Here's an interesting topic.
I've made a list of every teams #1 reciever in reception yards. I took their total and added it to the combined total with the other 3 teams leading reciever. Then combined the touchdowns.

Here are the stats:

#1 AFC South
4771 recieving yards-35 touchdowns/combined #1 leading recievers
Bennett 1247 (11) Tenn
Wayne 1210 (12) Indy
Smith 1172 (6) Jax
Johnson 1142 (6) Hou

#2 AFC West
4364 recieving yards-36 touchdowns/combined #1 leading recievers
Gonzalez 1258 (7) KC
Smith 1144 (7) Den
Porter 998 (9) Oak
Gates 964 (13) SD

#3 AFC East
3653 recieving yards-20 touchdowns/combined #1 leading recievers
Moulds 1043 (5) Buf
Chambers 898 (7) Mia
Givens 874 (3) NE
Moss 838 (5) NY

#4 AFC North
3585 recieving yards-15 touchdowns/combined #1 leading recievers
Johnson 1274 (9) Cin
Ward 1084 (4) Pit
Northcutt 806 (2) Cle
Taylor 421 (0) Bal :shocked

Of course on paper they are the best receivers, because the South actually passes more with Carr and Especially Manning. The other divisions have more run oriented offenses, especially the North. Its good to show that the passing is good in the south, but its a bit misleading. Look at a comparison of the Bengals and Texans. Chad Johnson had better numbers than AJ, and the number Two receiver for the bengals Houshmandzadeh had 978 yards. No other receiver on the Texans was close to that. THen rushing, Rudi Johnson had almost 1500 yards compared to DDs almost 1200. So even though on paper they look to be the best, maybe not necessarily.

AFC South rushing vs. AFC North:

James 1548 (9)
Taylor 1224 (2)
Davis 1188 (13)
Brown 1067 (6)/Split injury A. Smith 509 (4)
4466 total yards, 34 td's

Johnson 1454 (12)
Lewis 1006 (7)
Bettis 941 (13)/Split Staley 830 (1)
Suggs 744 (2)
4975 total yards, 35 td's

What's amazing here is the combination betweet Deuce Staley and Jerome Bettis. Just plain wow. 229 yards away from two 1,000 yard rushers.

Plus J.Lewis didnt even play every game cuz of the suspension and injuries. He would have had a few hundred more. Plus the North is held down by the browns

Our receivers stats are messed up because our O-Line has so many issues. When Carr gets them the ball, they almost always catch it if its atleast a half decent throw. Texans dropping passes has been pretty rare compared to a lot of teams.

Another interesting thing is..

AFC South has the worst Pass Defense in the League!!!

So are the recievers in the AFC South that good? or are our teams Pass Defenses that Bad?

I would like to think that the reason the AFC South has the worst pass defense is because we all have to face Peyton Manning twice a year.

Indy, Houston, Jacksonville and Tennessee have the 32nd, 31st, 30th and 29th worst defenses in terms of opponent's completion %, respectively.
