AFC South Standings!

Whenever I'm sad and depressed. I'll watch this video and everything will be ok

So you think the Patriots GM and Belichick is an idiot. Plus every team financial stability is different. Unless you think every team would have cut a lot of players to sign Luck that type of contract. And JB almost is what we are going to hang one of our hats on.

The Patriots would never have a first overall pick in the draft with a Belichick led team. Your argument is invalid. But, that said, they have always taken care of their own elite QB, so there is absolutely nothing in the Patriots history under Belichick that would lead anyone to believe that they'd let a top-tier QB walk out the door.

With the exception of Peyton Manning and his neck surgery, there is no other example of any franchise letting a high caliber QB walk. That's never how any team does business. QBs are THE top commodity in this league, and every analyst worth his salt would agree that this is why they (i.e. top-tier QBs) are always among the highest paid players on a team. It's the one position that teams will overpay based on potential. The Texans being a prime example in that regard.

I'm watching ESPN HD live on my phone and Russillo and Kanell are very surprised that Texans are listed as 6th on ESPN. It's pretty funny how baffled they are.

Every team would pony up the cash to sign a QB they believe would be their franchise QB. FULL STOP. If Luck was drafted by the Patriots, they would have done the same for Luck. There is absolutely ZERO question about this.

I disagree with you there and we normally agree and piggy back each other on NE situations. I am starting to think that there is a strong potential that they push Brady out after next season unless Brady is playing at an MVP type of level. Jimmy's contract ends after next year, and he has shown that he can be really good, and I think that NE is going to look at the future perspective instead of maybe one or two more years with Brady who will inevitably take a big hit that will injure him badly at some point. BB is a cold hearted bastard and him and Brady have never had this father and son relationship like some people seem to just assume, because they've had such great chemistry on the field together. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see BB want to think about the future where they resign Jimmy for a lot of money and allow Tom to walk. Kraft didn't exactly fight tooth and nail to protect his QB from allegations no one could prove either, and he took the hit from the league losing draft picks without hardly fighting at all. The Pats have shown time and time again that they'll move on from great veterans over there, and as great as Tom is I don't think he'd be an exception by the end of next year. Unless Tom stays upright all of this year and next year and plays like a top 3 QB still, I think NE will hedge their bets by gambling on the long term future with Jimmy G than with another potential year or two with Brady. I hope I'm wrong, but my gut tells me NE will do that.

With the AFC South standings at:
Texans 2-0
Titans 1-1
Colts 0-2
Jaguars 0-2

The Texans play at the Patriots - Texans win
The Titans play the the Raiders at home - Raiders win
The Colts play the Chargers at home - Chargers win
The Jaguars play the Ravens at home - Ravens win

That could put the record at:
Texans 3-0
Titans 1-2
Colts 0-3
Jaguars 0-3

I'm predicting the Texans will be up by 2 games in the Division after week 3.

Is this a possibility after 3 games?
What are your predictions?

IMO all 3 AFC south games could go either way IMO

Jags beat the ravens just a year ago I think

after raiders layed a egg maybe there not has good has people think

and if the colts cant beat the chargers well then my god

even I thought we were pretty high but I also think its not based on future projection its the NOW

I'm saying they are not going to handicap themselves like the Colts just did. Yes they paid Brady but the following year he restructured his contract. Yes they would have paid Luck too but not that bloated contract the Colts just gave him. Dude hasn't won a damn thing. If we are going off of Almost, then there are several other QBS that been oh so close. **** Brady should be the highest paid quarterback in the league.

Everyone knows contacts don't work that way or did you forget how Flacco jumped Rodgers to be the highest paid QB. Each new season, someone new will become the highest paid. That's just how it works. It also doesn't mean a damn thing that Luck has not won anything. Teams believe that he has the potential to, hence they will pay him that much money. You are kidding yourself if you don't think Patriots wouldn't have paid him the same money if they had drafted him instead of Indy. QB's are THE most important position in the game. If you feel like your QB is the one, you bend over backwards to make sure you get him to stay. It's that simple.

I hope Andrew Luck is the next Phillip Rivers. Still, I can't imagine a team not paying him.

I would agree with you except they just drafted a QB. I'm assuming that was to get ready to groom as Jimmy's replacement, not Brady's.

They've been pretty high on Jimmy since he's been there. BB will draft on BPA in most draft situations. They likely viewed the rookie as a high value pick at the time.

I know the media has been pretty high on JimmyG since he's been there. Hard to get a read on BB. But I can't imagine them drafting a QB just because he was the best player available... in the third round.

Noticed that BB has drafted 3 QB's in the 2nd/3rd round in the last 6 years. 4 in the last 9 years. Interesting pattern. Not sure it means anything, but it is a pattern.

He got a conditional 7th out of all those QBs..... that's an interesting pattern.

And to my knowledge, none of those QB's have gone on to realize success anywhere else, correct?

I'm not sure what any of this extra banter has to do with AFC South standings. Just another hijacked thread I guess. 2 1/2 to 3 pages of it.

Y'all quit hijacking poor JamTex's threads talking about other divisions ranking status and why they rank as such! lol

I'm not saying a team would not pay him but that outrageous contract the Colts paid him. Thunder I don't see every team paying him that brother.

That is not a terrible contract if you believe he is your franchise QB, which he is

More than likely they will restructure in a couple years if not before... also remember the cap will be increasing each year

BB has always drafted that way for the most part, and tends to look at long term future more than he does short term future with draft picks. He usually addresses short term future with one year FA's and such. They've been high one Garropalo. He has played very well every time he got a chance in real games in the pre seasons. He was the guy I wanted the Texans to go after in the off season if you remember. I didn't care if had used a #1 pick on him either. I mentioned that a few times, and a lot of jimmies got rustled.

This is not the team of 2010, nor is it the team of that horrendous 2013 season when we started 2-0 and lost the next 14.
This offense will get better week to week. The Defense has only allowed 2 touchdowns in 8 quarter played and non in the last 6.
It's only going to get better from here on out. The toughest teams we'll face are the Vikings in week 5, the Broncos in week 7, the Raiders in week 11 and the Chargers in week 12 and I think we can beat all of them. The best team we face is the Packers. It's going to be tough, but if the Texans are on a good roll and this offense gels, we might just be able to beat them.
Clearly.

After week 3:
Texans 2-1
Colts 1-2
Titans 1-2
Jaguars 0-3

The Texans are one game up on the AFC South.
Next week is an all division week for the AFC South. We play the Titans and the Colts play the Jaguars.
The Texans should beat the Titans and I hope the Jaguars can take care of business at home against the Colts.
That would leave the AFC South like this:
Texans 3-1
Colts 1-3
Titans 1-3
Jaguars 1-3
Let's hope it works out like this.
That would put the Texans up by 2 games over the rest of the division.

Jaggies should be a better team than they are showing, the Titans and Dolts are not very good. The Texans are definitely good enough to win this division again.

Jags are 0-3 homie, not 3-0.

The Texans are now all alone in the South at 3-1.

The closest team is all of the south.

Texans 3-1
Colts 1-3
Titans 1-3
Jaguars 1-3

2 games up on the whole division is a good place to be.

Oh, the Texans will make the playoffs all right. But to what avail? They'll quickly be eliminated.

Week 5
Bears(1-3) @ Colts(1-3)
Titans(1-3) @ Dolphins(1-3)
Jags(1-3) @ Bye
Texans(3-1) @ Vikes(3-1 or 4-0)

better to be in the playoffs with a puncher's chance than to be sitting at home with NO chance.

One would think that would be obvious.
You're not one of those, "if we don't win it all we should just suck to get an early draft pick" weenies are you?
