AFC South Standings!

Always injured and in various types of troubles.
Doubtful he'll ever played in the NFL again.

The Colts' defense isn't a world-beater by any means. they're near last in pts allowed and near the bottom in most other catagories. If this dude is healthy there must be something else wrong here.
Link

Edit:
I wonder if they even gave the dude a ticket back from London.
LoL

I just read about his coverage deficiencies. Too bad, because he's very athletic and can be involved in every play if he wants to. He had a terrific week 1.

Wait... so you don't consider the Chiefs that beat us 30-0 last year or the Pats that have won more than anybody in their house a REAL test?

wow

What patriots game... I saw a beatdown, not a game ? ;)

Ok. Let's hope the Texans win. Now if they do, their record will be 4-1

For the rest of the AFC South. The Jaguars are on Bye this week so their record won't change.
As for Indianapolis and Tennessee, The both play in winnable games.
The Colts are playing at home against the Bears and the Titans are playing on the road against the Dolphins.
Of those 2 games, Tennessee being in Miami just might be a loss for them.
The Bears are just bad.
As bad as the Colts are, they are still better then the Bears and they are playing in Indianapolis.

So should the Texans win, This is how the division could look after week 5.
Texans 4-1
Colts 2-3
Jaguars 1-3
Titans 1-4

Should the Texans win, they will still be at least 2 games up on every other team in the AFC South division.

Let's hope for a good showing in Minnesota and a Texans win to stay well on top of the AFC South.

I live 15 minutes north of Miami's stadium and the game will probably be played. The trajectory of Matthew is making it head north-northwest affecting Daytona/Jacksonville more so than Miami/Ft. Lauderdale. As long as there are no late minute shifts of this storm Miami and surrounding areas seems to be pretty normal. Praying it stays that way as I am riding out the storm waiting for my flight to Minnesota midday Saturday.

It makes you realize that coaching was probably not the primary problem when Kubiak and Wade were here. They seem to be doing great with a front office that knows how to consistently evaluate talent and build a roster. Maybe that was too much responsibility for them when they were in Houston. Now they just have to concern themselves with coaching.

Not to mention that the Broncos tried desperately to match the Texans offer but Brock's agent was no longer taking their calls.

Kubiak is the guy that brought our GM here. Kubiak had a huge say so in who we drafted and brought from other teams especially all of those ex Denver players we had at first. Elway was winning just fine with Fox, but didn't like Fox having ideas that differed from Elway's ideas. Elway likes control and will step in for any reason necessary to him. I've said for years that Elway had become the best GM in the NFL way before Kubiak arrived over there, and I hate giving Elway props. I do think that Denver is a much better place for Kubiak to coach with Elway as a "real boss" to him that will tell him what to do and how to run that team unlike anything that Rick Smith was capable of. I also believe that Smith is a better GM along with OB where he can act more as his boss than he likely ever could with Kubiak since Kubiak got him where he is today.

It was Gary's 1st rodeo as a head coach & he had stipulations placed on him (try to fix Carr). I think more than anything it shows that he may have learned from his mistakes here. The same goes for Wade in a sense as well. Coaches around the league more or less knew what was coming when they matched up against him & his blitz-happy playcalling. His scheme would always get exposed b/c he just didn't adjust or tweek.......up until last year that is. I remember Ted Johnson talked about this all throughout the latter part of the season & playoffs.

I'm sure Elway dealing with all the other stuff & them having a definitive power structure (unlike here) in place helps too, but i don't think you can understate the learning aspect of it either.

Ok. After today, the division looks like this:

Texans 3-2
Colts 2-3
Titans 2-3
Jaguars 1-3

The Texans made no ground up against the division, however, both the Colts and Titans did by making it a 1 game division in winning their games.
Next week, the Texans play the Colts here at home, the Browns travel to Tennessee to play the Titans and the Jaguars travel to Chicago to play the Bears.
The Texans should beat the Colts, The Titans will beat the Browns and the Jaguars will beat the Bears.
After 6 games, the division should look like this.

Texans 4-2
Titans 3-3
Jaguars 2-3
Colts 2-4

The Texans lead will still be diminished to only 1 game over the Titans and 2 games over the Colts and Jaguars.
It's getting tighter.

I think the Titans will beat the Browns. & with our defense looking like a bad episode of Mash I wouldn't be surprised if the Colts beat us at home.

Indy 3-3
Texans 3-3
Titans 3-3
JagUars 2-3

The Titans will still have three games coming against teams they should beat.

We'll still have the Broncos & Lions we could be 4-4 at our bye, the Titans could be 5-3

Next week's game against the Colts is on Sunday Night Football. You know, no other game on and the whole league is watching games. You know how well we do in those spotlight games.
I'm with TK. After next Sunday there will be a logjam at the top of the AFC South.

I don't disagree with you, but the narrative about Kubiak is now framed by the simple fact that he's won rings at three different levels of coaching. QB coach in SF, OC in Denver, and now HC in Denver. He's obviously a good enough coach to win a championship when he's got a good FO taking that burden off of him. I think he was expected to do too much in Houston and it eventually affected his health.

With the win over the Colts, The Texans stand all alone on top of the AFC South division by 1 game over the Titans.
The Jaguars and Titans both came away with a win today as well.
The division looks like this now:

Texans 4-2
Titans 3-3
Jaguars 2-3
Colts 2-4

Next week, the Texans play the Broncos on Monday night football, The Colts travel to Nashville to take on the Titans and the Jaguars will play at home against the Raiders.
The Texans certainly are not favored to win in Denver, but, should they manage to pull out the victory against a reeling Denver team coming off 2 bad losses, it could go this way.
Texans beat Denver in a close match up. The Colts go to Nashville and hand the Titans a serious butt whoopin. The Raiders go to Jacksonville and tear up the Jaguars.
This is what the AFC South could look like at the end of next week.

Texans 5-2
Colts 3-4
Titans 3-4
Jaguars 2-4

Let's hope the Texans stand alone 2 games up on the Division after next week.

one thing to keep in mind... we're not very good yet. We're going to play Denver next week & quite frankly I don't think we'll win. I hope we do win, it'll really set.us apart in the division, I just don't think we will.

But the Broncos already beat the Colts. Unless the Broncos have a rash of injuries, I don't think Tennessee or Jacksonville beat Denver.

Same thing with Minnesota. The Colts may beat them, but I doubt the Jags will. Titans already lost to them. & the Colts already lost to the Lions.

Doesn't mean a lot, but The Colts, Jags, & us have all beat Chicago already.

One game AND a tie breaker over the Titans.

I know I give you crap often Jam but thanks for brining some positive thoughts. At times it's a bit much but it's definitely needed around here. Thanks for being a good sport.

One thing I want to mention about being "the tallest midget."

I have no problem with that. Green Bay, New England, Denver... they've been the tallest midgets in their divisions for a long time. Yeah, every now & then the Jets will have a winning season. Every now & then the Bears would get into the play offs...

But other than that, one strong team usually comes out of those divisions.

Hey, the Colts used to be the tallest midget in this division.
It's our turn. Let's hope they make the best of it.

The Colts also got stomped the Patriots. Andrew Luck never beat them. Hopefully we'll win the division more regularly & we can play the Patriots every year instead of trying to beat them every four years.

Not only that, but Luck got completely ran out of the building every time he played the Patriots. It was like watching pigs get slaughtered in every match up. The Patriots just smoked them as well.

The Colts are about to play the Titans on CBS. So what do we need? Do we cheer for the Colts to beat the Titans? That would leave both teams at 3-4.

And then when the Raiders beat the Jaguars, that game is also starting right now, they'll be 2-4. That would give us a two-game lead over all three teams in the loss column pending tomorrow night's game.

So I guess, go Colts and Raiders right now...

Unless you're really tired of this "weakest division in the league" talk. Then you want Titans & Jags to win.

Nice. Andrew Luck to T.Y. Hilton for the 39-yard Touchdown. It's 14-6 Colts over the Titans with 10:16 left in the second quarter. Also the Raiders lead 6-3 over the Jaguars early in the second quarter.

I want to win the AFC South as easily as possible this year. We don't have J.J. Watt so we can use a few breaks along the way. We're 2-0 in the division as well with 4 games left. I want to own the tiebreaker so any other team would have to finish 1 full game ahead of us. If we tie we will still clinch the AFC South.

The Colts just recovered an onside kick. Titans fell asleep on special teams. I can't stand the Tennessee Titans. Seeing Andre Johnson and DeMarco Murray wearing a Titans jersey is sickening to me. Why did Andre have to do us dirty like that? First he signs with the Colts and then the Titans. What's next Andre Johnson? Will you sign with the Jaguars next year?

Colts are clinging to a 17-13 lead with 9:50 left in the third quarter. Marcus Mariota is making a lot of awful throws in this game and missing wide open guys. The Titans would likely have the lead if he were an accurate passer.

The Raiders have a 20-9 lead over the Jaguars with 7:50 left in the third quarter. So good news so far for the Texans in the AFC South Standings.

Let's hope both scores can hold up...

The Colts are pathetic! Blowing another lead in the fourth quarter. Titans lead 23-20 with 6 minutes left. Can Andrew Luck stop sucking and lead a big TD drive to regain the lead?

What a statement drive by the Colts!
Andrew Luck 7-yard TD pass to Jack Doyle.

The Colts lead 27-23 with 1:55 left in the game.

The Colts overcame three costly offensive penalties...
I thought they were going to blow it again.

Pretty good clock milker as well.
The Titans only have one timeout left...

Fumble! Mariota sucks. HAHA
The Colts defense takes it in for the Touchdown!

34-23 Colts now with 1:47 left.
Yes sir. The Colts and Titans are both 3-4.

The Tennessee crowd is booing. I love it!!!!

If the Texans win tomorrow we're running away with the AFC South at 5-2. Even if we lose we're still all alone in first place at 4-3 while owning the tiebreaker with the Colts and Titans. We're in no danger of losing first place anytime soon.

Also the Raiders lead 26-16 over the Jaguars with 3 minutes left. The Jaguars are bad and will be 2-4. We still play them twice! And we also play the Raiders in Mexico City if I'm not mistaken. Another game I think we'll win.

That would be so sweet! We sure wish it was going to happen.

Even if we lose at Denver we're still in the driver's seat for the AFC South. I'm not too worried. I hope we win and don't play afraid like we did against the Patriots and Vikings on the road. We have nothing to lose so I hope we come out and make some big plays in all three phases of the game. Let's surprise people around the country. All the so-called experts are predicting the Broncos to win in a blowout.

I would hate to drop to 0-3 on the road but I don't see the Colts, Titans or Jaguars finishing any better than 7-9. I predicted the Texans to go 11-5 this season. We may only need to win 8 or 9 games to clinch the 2016 AFC South division title.

why did this turn in

So if we suck it's ok as long as other teams suck worse?

We don't have our best player. I consider it house money if we win the division without J.J. Watt. I've seen every Texans game since the Hall of Fame game in 2002 against the Giants. I no longer have big expectations. Too much heartbreak when you invest all your emotions into them. I'm taking a new stress-free approach into tonight's game. And maybe we'll win when I don't care as much.

I'm going to do the same with the Houston Rockets and Houston Astros from now on. The once #6 ranked Houston Cougars have taught me to refocus my priorities with their recent losses at SMU and at Navy, two teams they were heavily favored to beat.

I don't like feeling as bad as I do following losses...
I should anticipate them and if we win then great.

I don't know. Part of being a fanatic is this goofy emotional rollercoaster.

Granted, there is a line.

This season, this offense has played as expected through the first six games. I expect to see steady improvement from here on out. If Osweiler throws for 300 yards & 3 TDs & 0 INTs, I won't take that to mean he is a great QB. I'll take that to mean he has to do it again, & again, & again.

Lamar Miller had a great game last Sunday. He & the OL needs to do it again... etc, etc...

Defensively we need to find a way to limit teams to 15 points at most. Not just to give our offense a chance, but there's a lot of talent on that side of the ball, they need to start acting like it. We haven't faced any elite offenses this year & we've allowed 20+ points to everyone but Chicago & KC. That's got to change.

If the Texans win tonight, they will be all alone atop the AFC South by 2 games.
That's not all.
The Texans will also be tied as only 2 teams in the AFC would be 5-2. That other team is the Raiders.
The only team with a better record would be the Patriots at 6-1
As far as the playoffs would be concerned, the Texans would then be the #2 seed.
The reason? Oakland is 1-1 in their division and the Texans are 2-0. That gives the Texans the tie breaker.
Let's hope for an all important win tonight against the Broncos!

GO TEXANS!

After a really bad Monday night showing, the Texans are still top in the AFC South by 1 game over the Colts and Titans.
This is what the division looks like after week 7.

Texans 4-3
Colts 3-4
Titans 3-4
Jaguars 2-4

In week 8, The Jaguars will take on the Titans in Tennessee, The Texans will take on the Lions at home and the Colts will take on the Chiefs at home.
The Titans should beat the Jaguars since they will be playing at home, the Colts should take another hard loss to the Chiefs and the Texans will hopefully show up and play against the Lions and win.
Should these things happen, this is how the division could look after week 8.

Texans 5-3
Titans 4-4
Colts 3-5
Jaguars 2-5

The Texans could be holding on to a very tenuous 1 game lead over the Titans going into their bye week.
Let's hope the Texans can go into the bye on a good note with a win and get rested up for the Jaguars in Jacksonville when they return from the bye.

JamTex, I expect the Jaguars to beat the Titans tonight. That would place the Jaguars at 3-4 and the Titans at 3-5. And hopefully the Chiefs beat the Colts and we beat the Lions.

The AFC South standings may look like this after Sunday...

Texans 5-3
Jaguars 3-4
Colts 3-5
Titans 3-5

The Jaguars will be our biggest challenge within the division this season. They've already beaten the Colts and they'll beat the Titans tonight. We've already beaten the Colts and Titans as well. And we still play the Jaguars twice. Those will be huge games!

What makes you think the Jags will beat the Titans? Their better defense? Their better running game? Their better QB? Which of the above does Jags have?

I have Allen Robinson on my fantasy team and I expect him to have a monster game tonight. The 23-year-old kid is a special talent. He had 1400 receiving yards and 14 TDs last year. I remember when he flourished at Penn State playing for Bill O'Brien.

Allen Robinson has been off to a slow start this year a lot like DeAndre Hopkins. I expect both of them to produce elite numbers again very soon. They are two of the better wide receivers in the game. Better quarterback play would certainly help both guys.

I have on the NFL Network right now and watching the pregame show. I'm going to enjoy the game tonight and cheer on the Jaguars. If the Jaguars win tonight they will also be 2-0 against AFC South opponents just like the Texans.

At Tennessee. But the Jaguars are 1-1 on the road and 1-3 at home this season. So it may be better that they are on the road tonight.

I also don't like the way the Tennessee Titans players, specifically DeMarco Murray, are talking a lot of smack. Saying that they should be 7-0 and the AFC South is theirs to take this season. Blah, blah, blah. You are what your record says you are, Mr. Murray!

As far as what the Jaguars have? A lot of talented guys struggling on both sides of the ball. This was a team picked my many to be much improved entering the season. I would still take them over the crappy "all hype and talking trash" Titans.

If the Jaguars win tonight they are very much in the AFC South mix like many people expected entering this season. And I would love to hear DeMarco Murray say that the Titans should be 8-0 after tonight when they'll be 3-5. LOL

So it's not so much you like the Jags, it's you hate the Tits?

Mostly correct. I hate the Titans and Colts with a lot of bad blood taking over my emotions. I can't stand either organization. The Jaguars are the only AFC South division rival that I have a lot of respect for.

But I also like Allen Robinson. He's on my fantasy team and Bill O'Brien is always speaking highly of him because he coached him for two years at Penn State.

Most importantly, a Jaguars win over the Titans tonight is also beneficial for the Texans in the 2016 AFC South standings. Assuming we can beat the Jaguars twice this season. That won't be an easy task without J.J. Watt. As he's always been a huge part of our past wins against the Jaguars.

We'll see. It's Thursday Night Football. I'm going to have fun and watch the game on the NFL Network. There is nothing else good on TV to watch tonight.

They definitely need some help in the running game. The Jaguars rank 30th in the NFL (3rd worst) in rushing yards per game. That is what is hurting them.

They have dangerous and big playmakers at wide receiver. Blake Bortles has 9 TDs and 9 INTs on the season and only completing 57 % of his passes. He's been struggling to hit his targets. No running game hasn't helped.

But the Jaguars have played better on the road than at home this season. They are undefeated in the division. You never know. Why can't they win tonight?

I understand those people picking the Titans tonight. They do have an excellent running game in DeMarco Murray and a solid defense. If they can take the lead and dominate the time of possession then that will be tough for the Jaguars to overcome if they aren't forcing turnovers.

In terms of overall defensive rankings (total yards allowed per game), the Jaguars are 9th and the Titans are 10th. Both are top 10 ranked defenses. The Texans are right in front of both at 8.

If the Jaguars offense can find anything resembling a running game tonight that would help, but I still think their passing game can take some shots deep and make some big plays against the Titans secondary.

I just feel when it comes to a division rivalry, especially a bad division like the AFC South, the stats don't really matter as much. It's all about making big plays and winning the game. Like the Texans have done against the Colts and Titans. Like the Jaguars have done against the Colts.
