AFC South Preview POLL (ESPN)

I just love it how the media thinks the Jags are so much better than the Texans. What have the Jags done to inpress the media?

Hmmm....interesting to see that the nation thinks we've improved the most this offseason.

used to bug me a LOT, then saw Cowboys disrespect the team and the team beat em up and told them after game about how they had heard about the disrespect. Miami advised us they considered any game with us a practice game, they learned we don't take disrespect very well. I look forward to all of the Sportswriters, NFL geniuses and the rest saying "boy did we underestimate the Texans"

I recal one of Texans players saying you won't give us respect we will take it from you :highfive:

The poll reveals the obvious. The Texans are on the way up. The Colts D won't get them a SB victory. Matt Jones (That storyline just adds to the daaaa Rio legacy) ? The Titans have lost some big players and are rebuilding with a new offensive system (pun was intended :) ). I can't wait for training camp.

Not all of the media thinks that way. At least Jaguars.com editor Vic Ketchman thinks the Texans are a threat.
Jimmy from Savannah, GA: Do you think we should consider Houston a serious threat for our division this year?
Vic: Absolutely, I do. Not only do the Texans have weapons, they are a team that embarrassed the Jaguars last season; two games, no touchdowns. Circle the Nov. 6 game on your schedule. The Jaguars will host the Texans that day in a game this team must win to reverse a dangerous trend against a division opponent. The Jaguars and Texans could find themselves battling for the division title for the next several years. The Texans must not be allowed to dominate the series.
Forget what the "media" says. The Jags know who their Daddy is.

I think thats more the Jags Fan if your talking about the last question were there like 4% ahead of us to win the AFC South. I think alot of Texans fans think the Colts will win. Jags are cocky this year and probably more voted for them.

it's all because the jags went on a roll early last season. however, when their time came to win and possibly go to the playoffs, they were shut out at home by yours truly. this is just like the media who says leftwich is a better
QB than carr. why do they think that? i really have no clue, just a bunch of hype i guess.

http://www.jaguars.com/story/4417.asp

my favorite passage "We're visionaries as scouts" that would certainly explain the Matt Jones pick :heh:

all depends on the final roster & injury status reports for each team. most of you are really underestimating the Titans, although they should struggle early.

depending of Leftwich's health could be a dogfight with the Texans for a playoff berth. Colts are still clearly the pick of the liter :cat:

Nationally, we won't get any respect until we get into the playoffs or at least compete for a playoff spot in week 17. Those are the teams that get most of the gloss.

I had to go read that to see if they actually described themselves as visionaries. That's scary. Well, it was, until I went to m-w.com and looked up the word. The first 2 definitions:

vi·sion·ary
Function: adjective
1 a : of the nature of a vision : ILLUSORY b : incapable of being realized or achieved : UTOPIAN <a visionary scheme> c : existing only in imagination : UNREAL
2 a : able or likely to see visions b : disposed to reverie or imagining

The Jags seem to be doing well again in the preseason write-ups. I think we all know what that's worth...and I'm sure the Jags know that too.

or we can be like the redskins and have a player get an arrest warrant, thats national attention :brickwall

you guys still so cocky??? and damn, you were all off season. thankfully you're seeing the light now that you'll never be above .500, ever.

how's being considered the worst team in the nfl working out for ya? good, good. glad to hear it.

You're last and you'll stay there this entire decade. You don't deserve to be in the Afc.

now you've learned not to be so arrogant about your team, and that will do you some good.

Hey, guess what, we swept you last year. Also, just to let you know, it was great. That was an incredible TD the Jags scored to keep from being shut out for the season.

And before you call me ignorant and proclaim it was only 6 points, yes, that's the point. Don't get your underwear turned inside out trying to backtrack.

see, the sad thing is you guys think you'll beat the Jaguars twice this year. You'd think a team like the texans wouldn't be marking w's ahead of time. Hold onto your 7-9 from last year.. that's as good as it's going to get.

All of you thought you were so great this whole off season. And all of you were wrong. It's just good to get back to reality, that's all. the texans haven't done anything.. so why were they so sure of themselves this offseason?

Fundamental improvement? History, and science would say if an object is in motion, it will stay in motion until stopped (or blown up by a ****ty offense). There was no reason to think the team would be this bad. Also, it's only their third game coming up. Some people believe the slide started towards the 2nd half of last season, but we still managed to punk your Jags 21-0.

and we managed to punk you even worse. 27-0. but like i said, you'll be holding on to last year forever. Jaguars at your stage already had 2 playoff trips, 2 playoff wins and the biggest upset of the decade under their belt.

14 point underdogs at Denver in 1996. 2nd year, what have you done? that's right. nothing and this year looks to be the same.

Go ahead and think it. you're 2-2.

" this is just like the media who says leftwich is a better
QB than carr. why do they think that? i really have no clue. "

yeah, that foolish media. how dare they think that.

So why you wait until after 3 games to come talk smack? I guarantee you if we beat you the first time we play this season you won't be back here until next season...

Damn right I will, until something different is proved by the Jags against the Texans. Holding onto the past? You're bringing things up from even further back, when Ragone was starting. Yes that's an excuse, and they all played terrible, but it remains a significant cause.

Jags had a nice little run, but I could care less about their accomplishments when Houston's current franchise didn't even exist.

carr_leap_main092803.jpg

Dont ever forget this!!! :texflag:

yes you beat the Jaguars. but they've moved on and your entire franchise hasn't. it seems you guys are content with that.

you beat the Jaguars twice. wouldn't you have a better record?

and you still think you'll finish ahead of the Jaguars this year. Keep overlooking the Jaguars though.

Congrats on 2-2.

Just don't choke and get shutout at home with the playoffs on the line this year. Especially by a team that is judged to be so inferior.

It's doesn't really surprise me that a team would "move on" from games where they were ultimately beaten 41-6. Should have been 48-6 if not for Gaffney forgetting to bring his brain cells to the game.

once again, you'll be holding onto that forever. you can't go a day without it.
that was your greatest accomplishment. Glad your enjoying it. it's all you have.

texans are considered the worse team in the league. I couldn't be happier. And you'll never get to the playoffs. texans are the laughing stock of the league. that's how it is and it will be easier for you guys to just except that you aren't that good. But you won't.

texans 0-2 i'm loving every minute of it. Have fun in the cellar where you belong.

You guys still think carr is better than leftwich?? that shows what you know.

still going to finish at least 2nd in the division? Playoffs? Not a chance.

Yep the Texans have only played two games. It is a long season, can't wait for you to come back and eat crow. The jags aren't that good this year.

They're a lot better than the texans...

if the Jaguars aren't good this year, what are the texans??
The Jaguars will score more points, allow less points, and have better special teams.

If you lose sunday and are 0-3 in the afc. the season could be over, but you haven't lost yet and i don't count victories or losses before that happen unlike a lot of you.

Of couse i'm hoping the bengals are 4-0 and very cocky to face hopefully the 3-1 Jaguars team next sunday night.

I see they flung another turd from the Litterbox over here again. If we get any more Jags over here, someone is going to have to send out for some Fresh Step, Multiple cat formula. It reeks in here.

If the Texans win any games this year, it will be the two against the Jags. Why? Because we are better than you, even in a bad year with a bad coaching. Something about the smell of cat makes our boys play well.

Hope you can still pick your jaw up off the ground when you get schooled by the 32nd ranked team in the NFL. Wait, the Jags may have that distinction after we're done with them.

What is your problem? You come on our board and start spewing c@@@ about our team on a thread created before traning camp and now you are supprised someone is bringing up the two games last year? You did not score a TD in 120 minutes of football against us! The only time Leftwhich could find the endzone was when he threw it to Faggins! Yes I realize that you guys are looking good this year and the Texans....not so much, but we are 1/8 of the way through the season, give it a break! :brickwall
Congratulations on beating on of the most anemic teams in footaball with a QB made of paper-mache, wooot!

And on the subject of "living in the past", you bring up beating us when we have our third string Qb in 2 years ago and your game against Denver form 97! Do you not see the irony there? Well, than again, what should we expect from a Jags fan?

PS- if your team is such a lock for the playoffs, why did they have to cover 20,000 seats so it dosn't look so empty on TV?

Not to mention Davis was injured as well. Hollings and Ragone...wow!

15 Players on IR to start that game, with Aaron Glenn pulling his groin halfway through the second quarter to make it 16.

Sorry, we have enough Fresh Step to last us the season, thank you very much :)

Maybe the texans will sweep the Jags again this season ( :pigfly: ), but is that all you texan fans hope for? It seems like some (not all) texans fans have the "Oh well we lost -- WAIT -- we play the Jags next! Time to get it together so we can talk trash to them all offseason, and then stop when we are the doormat of the league at the beinning of next season" mentality.

BTW, Don't say anything that you will later regret. You just refered to "when, you get schooled..." I'm holdin' it against ya if it comes back to bite you in your backside! :yahoo:

10,000 seats. And what does that have to do with us being a "lock" for the playoffs? Just curious.

But you are the one on their page - and you guys don't play until November.

See ya next week. Battle of the cats - and the Bengal Tiger is nocturnal, especially on National TV.

What he's refering to is that if the Jags ARE a lock to get to the playoffs then why can't those 10k seats get filled with fans instead of a tarp? It's OK it happens to a lot of teams. The Colts have seen a few black outs during their playoff runs. The worst I know of is the Bills not filling up against the Oilers during the playoffs. They missed the greatest comeback in NFL history.

what blackout have they had this season on sunday?

the stadium still holds 67,000 with a small market.

Maybe you'll learn, maybe you won't, but because you beat the Jaguars last year doesn't mean you will this season. That's all that counts to you guys, you beat the Jaguars and that makes your season. Seems as if you'll be happy with 2-14 this year. After all you guys seem to be pretty exicted about aprils draft in september. I wonder if the saints were as happy as you in 02.

You won't even get back to 7 wins this year.

We'll still take leftwich over carr anyday. And it's not even close.

"If the Texans win any games this year, it will be the two against the Jags. Why? Because we are better than you. "

Very foolish to think that.. but i guess you can't help to think you already have the 2 wins in the book. Keep sleeping on the Jaguars though.

Again, congrats on being 2-2 thus far.

FYI-we are fans. We don't play the games on Sundays. Nothing you say actually effects the teams on Sundays.

Just thought you needed a refresher on that Vendetta.

I know I'm on their page. I'm also on my page. What's that got to do with price of peace in China?

Hey, it wont be easy pplaying you all (Bengals) in a couple of weeks, but I beleive we can win it.

Vendetta said:
that was for your season in 05. you guys already have two wins against the Jaguars in 2005. So .500 so far isn't too bad.

Has the Jaguars message board been blacked out as well?

Take it easy on your smack talking you guys are one injury away from eating fromundacheese. Between Smith's age, Leftwich continually getting hit and Freddy simply being Freddy the likelihood of your offense performing well enough to propel you to the playoffs will be difficult at best.

Our expectations here are on average of 8-8. If your's are higher, more power to you.

ours are to get to the playoffs... most likely the wild card...

and what about your offense? The Jaguars will still score more points than the texans. And they have a very solid defense. Unlike the texans.

what about freddy being freddy? you mean playing in his last 49 of 51 games?? hmmm.. smith he has 3tds in 3 games.. what is aj rocking at? So carr is not taking hits now? is that it.

And right now that Jaguars d-line is dominant. Bad news for teams with bad offensive lines..

Really? That does surprise me. I do like to the ride the Jags, but I like your team. There is some fire and grit there, but I can wait to smack some kitty ****. :)
