We got over last year's draft.
The only thing that would displease me (and yes, I would get over it) is using #1 to draft a QB (Vince or otherwise) after signing Carr's deal.
The team has my unconditional support. The draft of one player won't make my love for the team waver in any way.

I'll accept whomever the Texans select in this draft. I may question a pick or picks made by this team, but I'll always support them and hope for the best. One of the things that get lost in all this Vince/Reggie hoopla is that the Texans have several picks in this years draft. Quite a few in the first day, and with a draft this deep the Texans are bound to pickup some high quality players in later rounds. It's important to keep things in perspective.
Those that put their loyalty solely on the shoulders of a particular player are not Texans fans, and they'll bolt soon after the draft if their player is not picked. The good news is that soon we will be rid of many of those types of posters, and our little message board will slowly return to normal. Can't wait.

i'll throw popcorn at the TV if they dont do exactly what i hope, but they'd be pretty hard pressed to do wrong by me this weekend. nomatter what though, i'll be at the first game to support kubiak & our new texans. i've got season tix & didnt go to a single game last season. i'll do it atleast one better this year, but if it looks like we're in for a repeat of last season, i'll be at home, watching every game & hoping for the best from my sofa.
like vinny said, you cant turn on & turn off being a fan of a team. if we're still here after missing derrick "no possible way he falls to us" johnson (and then trading him away), we're not going anywhere. i'll be here watching & rooting, win or lose, bad draft or not. we may not like the outcome, but the real fans arent going anywhere. yall couldnt get me off of this site with lendale white & a crowbar. =p
84 ... if taylor was there, we would've drafted him, and had he not gone to the crime capitol of the states, he might be a solid player. we all knew our board read taylor, hall, robinson. all have been studs.

I am a TEXANS fan. Whoever they chose I will cheer for, though it may evoke some sort of questioning of the FO if it is a whack pick, but they are my team, warts and all.

Our drafts have been full of disappointments since the beginning:
2002 - We pass on Clinton Portis in the 2nd. This would have paled in comparison to the Babin and Buchanon gambles.
2003 - Thought we should have traded down and addressed the OT positions and go Gross. AJ is fine, but we will never see his potential until all the other factors are in place. Trading down and then reaching for Joppru was a classic, that had me questioning Casslery at that point. Seth Wand and Ragone in the 3rd rounds???? Reaches.
2004 - Using our 2rd round pick on Hollings was almost as bad as our Boselli mistake. We passed on Wilfork and then traded the farm for Babin. I still like Babin, but geez, we could have done without him considering there was so much good talent in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. We really missed the boat here and had me confused for a while.
2005 - Draft TJ when DJ slid all the way down to us and we had never drafted a ILB made "0"sense. TJ wasn't even the best 3-4 DL in the draft. The Buchanon trade can be inserted here as another disappointment. Everyone in the world knew he was a bad seed, our drafting experts saw few film and even less in character.
So yes, in every draft we've experience great disappointment. In this draft I expect more of the same, especially if don't go after D'Brick if a good deal comes along. If we draft Young I will go insane. AND NO MORE DRAFT DAY TRADES ALREADY!

Yes, it is probably a lock. That doesn't make it any better though. I'm sick of watching "The Riverboat Gambler" at work. I want to see a nice, conservative draft where we make the obvious picks for a change.
I'm not holding my breath though. It'll be more of the same. The better our draft position is the more I worry that the team will do something monumentally stupid with it.

The only picks people complained about at the time were Babin and TJ. The jury is still out on TJ.
And I wish people wouldn't lump Joppru into the "dumb draft day picks" category. He got hurt, there's no way anyone could have predicted that. Who knows how good or bad he could have been.

You must have not been around these boards then, because there was PLENTY of criticism for that. I heard many times how Portis was slipping and how it would be great if we picked him up.swisher said:
As far as Joppru goes, the injury has nothing to do with his selection, he was still a reach. I wouldn't of had a problem if we would have selected deeper in the draft. There were at least 2 good TE's left with our pick in the 3rd.

I'll accept it knowin that they know a lil' more about drafting NFL talent than I do. If I knew as much as they did, I wouldnt have to answer this so while initially mad at 1st, I'd learn to live with it as long as it produced more wins than las' season

Man, at this point I think I will just be relieved that the draft is over.
Many of these preseason debates will rage until the season kicks off, and a few will rage for years, but at least we can all stop trying to convince each other who will be drafted, and when...
That being said, I will be happy in almost any case, until we see how our draft picks perform in the league, and then it could go either way depending on how they pan out.

Looks like we are going to get Bush.
a small RB when we have a good core of Running Backs and a Kick Returner when we have an All Pro Kick Returner.
I'll accept Bush, but I am ticked. Brick would have been nice considering our O-line is the worst in the league and old. Once again, Carr sacked over 50 times and some will boo thinking it is his fault.

I'm hoping Babin will be better at DE. Maybe he won't have to think as much and just go get the QB.
