant look at just one season.

I worry though cause he has had quite a bit of talent on that D.. and I dunno how much of his good defense is his doing, and how much is the players.

the offensive coordinator from KC. any truth to the rumor that if kubiak is our head coach, saunders will consider our offensive coordinator spot or will he be more likely to sign as a head coach somewhere?? i would wet myself to see him as our OC.
