I knew this was coming lol. At this point, every option has to be considered.Would you consider a move for him next year?
That's what happens when you have Hoyer as your starter. So pretty much any QB who looks decent will be considered.
Would you consider a move for him next year?
With Dalton locked up and no real significant injury history if I'm Cincy and I see a chance to turn my backup QB into a 2nd or 3rd round pick I jump on that every day and twice on draft day.Cincinnati has him for two more years on the cheap. No reason at all for them to get rid of him for next season.

Besides, we don't need no stinkin QB.
The Bengals are loaded on offense with skill players and yet McCarron has been nothing more than a low level game manager up to this point. That's not to say he can't improve, but this thread seems like a knee-jerk reaction to a very average QB.
You see the way playoff spots and division titles have come down to backup QB's matched against one another week after week due to injuries and you'd think it wise to send away what looks to be a completely game ready QB who has become comfortable in your system that you have dirt cheap for a roll of the dice on a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick?
Ok, I guess.
This is one silly thread.
Only a Trump supporter would be moronic enough to actually think that they are NOT grooming McCarron to be their eventual starter.

AJ is getting his shot & they're hoping he'll make it a difficult decision when Dalton gets healthy.
Special can be used to describe such a variety of people in greatly disparate circumstances, I'm not sure what you're getting at.Didn't they just pay Dalton?
I think they took a flyer on AJ, for a situation just like this. Dalton has proven to be good, this year his numbers look really good. But the word special has never come to mind when describing him.

While he hasn't had any major fubars, he hasn't really looked "special" either. Just more of the same. Good, not great.
I think they'll switch back to Dalton & not think twice. AJ will just have to keep doing what he's doing & hope for an opportunity to compete for a starting gig on his next contract.
Would have been nice for some of that talent to step up there in the 4th..... heck, even in OT, the way OD, Anderson, & Demarius Thomas did for the Broncos.
Who made plays in the second half other than McCarron?
I agree with you. Doesn't make sense to trade for him & these threads are getting down right pathetic. But Game manager?
Game manager?
Those guys made plays because Osweiler was able to get them the ball.
McCarron couldn't get the ball out. He had plenty of time to throw and took multiple sacks and was forced to throw the ball away multiple times. He had Sanu and Kroft open multiple times and wasn't able to get the ball to them.
I'm not shouldering him with the loss. This is what he's always been and what he's likely to be unless he improves (which he could).
He leans on a strong defense and running game, just like in college. Put the game in his hands and he's not the guy who can go win it for you.
The Bengals got the lead by running the ball, controlling the clock, and keeping Denver's offense off the field. In the second half they only ran the ball 12 times. Denver also switched from zone to man and started blitzing aggressively. McCarron couldn't make them pay.
They scored their only TDs on the back of the running game. When they went away from that and tried to lean on the QB the offense sputtered.
Well, for someone to say that you weren't shouldering him with the loss, you sure took great pains to show that you were with this "put the game in his hands and he's not the guy who can go win it for you" nonsense.
If this is the label you want to give him, then why in the hell would want to give up draft picks to get him?
What exactly has McCarron done to warrant such consideration?
Admittedly, I don't hate what he's done so far. But he hasn't been anything close to spectacular.
Osweiler was clearly the better QB on the field tonight. The Bengals stayed in the game with solid defense and by controlling the clock with the running game.

I think we need a " we should trade for any QB who completed an NFL pass this year not named Hoyer" thread
We saw different games then.
Aj was slinging it & neither of his running backs were doing squat. That big run by Anderson for Denver's first TD... that's the kind of stuff I'm talking about, the Bengals didn't get that from their run game.
Remember that play where Aj Green stopped running halfway through his route & Aj put it on the money in the end zone. Had Green not stopped, that gives the Bengals the lead again.
& it's interesting that you see something in Osweiler, when he's in the same situation. McCarron's a game manager, Osweiler is a stud.
Demaryius Thomas catches a 10 yard pass, bounces off 7 defenders... did he score on that one? I think he did.
Don't get me wrong, we agree on the main topic of discussion here; trading for McCarron doesn't make sense for us. But that was the #1 defense in the NFL he played against & his team didn't help. Not the way the Broncos helped Osweiler.
Some pretty good plays being made in only his 2nd game in a playoff game atmosphere. I like what I saw of him. He throws a pretty nice deep ball when he needs to, and made some big throws on 3rd down. He hasn't worked with first team guys all year round to have the chemistry either. And to be fair he was playing the Broncos who have the best D in the NFL. What QB has worked them over all season really?
I think he should be looked at. Mainly due to the what is out there is pretty thin. I don't like the prospects in the draft, and the best guy out there to me is Garropollo from the Patriots. I think McCarron may have some potential possibly though.
Heard on the radio McCarron won some sort of grievance against the Bengals and is now a free agent.
McCarron will be paid beaucoup dollars by someone this season. The Texans are not going to be a player.Like I mentioned in my initial post, I don't hate what McCarron has done so far. I just don't think he's done anything at all to justify even the thought of trading something for him. I acknowledge that he could improve as he gets more reps. All I'm saying is that this idea being thrown out there already is premature.
This article demonstrates how some team head physicians/teams have some very questionable player medical evaluation methods. In this case, the team physician admitted that no medical examination was performed prior to McCarron being deemed appropriate for the NFI designation. It's amazing that there was no adverse action taken against the team and their physician, other than McCarron being able to enter UFA.They listed him as a non-football injury his rookie year and weren't counting it to become UFA. He won that he was improperly listed and so is UFA.
