Aggy vs Bama

I knew Sumlin would be a good hire. But, I had no idea he would be able to right the ship in Aggieland so quickly. I thought A&M would be in over their head in the SEC. They're not.

Everett intercepted it and threw it back to Manziel on a trick play who took it 74 yards to the house. And then by miraculous chance Bertolet made the field goal. :kitten:

Did you see the accuracy of AJ McCarron throwing that Heisman trophy right to the Aggie .

Imagine had they stayed in the Big12

I'm so glad they didn't. It was time Texas A&M stepped out of the shadow of UT, this win will help recruiting tremendously next year, and allow A&M to compete year in, and year out in the SEC. Thanks UT for the Longhorn Network, without that decision, we'd still be your ugly sibling :)

You're still ugly. ;) j/k Congrats on the win. I was rooting for you all.

Agreed. Even though there are some hurt feelings and pride, in the long run, this really is best for both schools. It's entirely possible that in the future, the two top schools in texas meet for the NC.

What a game. This season has helped heal the pain of years past. The future is bright in Aggieland!

There's been a new word added to the English language: "Heismanziel".

Gig 'em Aggies!!!

Question for any bowl experts here... what would it take for the Longhorns to meet the Aggies in a bowl game?

Also, if Texas beats KSU, they might get an at-large bid against A&M in the Fiesta.

How would A&M get an at large over LSU? Or how would Texas get one over OU? (assuming they all win out)

I don't see this going any other way than A&M and UT meeting for the first time ever in a bowl game, and it will be at the Cotton Bowl.

Edit: Why the hell is the title "aggy"? This isn't the Hornfans forum.

It impresses me that this college system makes enough sense to someone to be able to make a post such as this with confidence

It would take the Fiesta wanting to showcase A&M and Texas and picking them instead of the "next best" team. Once the guaranteed spots are taken, the BCS game committees are free to select any team in the top 14 of the BCS.

I could see A&M making a BCS bowl in that case, but unless Texas pulls off an upset in Manhattan, I don't see them getting a BCS bowl. They are 15 in the computers now, and a win over TCU likely won't move them up much. I think they will be just outside the top 14 and ineligible for the BCS, in which case they end up in the Cotton Bowl.

The question will then be which two teams from the SEC go to BCS bowl games? I think the answer will be the SEC champion (likely Bama) and one of Georgia, LSU, Florida or South Carolina. Several of those teams have their final game against a ranked opponent or will be in the CCG, which will keep them ahead of A&M who only has lowly SHSU and Mizzou to play. We would need quite a miracle of upsets and losses to push us into an at large bid at this point.

I think A&M is going to the Cotton Bowl regardless, but they may end up playing OU if they don't get an at large bid. I think the strongest possibility at this point is A&M/UT in the Cotton Bowl, and it will be quite an interesting game with more national appeal than I can ever remember before.

Well, the Capital one has been on record they like having different teams and SC, Bama, LSU, Georgia and FL have been the teams in teh last 5 years, so it's possible they pick A&M even if one of those schools have the same or slightly better record.
