AJ on Rome

Tomorrow Rome said he'll have AJ on the air 610am, check him out. Last week I think he had Santana Moss and Steve Smith and they both put up some really good games, hoping the Rome Karma will help Andre go for 250 yds and 2 TDs, because to be honest his numbers are just straight up SILLY.

Wasn't AJ interviewed by somebody (I thought Rome) this off season and he was considered not the greatest of interviews?

Naaahh, AJ is just laid back and soft spoken, that's all.

. . . which is why he's not a great interview. He's not a talker, just a doer. Exact opposite of T.O. It's what I like about him.

Yeah, he's always been a terrible interview - but whatever, he's the best receiver in the NFL. He's not all about himself, which hurts his commercial appeal, and doesn't get him a lot of national run - all the while, what is he concentrating on? Football, football, football.

I love AJ just the way he is. It's hard to believe this guy is a product of Miami U.

people want to know more about AJ & Rome is big on him since interviewing him already, hopefully building more trust thus gaining insight into the soft spoken ascending NFL superstar WR

I said a few words to AJ a few years ago when he was on the Giff/Pastorini show back when it was on. He is really just a quite guy the qb's asked him how a soft spoken guy speaks so loudly on the field. He just said thats what I do and I get excited on the field.

(On what turned Texans around)

The game against the Colts-- you gotta play a full game

(What did that game show you?)

When we looked at the film as a team we pretty much dominated the whole game....it showed us that hey we can go out and do it just gotta do it for a full sixty minutes

(On Sage---did you admire the effort or did you just think, hey you gotta play smart and protect the football?)

You never know what's going through a guy's mind...he was just trying to make a play...no one got down on him...I told him he played a helluva a game and not to hang his head

(On licks taken by Cincy and toughness)

You're gonna get hit, so you might as well go and catch it.

(Are guys headhunting in losses like that?)

Nah, I wouldn't say that, I think they were just out there playing..when we looked at the film we saw a defense that played real hard...we just went out and got the best of em

(On getting taken out by defensive schemes and double teams)

It makes you get deeper into your playbook...I missed training camp so I've been working hard just trying to learn every wr position on field

(On record-breaking numbers)

Im just playing football...after Tennessee game I had two TD drops...looked at myself in mirror and asked what kind of player do I want to be? I'm just out there playing hard and having fun...

(On soul-searching after the 0-3 start)

Yeah I did b/c I was real frustrated...I went and sat by myself and aksed myself that question--what do you want to be?

He did well. I think he must have been working on his interviewing or really was awake for this one. I loved the quote about dropping the balls and having a talk with himself.

He did really well. The quote that you mentioned was my favorite part too. It really speaks a lot to who he is as a player and a person. Someone that can take a step back, re-evaluate themself and then strive to be better. AWESOME!! I hope the 52 other guys with the Texans listened to that.

Yeah because as Rome said..alot of palyers these days would just make excuses or brush it off as "no big deal." He was like, screw that, I have to step up the game.

I friggin missed it, damn you work, if it weren't for the money....I am glad to hear it went well though! Anybody know if they have a download somewhere of the interview?

i don't know if it's the day after or if it'll be later this afternoon but they break it down by hours and by segments on their site and you can click and listen. i missed it too. i'll be checking it out. i love watching interviewers squirm when they interview the quietest most strait forward interview ever!

When I watch the games I don't even realize how many yards AJ is getting...

it's because we've become accustomed to 20+ yard plays. Schaub is tied for 11th in the NFL with 20, 20+ yard plays. we think of them as "First Downs!" but 10, 11 catches like that and uh... well, it ads up.

It's on there now, on the right side.....

41 first downs from his 56 catches. He's got 8 more 1st down receptions than the next closest wide out (TJ Houshyourmama w/ 33)!!

The only thing AJ needs is some more TD's. He's only got 2. Hopefully they will come a lot more than they have been.
